A Few Selfies
Cindy nodded her head and said "Okay. So tell me how it went with Maya. My ears are seriously itching."
Jack laughed and packed up the things he laid on the bed before lying down. He took Cindy in his arms and told her everything that Maya said and how she was shameless even to the end.
Cindy shook her head fearfully and hoped that she never had to meet Maya or someone like her ever again.
Cindy woke up the next morning and frowned when she saw that Jack had already gotten ready for work. "I thought we were going to spend the day together and later attend the party." She said while pouting.
Jack kissed her and said, "Please pardon me, baby, I should have told you that I have a meeting with some of the shareholders who think it's a bad idea for me to sign Chris Belov.
I need to convince them and also prepare for the party. How about I give you a massage after the party?"
"I'll be too tired already," Cindy replied.
"Okay, then. I will make it up to you tomorrow. We will spend the whole day together and do whatever you want us to do. Deal?"
"Deal!" Cindy replied and finally smiled. She liked it when Jack pampered and coaxed her and this morning was no different. However, she was worried about the party.
She wished she didn't have to attend but she knew that Jack was counting on her to be his plus one.
She had been to a celebrity party once with Rick and she had regretted it. It was more like an opportunity for them to show off who had the most money, the best clothes, curves, etc.
She hated being at the center of such worthless contests but Jack needed to sign on this Chris Belov and apart from being his girlfriend, she needed to be there as his secretary.
She looked at her wardrobe and thought about what to wear. She didn't like dressing up too much for celebrity parties because she always wanted to leave the competition to the actual celebrities.
But that didn't mean she would look too basic. She needed to represent Jack well but most of the elegant dresses she had were from last season and not really in vogue.
The gowns Jack had gotten for her when they had traveled to Switzerland were still trendy though but they revealed too much of her breast and the last thing she wanted was to attract any form of attention to herself.
In the end, she settled for her basic gowns. She was already beautiful so regardless of what she wore, she was still going to look presentable.
When it was almost time for the party, Cindy wore her usual makeup and tied her hair into a bun. She wondered why Jack had not arrived even by this time and was about to call him when she heard a knock on her door.
She quickly went to open the door and smiled when she saw Jack's handsome face.
"You look so beautiful, Cindy. Like you always do," Jack said. "However, I got you something more befitting for the party."
Jack handed her a bag and she opened it to reveal a very beautiful creme-colored gown with glistening stones.
As she ran her fingers through the fabric, Cindy felt guilty because she knew it was very expensive. "You shouldn't have gone through the trouble Jack," she said guiltily.
Jack simply hugged her and said, "I love you Cindy and anything I do for you always brings me joy because you are special. You are worth it, my sweet Cindy."
Cindy smiled at Jack and replied, "I love you too, Jack. And frankly speaking, I was beginning to get worried when I didn't see you. I hope everything went well?"
"Yes it did," Jack replied. "Now, you go put on your gown and I'll get dressed as well. We don't want to be late for the party."
They both got dressed for the party. The gown Jack had gotten for Cindy was very beautiful. It accentuated her curves and as Cindy looked at herself in the mirror, her heart began to beat fast because she knew that no matter how much she didn't want to, she was going to attract attention at the party.
Jack finished dressing up before Cindy did and waited for her in her living room.
When she came out, he stared at her in awe. All Jack did was stare at her and Cindy said, "Thanks for the compliment."
He opened the door and said, "Right this way, your highness."
Cindy smiled and took his hand as they left her house. However, when they got to where Jack parked his car, she began to frown.
Jack noticed Cindy's mood and asked, "What is the problem, darling?"
"We don't have pictures together," Cindy replied sadly. "You took selfies with Maya and posted them on your story but you can't even take one selfie with me."
Jack softened his initially worried expression and said, "First of all, I didn't take a picture with Maya. She was taking selfies with my phone and ended up putting me in the picture.
Secondly, I never posted a picture of the both of us on my story. So where are you getting your stories from?"
Cindy stared at Jack for a minute and took out her phone. She opened the screenshot she had taken on the day she was supposed to go see a movie with Jack.
She showed Jack the picture and he was very surprised when he saw it. He recalled how Maya had borrowed his phone so many times that night and said, "That bitch! Maya asked for my phone to send the pictures she had taken.
I had no idea she had secretly posted this picture on my story with this stupid caption. Cindy, you should have shown this picture to me after that night.
It doesn't matter anyways. I finally gave her what she deserves and it makes me happy each time I remember it. I'm sorry about how angry you may have felt that night.
Come, let's take a few selfies."
Cindy smiled once again as Jack took a lot of selfies and personal pictures of her.
When they arrived at the party venue, Cindy decided to breathe in and out before going inside. When Jack saw what she was doing, he asked, "Are you nervous?"
"Something like that," Cindy replied.
He came out of the car and turned to her side. He opened the door for her, stretched out his hand, and said, "You can take my hand whenever you feel nervous. I promise I will be by your side and not let go."
Cindy smiled and took his hand as they both went into the party. The photographers took many pictures of them as they entered and Cindy couldn't help but ask Jack, "Aren't they supposed to take only pictures of celebrities?"
"It's because you look so beautiful, Cindy," Jack replied. "They probably think you are a celebrity. Come to think of it, I can make you one if you so desire. With your beauty, you will become a star in just a few months."
Cindy looked at Jack and shook her head, "Thanks but no thanks. I don't like being in the spotlight. And I'm sure you know that."
"Yes, I do," Jack replied. "But you know what they say. Never say never. I'll just keep the offer open for when you eventually change your mind."
Cindy rolled her eyes at Jack. She didn't know if he was being serious or joking but she meant it when she said that she didn't like being in the spotlight.
Just like now, so many people were staring at her and her heart was beating fast. She didn't know if it was her gown that drew people's attention to her or if it was Jack's handsome looks.
Whichever the case, she was grateful that Jack was holding onto her hand tightly. The party was crawling with so many celebrities.
Some she had seen on the screens and others in newspapers and magazines. Yet there were still so many others whom she didn't know.
She noticed three beautiful girls standing together and recognized one of them. There was a time she considered her an enemy but now she felt nothing but gratitude towards this person.
Emily turned her face and saw Jack and Cindy. She didn't know if she should approach them because Cindy hated her back then and Jack had said he wasn't going to tell her the truth yet.
However, Cindy smiled warmly at her and that was all the encouragement Emily needed. She walked towards Cindy and Jack and felt happy when Cindy enveloped her in a hug.
