Chapter Nineteen
Leilani POV
Leilani sat in her bedroom fiddling with the phone, her time was almost up, she shouldn't really be wasting time, she should be calling Gustin, especially since she had no idea what he would do if he was left to his limit.
The children stormed into her room yelling loudly
" Mommy we want cookies," they called out and she smiled
" I'm sure, just like I'm sure that aunty Ella gave you those snacks that I kept for school" she mumbled pressing a kiss to Adrian's cheeks.
He giggled pulling away
" No mommy"
" This isn't mommy, this is the cookies monster" she growled shoving him into the bed and biting at his stomach, he giggled
" Do me" Allison cried her arms stretched out, and she grabbed her next and did the same thing, to her and soon they were all giggling.
She let them go settling on the bed again, reaching for her phone , she loved them so much. She would never regret having them even if she regret what had happened in the middle before them.
They moved to the floor playing with a few cards then Adrian looked up at her.
" Mommy, why did we come to London" Adrian asked and she froze looking down to them at the floor. He was still looking down playing with his cards like he had no care in the world, it was almost endearing if not for the question he had just asked
" What make you say that" she whispered her voice, thin almost cracking
" Aunty Ella said so" he mumbled and she sighed. She was going to kill her sister!
" Is that what she said " he asked and he nodded
" She was talking to uncle Ricky on the phone and she said –she said " he frowned biting his lips as he played with the cards
" Adrian" she hissed
" She said that you were going to see out daddy again, even though he was a hole" Allison muttered, and she hissed. If Ella survived long enough to get back to her own kids it would be a miracle
" I see" she murmured, then rubbing her hands together she looked to them
" So what do you think, about a daddy" she asked, Allison looked up from her toy
" I'd like one, all my friends back in school had one" she mumbled
" And Lisa and Henry have one too " she mumbled mentioning her little cousins.
She swallowed
" Uh-huh"
" What about you Adrian " she asked and he nodded
" I'd like to have a spiderman costume,my friends daddy bought him a spiderman costume, would a daddy get me one " he asked eyes wide as he stared at her and she nodded biting her lips hoping it would keep the tears away from her eyes even if it felt like it wasn't really working.
" Then I want one "
" Ok" she nodded running her hand through his hair.
This was her fault, she had made her children this way, left them yearning for the love of a father she couldn't give in her own, that they would always have to get from him.
Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to see him now, especially when he had made the first move, if she wouldn't do it for anything then for her children.
She rose from the bed and walked into the bedroom opposite her so she could do what she needed to do now.
She raised the phone to her face and dialled his number, she had never deleted it in the first place. It took two rings for him to pick up the phone,
" Hello" he mumbled and she swallowed, stilling herself for what she had to do.
“Let’s meet.” she murmured, her voice soft and almost not there at all.
He was silent for a while, she almost thought he had not heard her right, then he asked
“When?” his voice was calmer than she felt, which was outstanding considering her heart kept going between beating like a drum ND freezing like an iced lake.
“Tonight, I’ll send you the details,” she said, keeping her own tone as unreadable as possible.
Before he could ask anything else, she added,
“I have to go, Gustin. I’ll see you later.”
She stayed there looking at her phone, where would be the best place to see him, that would allow her the grace to run if and when she couldn't stand the conversation. The bedroom door opened ND her sister poked her head in
" What are you doing" she grinned and Leilani scoffed
" Wondering where to meet Gustin" she muttered
" I said it" her sister crowed and she glared at her
" Yes you did, in front of the children and all"
" I have a bone to pick with you" she mumbled and her sister grinned
" Forgive me, it was an accident " she at he'd a brow
" a hole made it's way into that conversation by accident " she muttered and Ella laughed
" Where are you guys meeting " she asked and Leilani huffed
" I'm not sure, somewhere I can easily escape" she muttered
" Then I know just the place "
The Rizzler for its name was a nice restaurant , in Ella's neighborhood in the middle of town, it was far away enough from the office district but it would be fairly busy and that she didn't have to lie about where she was going and it was secluded enough that she could have a life altering conversations without fear of anyone hearing them or interrupting plus, her sister was certain, that it was far from his office so he wouldn't have the upper hand.
She left the kids at Ella's place for the evening, she was working on moving out of her parents place and the apartment she had found was quite nice. He mother hadn't called at all, but her father had called a few times.
The twins were watching cartoons with their cousins and the only sign either of them had given to show they acknowledged her departure was a distracted wave in her direction.
Leilani scoffed, waving back at them
" You would think they'd miss their mother more" she mumbled and Ella laughed
"Enjoy it while it last, I doubt you want the hanging on that they actually do when they miss you" .
" I'm sorry for leaving them here " she hissed and Ella smiled
" They are taking my brats off my hands, just come home in time for the monster phase " she muttered and Leilani laughed
" I will"
She walked out the door and her sister called back
" Don't do what you don't want to do" she whispered and she swallowed
" What"
" Do this only if you can handle it. The kids are important but so are you" she replied and she nodded even though she wasn't sure that applied to her anymore.
