Chapter 14

Uriel's POV

I stood straight and stoic, careful of my bearing as I stood in front of Asher's castle. I don't know why I worry about my posture so much, it has been almost a hundred years now since I've been working as a butler to young master Damien's family and not once have my posture faltered.

I chuckled inwardly, my carefree smile not leaving my face as I felt proud of myself. I should probably celebrate when I get back. There should still be some antiquated wines in the young master's cellar.

Young master Damien was never one to drink old wines. He would probably ask the maids to throw them out if he knew there were wines older than him in his cellar. He would think it was disrespectful to him.

I find the young master's behaviour silly but I know better than anyone that some things are better left alone. We'll just go with the flow and see what happens.

My days of cuddling him are over and now it was time for him to experience things himself, after all, experience was the best teacher.

I noticed young Asher coming out of the castle and I couldn't help but be filled with nostalgia. He had grown to be a very handsome fellow, of course not as handsome as I was but it's something.

He had a lean and lithe figure, unlike the young master's bulky frame, his black hair and green eyes not changing a bit. I remember when he was younger, he had been the smart one, the brains to the young master's brawn.

They used to be inseparable and at some point, they were known as twin alpha's. They had been brothers and yet all of those precious memories went down the drain all for one indecisive girl.

I wasn't one to cuss but even I knew that she was what this generation would call a bitch. She had ruined a family and no one held her accountable.

I clicked my tongue, shaking my head inwardly. These boys truly didn't learn firm last experience and now, they would let another lady tear the divide between them wider. How could two alpha's be so foolish? Sigh, I have failed to bring them up properly. This was definitely a stain on my record

I could have interfered but I didn't. They were adults now and they should learn to settle disputes amongst themselves by themselves.

Moreover, the only way to force them to make you would be to kill the bitch and then beat both of them to a bloody pulp before threatening them to make up. Yeah, I know, it's overly stressful. Why did you think I did nothing?

When I noticed the matter getting to the boundary point, which was when they were out for each other's blood, I would interfere then. The two boys under my care couldn't become mortal enemies, after all, I didn't want another stain on my records again. Hehe.

Asher arrived in front of me, staring at me awkwardly, his body all fidgety. Humph, silly boy, he can't even greet his elders. These youths of nowadays, they were all spoiled rotten.

I remember back during Damien's father's generation, I used to be revered wherever I went. But now, no one had bothered to greet me, except the head maid. Tch.

I was about to scold him when I felt a gaze on me, I looked towards the direction of the stare. My eyebrows raised as I noticed the culprit, it was a young beautiful lady, no doubt the one the young master and little Asher were fighting over.

Her body froze under my stare as I examined her. She had long brown hair, brown eyes and an amazing figure if I do say so myself. Now I get why the boys were fighting. The bitch responsible for their first fallout was also a very beautiful woman but she was not as beautiful as this seemingly ordinary lady before me.

Although her features were nothing special; no unique eyes or hair colour, and even her skin was a common colour, she was still very beautiful. This made her appear even more amazing than usual earning her mum praise and the blood of two fools.

Then suddenly, I felt Asher's aura rise. I remained, as usual, understanding the situation immediately. The young lady had looked too deep into my eyes and I had also stared too deep into hers. she had hallucinated and Asher had gotten angry.

He stared at me with a threatening look. This spoiled brat, just kept disrespecting me, each one greater than the last. Well, I was going to scold him anyway.

I pressured him with my aura, my stare intent. His eyes widened in shock, most likely not expecting an old crook like me to be so powerful, and then his expression turned into one of confusion. He was probably wondering why he was the only one experiencing the pressure. Hehe, that was a little trick I learned during my travels.

“I know you are not exactly on good terms with Damien but that doesn't allow you to disrespect your elders. I taught you better than that.” I said to him, mustering my most serious voice. I noticed he had calmed down so I released him from the pressure.

He looked at me, his eyes reminding me of that gentle little boy who loved nature, my gaze subconsciously softened and up and I smiled a helpless smile.

“I'm sorry Uriel, I just didn't know what to expect,” he said.

I understood his point of view though, after all, I served young master Damien, but still, I couldn't help but feel a little heartbroken at his lack of trust in me.

I would have loved to talk more, but I knew I had to tell him what I came here for. I was around now and I could visit at any time, but young Master Damien's patience was very thin. Sigh, these children will be the end of me.

“We'll have our reunion later, for now, I bring urgent news,” I said, making my expression as serious as possible. I paused a bit to let him feel the gravitas of my next words.

“Damien wants his property back.”

His expression turned bad as he scowled. Fury flashed through his eyes. I knew I didn't need to go too deep into the details, he understood what I meant.

“I'm not giving her back to him! He treats her like a slave.”

“Is that the only reason why?” I asked him, the meaning of my words as clear as the blue sky. Asker had always been kind-hearted and I knew it wasn't above him to react this way even if it was someone else but I needed to know the details.

He paused for a bit, various emotions running through his eyes, his expression flickering. That was all I needed, I knew already. Asher was in love with the lady.

I chuckled.

“He has requested a meeting with the council members, and he wants you to know that if you didn't attend,.... He'll probably begin a red shower.”

Fury bubbled within Asher's eyes once more as he clenched his hands and gritted his teeth.

“Why is he doing this? He doesn't even like her.”

“He's different. He's more powerful now and he is even colder than usual. Something I'm him has changed and you'd better be careful.” I warned him.

Asher's gaze flickered with a strange light. I studied his expression for signs of his decision. I understood his plight. A red shower was a threat or one should probably call it a warning. It meant that Damien would start killing members of Asher's pack one after the other until he heeded his request.

Asher wasn't like Damien, he cared about his pack and he wasn't willing to let them die just like that. But he also loved this lady a lot. The fact that he wasn't willing to sacrifice her for his pack meant a lot.

After a few moments of silence, Asher seemed to have made up his mind, he looked at me with determination.

“I'll attend the meeting, but if he can threaten to kill my pack members then he better be ready for me when I come, 'cause I won't be coming alone. With me, I'll bring along the drums of war.”

JoJo, I chuckled inwardly, ‘the drums of war’ meant that Asher was willing to start a pack war. I was amused, all this for just one girl.

I smiled, then I turned around and left. There was nothing left to say, both boys were ready to do whatever it took.

Hmm, this was going to be amusing.
