EPILOGUE
ANDREI'S POV
I was drafting a building project when my secretary called to informed me that Mr. Monasterio came and would like to talk to me.
I was confused and a bit nervous, because it's been months since we last saw each other.
Well plus the fact that I like his only daughter. Damn it.
After a while, Uncle Deyniel finally entered my office. I noticed he lost weight since I last saw him, but I ignored that.
"Sit down," I said politely, and offered the chair in front of me. He smiled and sat down before sneezing.
"I will not wander around anymore. I am here to ask you to marry my daughter." My breathing stopped.
What did he say?
"W-what?" I stuttered and sat up.
He smiled at me and looked me straight in the eye.
"I am asking you to marry my daughter Andrei." He spoke softly, as if he were stamping it in my mind.
"Why of all a sudden?" I could not help but ask.
My forehead furrowed at the thought of bankruptcy. That is impossible.
"Do not you like her?" he asked me again.
I was caught off guard, which made him chuckle for a second before returning to being serious.
"I am asking you personally Andrei. Marry my daughter," he said again.
That was a command I had no right to refuse; but why did someone else come to me? I felt like that was a decision that suddenly fell on me, a choice I would never have considered.
Hell I'll do everything to make her mine.
I let out a deep breath before looking at him seriously. "When do you want me to marry your daughter?" I asked him.
I could see the slight relief on his face.
"I want you to get married as soon as possible," he answered.
I smirked in my mind. Well it's my lucky day.
"You mean two days from now Sir?" I said and hid my smile.
He was a little taken back, but also recovered quickly and laughed weakly.
"You are really whipped by my daughter," he said and looked at me with a smile. "Take care of her Andrei, and do me a favor." All of a sudden he became serious.
"What is it?" I politely asked.
"Keep your eyes on her. Keep her safe always," he said. There was no emotion on his face, but his eyes were full of fear and sadness.
I wanted to ask more, but I thought I would be crossing the line, so I stopped. We just talked about our wedding. Auntie told me on the phone what Cassandra's dream wedding was. I canceled all my appointments and projects and focused on our upcoming wedding.
Fuck! I felt so nervous. What if she declined?
Later that day, I went to a bar to freshen up. It seemed like destiny was really playing with us. I saw her dancing with her friend on the dance floor. Good thing this bar is private and a high end one, so there are no rude people.
The minutes passed as my eyes remained watching her in everything she was doing. I almost cursed myself when I felt my sword harden as I saw her grind her hips.
"This is a pure torture," I whispered and drank my whiskey.
A few more hours passed and she was completely drunk, I could see her staggering, walking towards the bartender. They talked for a while until someone spoke to her on her phone. A little later, I heard my phone ring. I was a bit surprised when I saw who was calling. I answered it and was stunned when he asked me to take his daughter home, of course with her friend. I gladly obeyed. It's my chance to be with her, so I didn't hesitate to approach her and tap her, because she was already asleep.
She slowly opened her eyes. "Who are you?" Her eyes widened as she spoke.
I smiled at her and put her runaway hair around the side of her ear. I expect her to flinch or punch me, but she let me instead.
"I'm your fiancé," I said.
She kept her eyes on me before smiling softly.
Damn it! My heart!
"I love your eyes, though I hate that color," she mumbled as she cupped my face.
"So you are my fiancé?" she asked. I only responded with a nod because my attention was on her hand.
It feels good to touch by her.
"Can you please take care of me? Can we make our marriage happy, even though it was arranged?" Sadness and bitterness was in her voice.
I was a bit surprised again.
She didn't ask me to stop our wedding; instead she's asking us to be okay, even with how hard the situation is for her. God! Why is she so nice?
"I promise I will take care of you, no need to ask for it, because I'll do everything to make you happy, to make our relationship happy." I said and kissed her forehead.
She smiled at me and went to my shoulder. "I wanna go home! That fucking Ayesha, I'm going to slap her hard tomorrow, that bitch." She mumbled and groaned.
I laughed softly and supported her.
An angel with an attitude.
We were on our way home when I received a message from my girlfriend. I just closed my eyes in frustration; I almost forgot that I had a relationship. I looked at Cassandra, who was fast asleep for a moment before calling Yhanna.
"I'm sorry Yhanna, but I'm breaking up with you. I know I'm such a jerk, but I really like someone else and now we are bound to marry each other. I'm sorry again." I honestly said while waiting for an answer on the other line.
She was silent for a moment before speaking. "Can you give me a few days to get used to it? It's hard because you suddenly broke up with me after we got together." She said sadly. I just sighed and felt guilty, I did nothing but agree to her wishes.
"Your wife looks hot," my friend Daevon whispered as I watched her walk towards me with her parents.
I glared at him and whispered a curse. He laughed softly and patted my shoulder.
My heart seemed to explode with excitement, but I didn't let it be known. She would be confused by my reaction if I suddenly cried here. Fuck! I'd do anything to make her stay with me.
When I kissed her after the priest told me to, I felt like I had kissed the softest and sweetest lips in my entire life. Damn it! I was really whipped, which made me stunned when she thought so ill of me. I couldn't blame her, though, she had seen me with another girl.
After the ceremony, I looked at Yhanna, showing her that I really liked my wife. She just nodded and left.
When we got home and morning came, I was really surprised when she cooked for us, like a husband and wife normally do. But I was a bit hurt when I felt like she wasn't fighting for me, for our marriage. But despite that, I liked her more, she would sacrifice herself for me to be happy.
Destiny was really playing with us. Especially that day; I took her virginity. Of course I poured my seed into her, I had wanted her to carry our child. I planned to, so she wouldn't get away from me. I almost cursed myself when she got hospitalized because of my uncontrolled libido. I stayed away the next few days after she was released from the hospital so that what happened between the two of us would not happen again. I knew that she was still not healthy yet, so I avoided it.
But destiny was really demonic. I was lividly jealous and I made love with her several times. Marking her mine. I wanted to make sure that she would carry our child.
Then my hell days came. There was a problem in one of our projects in America, so we had to go immediately with my team. I wanted to go home, but we were chasing a flight, so I just texted everything. I remembered again that I wouldn't admit to her that I loved her because I thought that she felt differently. That's why I also said that we would talk when I got home.
We were in America for a few days, and then I read that her dad was gone. I hurriedly flew back. I was very apologetic to her mom and my wife when I arrived, but it seemed like my wife was preoccupied with something. I understood, she was mourning her father. That's why I gave her space. I accepted her cold shoulder and silent glares, hoping that after a couple of days, we would be able to talk.
I had just arrived home from work when I caught up with her on the sofa. I tried to talk to her, but she seemed distant, even though she told me that we were okay.
I called her to eat, and when I did not find her in the room, I looked for her and found her sleeping in the tub.
I picked her up and wiped her. Her eyes opened for a while, but she went back to sleep, so I could do nothing but dress her up and let her rest.
I was scared when she puked early in the morning. I thought something was not right in her body. That's why I insisted on bringing her to the hospital, but she kept declining. Then a thought popped up in my mind.
Could it be?
Days passed. I was so sure that she was carrying my child. I was so fucking happy, but at the same time hurt because she was hiding it from me. But I just let it go. The important thing was that I took care of her and our future child, so I adjusted my work schedule to watch over her. I went out for a moment to check some files and my world stopped when I came back, seeing her covered with blood.
No, not our baby.
I was literally a wreck when she pushed me away. I couldn't live without her, without our baby. I tried to talk to her, but she kept her distance. That's why I tried to just send her a letter, along with her favorite food. I drowned myself with liquor. I thought I was just imagining her with me, but I found out it was real when she started to cry.
Thank God for giving them back to me.
I thought everything would be okay. But like they say, there is always a storm after a calm weather. And this time, it really broke us apart.
It hurt so much when she asked for a separation, to my face. I could never do that. Call me selfish, but I couldn't lose her just like that, so even though she went to America, I followed her.
For the few days I spent there, I was satisfied with just a glance. I was nervous one day when she was rushing to get in her car. I followed her until she stopped and entered a hospital.
What was she doing there? Was she sick? Who would take care of her? She was alone for Pete's sake. So when she left the hospital, I immediately found out why she went there, only to find out that one of our children survived in her womb.
Amid all the storms that had befallen us, I felt it was a sign to try again, to hope and to resume.
I felt relieved when a familiar nurse came by, Azaia. Someone was going to look for them now. I was careless, and Azaia caught me, but thank God she wasn't that nosy. She just let me continue what I was doing, like she didn't care at all, as long as I didn't do anything bad to her patient.
I was shocked when a month later, Ayesha arrived. I called Daevon and found out that she had left him. I did not ask more about it, because they were alive, but I made sure that if he needed a friend I was there for him.
Many months later, Cassandra gave birth. I went back to the house where I was staying. I had always been cheap here and there, but my heart seemed to explode with worry until Azaia sent me a picture captioned, 'Congratulations Fucker.' It was Cassandra carrying our child in her hands. A lone tear fell down my cheek.
Thank God they were safe.
I was so jealous and mad every time Rozz was near my wife. I wanted to punch him hard, but I didn't want to cause my wife any problems. That's why I just focused on our son. Besides, no one could take her away from me. We were still married; she was mine.
Cassandra and Ayesha started working. That's why I asked Azaia if I could take care of my son. I would not let them see me. I just wanted to hold my son and be by his side as he grew up.
Maybe she felt sorry for me, because she agreed. Every morning after the two of them left, I went there to take care of our child, but I always left thirty minutes before they got home to make sure they would not run into me.
"Daddy," my three-year-old son called.
"Yes, son," I smiled in response and hugged him as we watched cartoons.
Azaia was with Daeshaia, playing dolls and cooking whatever.
"Why do you always hide from Mommy?" he asked innocently.
I was stunned for a moment. I tried to smile at him and gently ruffled his hair.
"Are you having a difficulty, son?" I asked. He immediately shook his head.
"It's you, Daddy, who is suffering, not me," he answered.
I just smiled bitterly and kissed the top of his head.
"Someday, son, we will all be together. I promise," I mumbled as I hugged him tight.
I'll do anything to fix our family, baby, because your mom and I are chained together by our hearts.
