Chapter 173 Waking Up
Chapter 173 Waking Up
Tali
I was sitting in a chair next to his bed, holding Kira on my chest as she’d just finished with her breakfast, and I wanted to be here when he woke up. Michael had woken up when I broke the glass of his coffin. He’d been cut but healed quickly. He was extremely disoriented and still stuffing the effects of whatever spell he’d been under, so we brought him home and put him to bed basically. Now it’s been a few hours and we are waiting for him to wake up more alert and ready to have his world altered forever.
I’ve been going over all of the things he’ll need to know, and it’s rather mind boggling and overwhelming. It was hard enough for me while I was living through it, and I thought it was happening too fast. I can’t imagine having all of this shit dumped on you at once. He knew that the council had tried to take Jareth, and he knew about the attack on the house. I am not sure how much after that he actually knew because it was pretty early, before we had even reached the safe house, that his essence trace was severed from me, and we thought he was dead.
He’s been in a forced sleep for months, and in those months the whole world as he knew it has changed, some for better, and some will devastate him in ways I can’t honestly comprehend. His whole family, and the man he has loved for too many years to count turned out to be a bad guy who tried to kill his daughter, take over the world, and put him in that glass coffin asleep. So, yeah, this will be a blow.
I’m looking down at Kira’s sleeping face when I hear the russell of fabric and look up to see his eyes are open, and he’s looking around the room trying to get his bearings. His eyes land on me and he smiles, then he begins to see all of the differences, and the change of location. He I’m sure recognizes this place in some way, he grew up in Lysenia in the palace after all.
“Tali, where are we and what’s happened? Simion had called me because the council had dared to try to take Jarteth, and we were conronting some of the members. Then there was some kind of attack on your house and you had to flee, and we were supposed to speak to the council and get those pursuing you to back off if possible. I remember arguing with Gabriel.” He looks around, like he expects him to be somewhere in the room, which it understandable.
“He’s not here dad. You have been asleep for a while, and so much has happened in that time, so I am going to need to fill you in on everyehting. So, how about this. You go take a shower, as it will help wake you up more, you haven’t had one in months, and it will give me time to go and have some food brought here for us.” He nodded, and he kept looking at Kira.
I smiled, “No, this isn’t Jareth, this is your granddaughter Kira. Like I said, you’ve been sleeping for months, so a lot has happened, and a lot has changed. Would you like to hold her for a moment?”
He looked up at me with wide eyes, no doubt remembering the whole thing with him holding Jareth. He has no idea that everything about all of that, and why I had felt that way, and my fears about them trying to take him are now changed, so Kira is different.
“Yes, please. It is hard to wrap my head around the idea that I have been out of commission long enough for you to have a 2nd baby.” He held out his hands and I placed her gently in them.
He held her for a few moments, and I could see the love and fascination with her bloom on his face. I’d bring Jareth in here in just a while, but right now, there were other things that needed to happen. He handed her back after placing a kiss on her tiny head, and then went into the adjoining bathroom to shower.
I went to our room and put Kira in her bassinet, and then asked the guys to go and get some breakfast and bring it to the room where Michael was at the moment. They all gave me light kisses and went to do that. I went back into the room and sat at the small round table that was in the room. It wasn’t long before the guys brought up a tray with a bunch of stuff on it. We got the table arranged, and then they left again.
We thought it best for this to be just Micheal and I. That the fewer people who were around would be best as he tried to absorb everything. Since I had been there and had a rather unique perspective, aside from just being his daughter, we thought it was good for me to relay the information. It didn’t actually take long for him to come back out, freshly showered, and dressed in comfortable sweats that we’d had for him.
He saw the table and smiled, “wow, seeing all that food has made me realize exactly how hungry I am.”
He came over and we both fixed plates and I fixed my beloved coffee, and I let him get a bit more settled before I started, “Dad, what I have to tell you is long and drawn out. It’s complicated, and some will be both hard to believe and unfortunately painful. So, we’ll take it in bite sized pieces and go from there. How does that sound to you?”
He nodded as he took a sip of his coffee, “That sounds like a good idea. With what has happened to me, well what I think or in some ways what might have happened, I would expect people to be here who are not. If I am not mistaken we are in the castle in Lysenia.”
“Yes, that’s correct, and I already know who you are referring to, and I will address that in a moment. I just want you to prepare yourself for the tale I am about to tell you.” He nodded.
So, I took a deep breath.
