CHAPTER SEVENTY-EIGHT.

AUTHOR'S POV.

Jacqueline and Carl resumed their walk.

Carl's mind ran back to the mysterious messenger, and his mind began to race at his words.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Jacqueline? Why would someone capable of causing such chaos on the pack just deliver a message and leave?" Carl mused aloud.

Jacqueline's expression was unreadable, his thoughts carefully guarded. He was just thinking about it too.

"It's not just the message. It's the power they wield. That sound… it wasn't meant to warn. It was meant to cripple us. Whoever they are, they wanted us vulnerable or better still, destroyed."

Before Carl could respond, Jacqueline stiffened, his senses sharpening as a new presence came into his awareness.

"Sh!" He cautioned Carl and listened til he got what he was looking for. "They're here."

A low growl rumbled in his chest as he turned to Carl.

"Who?" Carl asked him, his voice dropping to a whisper.

Jacqueline didn't answer immediately. His heightened senses picked up the faint sound of footsteps, a synchronized march.

He knew he had no time to waste, so he closed his eyes briefly, reaching out through the mind-link to his guards. *Get to the territory now. Bring the strongest fighters. Be ready for battle.*

Jacqueline turned to Carl, "Let's return to the territory immediately. We can't let them bust into the pack."

Carl nodded and both picked a race back to the territory to wait for the warriors whose footsteps he was hearing. They were impatiently waiting.

The forest seemed to come alive with an ominous energy as the attackers drew closer.

Emerging from the shadows was an army, their movements precise and threatening. At their forefront was a man whose presence radiated power and authority.

The Phoenix King.

His fiery aura seemed to illuminate the night, casting an otherworldly glow over the forest.

The Phoenix King's piercing eyes locked onto Jacqueline and Carl when he finally came into view.

"So," He said, his voice smooth yet menacing, "We meet again, the infamous Alpha who thinks he can defy the natural order and live forever."

Carl calmed down, his fists clenching as he took a defensive stance.

Jacqueline remained neutral as he was, his face portraying no emotion. "You've come a long way to test your luck, I hope you succeed with that."

The Phoenix King smirked, his army moving to encircle them. "You think your bravery will save you? My flames will reduce your territory to ashes, and your pack will fall."

Before the Phoenix King could give the command to attack, the forest erupted with movement. One by one, Jacqueline's guards appeared, their powerful forms emerging from the shadows.

The strongest and bravest warriors of the pack had arrived, their presence was like an intimidating display of strength and loyalty. They stood tall and unwavering, their eyes glowing with the zeal to protect their Alpha and their sweet home.

The Phoenix King's confident smirk faltered as he took in the sight of Jacqueline's men of war, which were mixed with both genders. His army, though formidable, was now matched with the Phoenix king's army, if not more.

"Impressive," He smirked, "But do you think they can withstand the wrath of a phoenix?"

Jacqueline stepped forward, locking his gaze on the Phoenix King. "We'll see to that," He said.

He was unshaken.

With a slight tilt of his head, he gave the signal to his warriors, who immediately formed a defensive formation around him and Carl.

The air crackled with tension as both sides prepared for battle. The Phoenix King's fiery aura intensified, and flames began to dance along his hands.

Jacqueline, however, remained unfazed. His calm demeanour belied the power surging within him, ready to be unleashed at a moment's notice.

"This is your last chance," Jacqueline said, his voice a low growl. "Leave now, or face the consequences."

The Phoenix King's laughter echoed through the clearing, a sound devoid of humour. "You dare threaten me? I'll burn your defiance to the ground."

And with that, the battle began.

The forest became a house of fire and fury as the two forces clashed.

One fought with fire and blades, the other with strength and technique.

Jacqueline's warriors fought with unmatched skill and precision, their movements a testament to their training and loyalty.

The Phoenix King's army was relentless, their fiery attacks scorching the earth, but Jacqueline's pack held their ground.

Amid the chaos, Jacqueline and the Phoenix King faced each other, their powers colliding in a fiery spectacle.

He would breathe his fire at Jacqueline while he dodged or returned it to him, which caused the phoenix king to resume his everyday question, "What is this boy made up of?"

Carl fought alongside the warriors, his strength was shining through as he took down enemy after enemy. Despite the overwhelming odds, he refused to falter, his loyalty to Jacqueline and the pack driving him forward.

The battle was in the middle when Jacqueline gave the Phoenix king another chance to repent and leave. He stepped away from him.

"See the bodies of your army on the floor and watch as they turn to ashes and vanish into thin air. Do you still want to continue this unyielding fight?"

"Surrender now," He growled. "Spare your army and yourself needless destruction and I will be merciful enough not to kill you."

The Phoenix King sneered, his fiery aura intensifying as he stepped forward. "Surrender? Do not insult me, boy. I am no coward. I will fight until my last breath, but I will not bow." His voice carried a fiery resolve, each word echoing his pride.

Before Jacqueline could respond, the Phoenix King inhaled deeply, the flames around him roaring to life. With a mighty roar, he exhaled a massive fireball, its heat lighting up the battlefield as it was thrown toward Jacqueline.

Jacqueline, who was ever vigilant, was ready. His powerful legs lifted him into the air, narrowly dodging the fiery attack.

The flames scorched the ground where he had stood moments before, leaving a crater.

From his elevated position, he roared, "Charge! Take them all down!" His voice echoed through the clearing, spurring his warriors into action.

The Phoenix King answered in kind matter, not ready to back down. He raised his hand to signal his army. "Show no mercy! Burn them all alive!"

They all were done with showing mercy, they were ready to kill now. They shifted. Those who were phoenixes shifted to phoenixes, and so did the werewolves. They shifted to their real kind.

The two sides clashed in an explosion of power and fury. Werewolves and phoenixes collided their supernatural abilities creating a chaotic and awe-inspiring battlefield.

The werewolves moved with unity and precision honed by years of training, their sharp claws and fangs were a deadly contrast to the phoenixes' fiery wings and explosive attacks.

Jacqueline tore through the battlefield, his focus unwavering as he targeted the Phoenix King.

Their powers collided in a dazzling display of strength and courage. The Phoenix King's flames roared around him, but Jacqueline's agility and brute strength allowed him to counter with relentless ferocity.

Carl fought along with the warriors til the Phoenix King's army, though fierce and destructive, began to falter under the relentless assault of Jacqueline's forces.

Meanwhile, Jacqueline and the Phoenix King were locked in an intense duel, their powers evenly matched. The air around them shimmered with heat and energy as they exchanged blows, neither willing to give an inch.

"You fight well," The Phoenix King admitted grudgingly, his voice strained as he launched another fireball.

"And you're just a stubborn old hag," Jacqueline retorted, dodging the attack and countering with a powerful swipe of his claws. "But this ends here."

Their clash reached a fever pitch, the sheer force of their battle shaking the ground and sending shockwaves through the battlefield. Despite the chaos around them, Jacqueline remained focused, his mind racing with strategies to end the fight.

Finally, he saw an opening. "It's either now or never."

Jacqueline ran swiftly with his claws all out, pulling longer than they were before, and like that, he jumped over the trees around him with his claws holding him in place, aiming for the top of the tallest one to get to the phoenix king who had flown up a little distance to the sky.

He got to a spot where his weight was weighing down the tree, and he risked a mighty jump towards the phoenix king.

He luckily caught him and dug all four into his body, two into his heart, and two into his stomach.

"Ah!" An agonizing growl echoed around, and they both came down falling.
