Chapter 150 Anything You Want

Chapter 150 Anything You Want
Luca Caputo.
The name rang through Rose's head. Don Massimo's half-brother. The man who had crashed the ball and declared himself Giovanni Caputo's legitimate son.
The man who had publicly challenged the most feared Mafia Don in New York.
And he was standing in her living room. Looking directly at her. His gaze never leaving her face.
Heat crept up Rose's neck. And beside her, Amelia looked equally stunned, openly staring at Luca.
Rose couldn't blame her. Luca was handsome, very handsome.
Maybe not in the devastating, almost unreal way Massimo was. There was no icy perfection to him. No beautiful cruelty.
But there was something else. Something warm. Something charming. He smiled easily and his eyes seemed alive.
"Rose."
Camille's voice broke through her thoughts. She looked at her mother.
"I believe you know Luca."
Rose gave a bewildered nod. "Y-Yes."
Camille smiled proudly. "Well, Luca is Giovanni Caputo's legitimate son." Her gaze shifted meaningfully.
"The world will remember that soon enough."
A charming laugh escaped Luca. It was low and smooth. But something dangerous gleamed briefly in his eyes.
"Now, now, Camille," he said pleasantly. "Let's not rush into things."
Camille merely smiled. "Of course."
She gestured gracefully. "Please, sit."
Luca inclined his head and took a seat. Rose and Amelia sat as well, though both kept sneaking glances at him. Every time Rose looked at him, she somehow found him already looking at her.
It made her pulse jump.
Luca settled comfortably into the couch. Then he spoke. "I'll become Don soon." He said smoothly.
There wasn't an ounce of uncertainty in his voice. "And when that happens..." He looked directly at Rose. "I'll need a wife."
Rose blinked in shock.
"A respectable woman." His gaze remained steady on her. "From a respectable family."
Amelia slapped a hand over her mouth. Rose forgot how breathing worked for a moment.
Luca continued speaking. "And I have no other person in mind but you."
A gasp escaped Amelia and Rose simply stared. She couldn't hear anything. Her heart was beating too loudly. No. No way...
This couldn't be...
Could it? She stared at him and he looked completely serious.
Rose couldn't believe it. Not only had she gotten everything she'd ever wanted... She had gotten the legitimate son.
A dizzying feeling of triumph spread through her chest. So powerful and intense, it nearly brought tears to her eyes.
She had won. After all this time. After everything. She had won.
Luca smiled slightly. "A union between us would be very powerful." He gave a pause. "Of course, we wouldn't marry immediately."
His eyes held hers. "But it would be soon."
Rose's pulse somehow climbed higher.
"As my wife..." His voice lowered slightly. "Whatever you want, you'll have."
Oh. Oh. Her heart nearly burst. Rose could already picture it. The wealth. The power. The respect. The status.
People envying her. People looking at her with admiration. People wishing they were her.
A beautiful, horrible thought entered her mind.
Eloise.
Eloise would know. She would know Rose had won. And then... then she could finally settle old scores.
The thought alone sent something dark and wonderful through her.
Camille was smiling proudly at her daughter. "What do you say, Rose?"
Rose looked at her mother and couldn't even form words. Camille's smile deepened. "Would you like a private moment with this gentleman?"
Rose looked back at Luca on the couch. He was still watching her patiently. Her face grew warm.
She nodded. "Y-Yes."
"Wonderful." Camille rose elegantly.
She looked at Amelia. "Come." Amelia looked ready to protest, mostly because she clearly wanted to remain and stare at Luca. But one look from their mother had her getting up.
She gave Rose an enormous grin. Then the two women disappeared down the hallway.
Rose became acutely aware of herself. Her breathing. Her hands. Her heart. Luca leaned back in his chair and watched her. She didn't know what to do with herself.
"You seem nervous."
She laughed softly, embarrassed. "A little."
His mouth curved into a smile. "A little?"
She laughed again. This time more genuinely. "Okay... maybe a lot."
He chuckled softly, the sound easing something in her.
"You don't need to be."
She looked at him laying back easily on the couch. He looked entirely comfortable. As though he belonged everywhere.
Then he spoke again. "So..." His eyes remained on her. "Would you want to be my wife, Rose?"
There it was. The moment that changed everything for her. Rose's head felt light. She smiled and couldn't stop smiling. She felt giddy. Almost drunk.
"Yes." Her voice came out soft.
She swallowed. Then smiled even wider. "Yes, Luca." She stood, crossing the distance between them.
Luca watched her approach till she stopped directly in front of him. Then she looked into his eyes. "I would like to be your wife."
A shy smile found its way onto her face. "I would like to be anything you want."
Luca didn't move, simply watching her, making her feel oddly breathless beneath his gaze.
"And..." she said softly, "I will do anything you want."
Something flickered across his expression. Gone too quickly to understand. Then he rose slowly. He was taller than she'd realised and she had to tilt her head back to look at him.
He stepped closer. Close enough that she forgot how to breathe again. Then he bent slightly, his stubble brushing softly against her cheek.
A shiver ran down her spine.
"I knew..." His voice dropped into a murmur, the corner of his mouth lifting.
"...that I was going to like you."
