CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR.

JACQUELINE'S POV.

This was why I was awake from my slumber, it was all for her, Rosalie. I reasoned that she wouldn't be doing so fine in my absence, and I heard each of the words she spoke to me when I was asleep.

She told me, "Wake up, Jacqueline, I'm waiting for you."

It got me so much ease that I couldn't but want to wake up, and when I woke up, I was alone in a lonely safe room.

'What am I doing here?' I thought.

I sat down on the bed and thought about it all to see if I could fish out a memory relating to my presence in a room far away from my chamber.

It clicked in like rushing water...

"Jacqueline, hold on now, I'll heal you...."

"Jacqueline, why are you not waking up? People will begin to notice your absence...."

"I think we have to keep him for a while, I'll just lie that he hasn't returned from the banquet....."

"What about me?"

"You have to hide too. If you're seen by others, Jacqueline's whereabouts would be questioned...."

"Jacqueline, you're healed, why aren't you waking up?"

"Jacqueline, my wolf is back, she spoke to me."

"Jacqueline, is it true that we're mates? Why don't you tell me?"

"Hey, Jacqueline, you're playing unfair, you're here sleeping while I am sad. Don't you miss me?"

"Oh, goddess! Susan, how could you snitch on us?"

"Let's find another room to hide him, this time, just you and I will know of it."

"Jacqueline, your elder wants your throne. Won't you stand up to reclaim it? I mean, I don't even feel worthy enough to sit down on that throne because it's yours."

"Jacqueline, we don't know what Elder Lennox and Briana are planning, but just stay here til you wake up soon."

Then a lot of silent cries echoed in my ears, all begging for my help and return.

"Rosalie!" I gasped out. It was her voice, I could distinguish it anywhere.

I got out of bed and wanted to go in search of her, but I stink, so I had to wash up.

I was done bathing and dressing up when I began to hear the words exchanged in the room. I smirked when I knew that my inner enemies had come to me by themselves.

I left the bathroom and commanded them to be locked up til I knew what to do with them.

Then I asked the maid the question that had been on the tip of my tongue since I woke up, "Where's Rosalie?" And the fact that I was not perceiving her scent anywhere close.

"She was taken by the alpha from the other pack...." That was all I had to hear to know who took her.

Scott.

It felt like my heart had been ripped from my chest.

Rosalie. Taken. By Scott.

The words alone ignited a fire within me so fierce that I could barely think straight, and control myself. My vision blurred, not with tears but with rage that coursed through me like a storm.

He dare stepped his foot on my territory to take who was mine. I had no mercy for people like that, so, I better go to him to show him his place.

Even if I didn't want to go there violently, I wouldn't be able to stop myself. My bottled emotions took over me, and I couldn't stay still. My legs moved on their own, guiding me out of the castle before I even registered what I was doing.

Jack was more restless than I'd ever seen him. His growls echoed in my mind, multiplying my rage by ten.

*We're going now,* He snarled. *What is he even doing to her right now?*

*I bet she hasn't eaten for days*

*She must be so silent and sad right now. She must be coiling herself up in a corner in the non-venerated room I'm sure Scott will keep her.*

*What if... Shit! I don't want to think of something worse. All I know is that I'll kill him if he lays a finger on my mate. I'll kill him!*

I didn't argue. I couldn't.

Jack's impatience mirrored my own, and before I knew it, he had taken over my body completely.

My body shifted. The transformation was quick as Jack's rage, coupled with mine, fueled every fibre of my being.

We picked up a race, ignoring our tired selves.

Paws hit the ground, claws digging into the earth as we tore through the woods, heading straight for Scott's territory.

The wind roared in my ears, but it couldn't drown out the pounding of my heart. The thought of Rosalie in Scott's hands made my blood boil. 'What was he doing to her? Was she hurt? Scared?'

The possibility of her hurting drove me faster, my powerful legs carrying me across the land with relentless speed.

Though I felt tired with each hit on the earth as I ran, I couldn't stop for a second. 'My mate's under another man's control.' That was enough to renew my lost energy.

Finally, the border of Scott's pack came into view, and I didn't slow down. I entered in, running swiftly after the guards at the border.

The guards stationed at the perimeter barely had a chance to react before I was upon them. My wolf's claws lashed out, sending one flying into a nearby tree.

Another lunged at me, but I dodged with ease, my jaws snapping shut around his arm and tossing him aside like he weighed nothing, while the wise ones looked at me from a distance without attacking, like a fool.

On a norm, I would have loved to stop by them for a cup of herbal tea, but not today. I was vexed.

There was no time for subtlety, no time for pleasantries.

We picked our pace and moved.

*Out of my way!* Jack roared through me at the pack members who we met on the way, walking by and minding their business. His fury was like an unstoppable force.

I didn't stop. I just couldn't.

As we moved, Rosalie's scent became faint but unmistakable. It was like fine flowery scents pulling me deeper into the enemy's territory.

So, I kept on running nonstop.

Every guard that tried to block my path was met with the full force of my wrath. They were obstacles, nothing more. My focus was singular... Find Rosalie.

The scent grew stronger as I approached the pack house.

My claws scraped against the stone steps as I hopped through the front entrance, the doors trembled under the force of my arrival.

When I entered in, chaos erupted as more wolves appeared, but they were nothing to me. Jack and I moved as one, we had become rigid and unstoppable.

We kicked, hit, nodded, and bite, all in a minute, and there, when we stopped, bodies were lying all around us. Bodies of Scott's fallen soldiers, and I noticed there were not all werewolves. A tiny number of phoenixes was with them, and I concluded, 'The phoenix king is here.'

*She's close,* Jack stated, snapping me out of my thoughts. *I can feel her.*

I could feel her too, *Let's move*
