They were waiting for the Principal's announcement. Ella was getting hyped-up while Kristina on the other hand was feeling rather guilty and nervous. "What is this? Why am I feeling this? Damn this is such a nuisance. Daniel's such a nuisance," she bit her nails. In the gym, Daniel was standing and yawning. He easily gets bored. He saw Kristina across the gym looking so troubled. He put his hands in his pockets and acted as if it didn't concern him while in fact, he was getting really worried. "Dan!" Sean tried to smack Daniel's back. Daniel caught his hand and twisted it without a sweat. "What do you want?" he said. "Ow ow ow! Cool man! Where'd you learn that?!" Sean took his arm back. "I'm just tryna make friends here. So, who did the witch sign you up with?" Daniel sighed and turned around. "Who knows. I don't care." Then he walked away. "That dude is so..." Sean clenched his fist. "So COOL!" "Students," the Principal finally took the microphone. "You can now proceed to the dressing room and change in your assigned costumes." "That's our cue," Ella said. "Let's go Tina!" "Um.. Alright," she muttered. * At the dressing room, Daniel started to stare at his costume. He took it and checked if it was really his. "You've got to be kidding me," he said. "You're lucky!" Sean appeared again. "You got a prince outfit while I'm stuck wearing this frog crap! What am I supposed to be anyway?!" he roared. Daniel looked at everybody in the room, they were all wearing ridiculous costumes too. "What are these costumes for?" he asked Sean. "Cosplay I think," Sean replied as he took his shirt off. "Some idiot suggested a game for couples. You're lucky if you get a hot chick as your partner. Tsk! I'm stuck with Ella the witch." "And how do you play this game?" Daniel asked again. "You're supposed to act. If your costume's a prince, then you should act like a prince. That goes the same for your partner. During the whole festival, they said you shouldn't let go of your partner's hand. How disgusting right?" Sean finally finished putting on his frog outfit. At the girl's dressing room... "WHAT?!" Kristina took a step back, away from Ella's claws. "You're gonna make me wear that... That thing?!" "What are you talking about?!" Ella kept coming closer. "Did you know how many girls wanted this costume? I literally fought them just to get this for you!" "You can give it back to them because there is no way I'm wearing that! And play that stupid game? Count me out!" "Kristina!" Ella yelled and silence crept the dressing room. All the girls stared at her. "Why can't you act like a girl for once? Are you really determined to leave Daniel out there without a partner?" Kristina stopped and thought about it for a while. She didn't want to leave Daniel out there, that'd be rude and cruel. "Fine," she said. "I wanna make up with him anyway." she thought to herself. "Yey!" Ella hugged Kristina and gave her a satisfied look. "Hurry! I'll do your hair and makeup too!" "Jeez you sound like my mom." An hour had passed and everybody was ready. They were told to go to their assigned partners so the game can finally begin. When Kristina stepped outside the dressing room, everyone stared at her. "Who is that girl?" people started whispering. True indeed, nobody would recognize her. Her hair wasn't tied in a ponytail as usual, Ella fixed it and it looked so elegant with her natural waves flowing. Her make up looked like it had been done by a professional. Ella wiped the sweat of her forehead and said, "Presenting, my masterpiece. Tina, I knew you were beautiful!" "Umm..." Kristina had a hard time walking. "I can't walk with these shoes... I'm not used to high heels." "That's alright!" Ella pushed her. "Your partner will take care of you I promise! Now go find him!" Kristina nervously walked across the decorated gym. Her fellow students and friends were dressed up in silly costumes, there were several refreshment tables at each corner of the room, and the lights were slightly dim when the disco ball was turned on. She moved like a penguin, all wobbly and walking funny. She got even more nervous when people started pointing and staring at her. "What did I get myself into?" she muttered. Kristina looked behind and found Ella already gone. She walked further across the gym and after a while, she stopped at the very middle of the dance floor. "I wanna change now." she said. The music suddenly started to play. People around her danced with their pairs, she looked like a loner out there. "I knew it. I'm not fit for this. I knew, but why did I still come? Daniel didn't too... Well duh. He's still mad at me, why in the world would he even want to pair up with me? I'm so stupid..." While she was still muttering to herself, she didn't notice that everybody in the room stopped and stared at a person walking towards the dance floor. He wore a princely outfit, a fake sword at his side and a small crown above his head. It was Daniel. Immediately, he saw Kristina and walked towards her. He tapped her back and smiled. When Kristina turned around, she was definitely not expecting to see him. "D-Daniel?" her eyes widened. She looked at him from head to toe and her cheeks went slightly pinkish. "Wow... You look so... Wow." Daniel took Kristina's hand and held it tight. "You too. I didn't think you'd actually look like a girl." She wrinkled her forehead and pouted. "I was giving you a compliment just now." "Really," Daniel pulled her across the room. "I was giving you a compliment too." She got somehow nervous when she realized that Daniel was holding her hand so tight. "What are we supposed to be again?" Daniel asked. "Romeo and Juliet!" Ella announced. She was the emcee for the night. "Our first contestants, please step right up!" The lights went off and they were both under the spotlight. All eyes were on them. "WHAT?!" Kristina said. "We're Romeo and Juliet?! Ella!"
