CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE.
ROSALIE'S POV.
A sudden knock resounding on the door got Jacqueline reluctantly disengaging from me. "What?!" He snapped angrily at the person by the door.
"Alpha, we brought the dinner you requested." The voices of the maids chorused.
"Dammit! I don't want the dinner anymore!"
I pulled away from his arms immediately, creating a meaningful space between us, and said, "Hey, you might not want the food, but I need it. I'm starving."
He roughed up his hair frustratedly, not hiding his disappointment.
Well, I ignored the look. I turned away and began to return to the bathroom, "Thanks for helping with the zipper anyway."
"I'm not done with it yet."
I ignored his words and increased my pace into the bathroom, it was when I was safely locked in there that I could release my breath.
I rested my head on the door with my eyes closed, and like that, everything began to replay in my head, his touch, the way he looked at me, the way he was all over me, his kisses, everything.
My hand rose to my neck, and I grinned. The sensation was still very fresh, and a part of me rose in sadness for we were interrupted.
I came back to my senses and hit my head on the door calmly, "Stop fantasizing, he was with you to burn away time. Just wait and see, everything will go back to normal when we return to the pack," I told myself, though I wished I was speaking wrong.
I moved away from the door and decided to shower. I searched around for a shower cap to cover my hair since I was conscious of it, and I wouldn't want the dye in my hair to wash off.
I found a pack of shower caps in the cabinet in the storage unit of the bathroom. I picked it up and used it, then I got myself out of my dress and pantie.
I wished to take a long shower, but I was so hungry that my stomach began to grumble.
When I was done showering, I dried the water on my body with a body towel and picked another towel to knot around my chest.
'What if Jacqueline still wants me?' The thought rang into my head and I immediately rushed to pick a towel robe, which I wore on the body towel, and I knotted its rope around my waist so tightly that I almost couldn't breathe.
'Now, I'm protected.' I thought and smiled.
I didn't want to give Jacqueline a thought that I loved what happened between us, so I covered my real feelings up with an expressionless face, like that, I walked out of the bathroom.
"I almost thought you were planning to sleep in there. I was thinking of packing some bed covers and a pillow for you to have a nice sleep in there," Jacqueline told me.
I rolled my eyes with the expression on my face still hidden, then my eyes caught the food he was settling on the breakfast table.
I walked towards him immediately, "You should have just told me that the food had been set."
He chuckled, "Now you know."
I overlooked the weird look he gave to me, and sat down on a chair by the table, "Let's eat."
Jacqueline took a seat beside me, and he uncovered the food on the plate to reveal its contents.
The scent of the cake escaped and I took a huge breath of it in. "Pineapple," I muttered, satisfied with the scent.
"I know you love the cake, but beware of the sounds you make whenever you're with me. I might rip the towel off you and take you right here with the cake. Just imagine how sweet you will be."
My breath ceased because of those words. It reminded me of our unfinished business, and I felt my face rising in hotness. I became conscious of everything, even the way I breathed, and I hurriedly scooped the cake with my spoon.
I blocked Jacqueline's words off and began to eat like I was threatened to do so before a threatening gunshot.
I almost choked with how fast it was, but I didn't mind. I was all over the cake.
"Oh, Rosalie, you've always been unaffected by my words, but with the way you're behaving right now, I might think that you have misinterpreted my words up all to be something else, and I can see how red your face has become. Hope it's what I'm thinking."
I paused, "What are you thinking?" I questioned him slowly with my mouth filled up.
He rested his chin on his hand and his lips twisted, "You might have loved the way I touched you."
That did it, I choked.
What got me choked up was not completely the words he spoke but his looks, too. He was looking so innocent like he knew not what he was saying, but his eyes on me were something else. He was stripping me right there on the seat with his eyes.
Jacqueline stood up behind me when I began to cough, and he began his pat on my back. He also stretched a glass of water to me, "Drink up."
I collected the cup from him, drank from it and soon, I was all good again and my coughing ceased.
I slowly got out of my seat, "I think I'm filled up, I'll just go and sleep now."
I didn't wait for his response, I went to the wardrobe, grabbed a nightdress and headed to the bathroom to change into it.
"You should have changed here, I would have loved to see everything I missed.'' Said Jacqueline to me as I stepped my feet back into the room
"Can you stop all these crazy words of yours tonight? Please!"
I ran to the bed and flipped on it, then got in it with my back turned at Jacqueline.
"I'm sorry, did I say anything wrong?" He questioned me.
"Just stop talking. Just imagine what tomorrow will be like with you as the man targeted to be killed." I reminded him of what to worry about so that I could put myself together and sleep.
"You know I don't have to worry about anything, I'm always ready for them, and if they want to try two with me, I'm ready to return ten to them, so, you see, I don't think you have to worry." He was very confident with his words.
"Just shut up and reason."
"Fine." I felt his steps all around the room, doing goddess knows what, which I ignored.
Something was telling me that those leaders were not bluffing this time, and the fact that Jacqueline was not taking them seriously was not helping.
'Please, goddess, save us and guide us back home.' I prayed.
