Solid Revelation

Solid Revelation
Cherilyn’s POV…

Well, I may have had a lot of work to do at my business, but all those things will have to wait for a while, because now that Kendra was here, I had to give her all my attention. So, we both left the store and I took her to the nearest Starbucks so we could get some coffee and she could fill me in on everything that had been happening to her since the last time I went to visit her in Vegas.

It was late morning already, so the morning rush had died down. We were able to get our coffees quickly and well, we took our seats at a table, began sipping and spilling the tea.

“Oh, my God, babe! You’re looking so good. I mean, your skin is glowing and you’ve even grown your hair out. Not that I didn’t like you before, but I’m seriously loving this new Kendra.”

She chuckled, blushing a little bit. “Thanks, Cherry berry. I mean, what else can I say other than life has been good! I even got promoted at the bar.”

“Seriously?”

“Yep. I no longer prepare the drinks and serve them. You’re looking at the new assistant manager. Bigger paycheck and so much more benefits. It’s truly a good time to be alive.”

This was beyond great news. It seemed not so long ago, Kendra used to be a mess, but now she was doing big things and changing her life for the better. I was so proud of her and it made me so happy to see her so happy. Truly, she deserved it.

I took another sip of my coffee and leaned in closer to her. “Alright! I’m definitely happy to see you in New York, but I have this feeling that you didn’t come all the way out here just to see me. Or am I wrong?”

She smiled at me, sipped some her coffee as well and took my hand. “As intuitive as ever, Cherilyn. Yes, something else brought me here but I decided to come see you first. I arrived yesterday evening and booked a hotel room for the next three days. I’m here for a conference, and I have this feeling that there’s something waiting for me at this place.”

Before I could ask her what conference brought her to New York, she pulled out a flier from her handbag and slid it over to me. I grabbed the flier and began to read the details aloud, “The BEYOND THE PULPIT convention is an annual event that gathers sons and daughters of God in the same venue for one amazing day of socializing and networking. It is a chance for believers working in different career fields to interact and learn several ways from the Bible on how they can strongly represent the Lord and his Gospel, thereby growing in their careers and dominating their industries.”

I don’t know exactly what it was, but as I was reading the details of the flier, I had a revelation in my spirit that this conference wasn’t meant for Kendra alone, but me as well. The date was tomorrow and the time was three in the afternoon. I raised my head and looked at her.

“Could I come with you?”

She snickered and took yet another sip of her coffee. “Does a one-legged duck swim in a circle?”

Malcolm’s POV…

As a christian, there are so many things that you’re missing out on if you don’t learn obedience. It’s important to learn to listen to spirits when they’re speaking to you, because they always say things that are relevant, useful and needed for the betterment of your life. You have to be open to opening up your mind and your heart, so these spirits could plant seeds from the Lord, and when the seeds take root and grow… Well, their fruits are always good.

Not only that, learning to obey the Word of God keeps you prepared to deal with all your troubles when they poke out their ugly heads against you. Remember that I mentioned meditating of Psalms three while I was in my office? Well, that Psalm had spoken to me in many ways than one. It had given me a solid revelation. It had kept me prepared for any ambush that I may face today, and well, it didn’t take long for the first to find me.

Just as I pulled my fly up, standing over the urinal, I heard the sound of the door of the restroom creak open. Before I even saw her with my physical eyes, my spiritual eyes already knew she had come to find me—and there was no way she came with good intentions. On any other day, I would be furious and would yell at her to get out and to stay away from me and things of that nature. But right now, my spirit was so calm. My soul was so still. There was no panic within my heart. I didn’t regard her as a threat. To me, she was just a desperate child seeking for attention and to be honest, I was bored by it and I felt sorry for her.

I walked over to the sink, turned on the faucet and began washing my hands. She just stood there, a few yards away from me, glaring like a predator stalking its prey. She didn’t say anything yet and I understood why. She had expected me to react differently upon seeing her there in the men’s room, but because I remained silent, so did she.

Honestly, what I wanted to do was just finish washing my hands, dry them, walk past her and leave the bathroom without even acknowledging her presense. That would have been the best way to deal with her madness, but there was no drama or fun in reacting that way, and I know you readers are still reading because you wish to be entertained.

Ah, the things I do for you people…

“You know this is the men’s bathroom, right? And not only that, it’s reserved for unique members of the company. I think the one you were looking for is on the other end of the corridor.”

I said this to her without raising my head to face her. Hearing me speak to her so calmly gave her the boost she needed to finally make a move. She walked over to me and stood by my side as I washed my hands. I still wasn’t looking at her, and it was already clear to me that it was what she wanted me to do. She stood there for a while, waiting for me to turn and look at her, or at least raise my head and look at her through the mirror, but my head remained downward, fixed on my watery hands.

She finally spoke, “Are you not even going to look at me, Malcolm?”

I finished washing my hands, pulled out some paper towels and began drying them, and then I turned and looked at her. And well, I didn’t see what I had expected to see.
