Part One
Two part short story about the lead up to the accident. It was the call that shook me completely. There had been an accident, a bad one. I couldn't breathe for the first time. Logan. As I look over my outfit, I take a deep breath to calm myself. My heart is hammering away in my rib cage from the thought of her beautiful eyes and those sexy lips. They were an addiction I couldn't get enough of. The constant thought of her lips against my skin kept an unsatisfied buzz in the pit of my stomach. Zipping up my grey hoodie, I slide on my conversers and shove my phone into my black jeans. I walk out of my bedroom and upstairs stairs to Ava's room. I hear their laughter before I see Kyle and Ava sprawled out on her bed watching a movie on her laptop. I slip into her bedroom and close the door behind me. "What are you doing in my bedroom?" she asks. "Using your window to sneak out," I casually reply. My bedroom window lock had been broken mysteriously, which meant I wasn't able to sneak out of the window anymore. Despite being a legal and consenting adult, house rules meant I wasn't allowed out this late at night... safety reasons and all. I didn't believe in following them, not when it comes to chasing down my girl. She was someone I was willing to risk it all for. "What are you doing sneaking out?" Ava shakes her head with distaste. "None of your business." I frown. "Of course it is," she insists. Instead of ignoring her demanding questions, I briefly answer her in the best way possible. "Meeting a friend in the park." I wink. "So gross." Ava pokes her tongue out and then hides her face in the pillow. "If we're talking bodies, she's got a perfect one..." I sing, which cracks up Kyle. "Ew, you're so gross." "You asked," I call over my shoulder as I walk towards the window. I slide it open and climb onto the roof. I carefully make my way down the titles and towards the low section that is just above the roofing. Lowering my body to the roof, I press my chest against the tiles and shuffle backwards. I hold onto the gutter as I use my foot to search for the brick wall. When I find the steady surface, I completely lower my body down. Jumping down from the fence, I walk down the driveway and towards the park. It's a couple of streets over, but I don't mind the walk. The frogs sing in the background and the breeze is soothing against my flushed cheeks. I pull my phone out and type a message to her. 'Meet me in the usual hangout.' 'Like always?'" Comes back seconds after I hit send. 'Always.' I hit send and shove my phone back in my pocket. Within fifteen minutes, I make it to the park. I walk down the pathway and towards the lookout point that over views the lake. As I make my way towards the little gazebo, I see the outline of her body from the moon light above. "Logan?" I hear my name being called. "Yes," I reply. I quicken my pace so that I get to her quicker. As the distance closers, I open my arms and scoop her into a hug. "I missed you, Tori," I whisper into her curly hair. "So did I!" I place her on the ground and take a step back. Her lips press against mine and I run my fingers through her hair. "I hate that we have to sneak around," I say, pressing my forehead against hers. "I know, Logan, I'm sorry. It's just that – " "Yes, I know." I cut her off. "The timing isn't right." I shake my head with annoyance. "When things are fine, I promise Logan, we won't have to hide in the shadows." "Okay." I nod my head. "I'm sorry that you have to wait." She bites her lip as a tear streams down here cheek. "Don't be." I wipe away her tear with my thumb. "You're worth the wait." I smile, trying to get her to quirk her lips into the dazzling smile I love. When she doesn't, I tickle her sides and it makes her laugh and smile. "Hey." She chuckles. "Don't tickle me!" "You missy, you owe me," I tease playfully. "What?" she asks innocently. "You can't go around teasing me like that, it's just not fair." I run my hand down her back, then loop my fingers into the back of her pants. My mind wanders to the night I saw her out with her friends. She was wearing a short black dress with heels that gave her legs a sexy look. She promised to sneak away with me, but her friend was drunk and she couldn't leave. "Me, tease?" She smiles. "Never." The glow of humour in her eyes sends my heart racing. "Oh, you know what I'm talking about." I pull at her top and she fiddles with the buttons on my jeans. There wasn't anyone else that could compare to Tori.
