Chapter 79
Go on a business trip with Joshua?
For a whole week?
Ella thought about Dorian at home and worried that after she left, Scarlett might come over and bully her child again.
While buttoning up Joshua's shirt, Ella refused, "I'm still not feeling well. Can I not go?"
"You don't have to go, but Aurora..."
Joshua was threatening Ella with Aurora again.
Ella's heart tightened, and she had no choice but to compromise. "Fine, I'll go with you."
She took the opportunity to ask, "After we come back, can I see Aurora?"
Joshua looked uncomfortable but agreed with a grunt, then went to wash up.
Ella went downstairs to tell Dorian.
She also instructed Karen, "Karen, I'll give you some money. Please arrange to have security cameras installed in the public areas of the house and help me take care of Dorian."
Karen nodded, "Don't worry and go on the business trip with Mr. Thomas. I'll take good care of Dorian."
But Dorian wasn't happy. He grabbed Ella's hand and wouldn't let go.
"That bad guy is taking Mom away alone. He's definitely going to bully you again."
"Mom, can you please not go? Don't leave me."
Actually, Dorian could take care of himself. He was just worried that when Ella went with Joshua, she'd get bullied with no one to help her.
After all, that Joshua was so mean.
Ella saw the worry on Dorian's little face and crouched down to hug him.
"Joshua said that as long as I go on this business trip with him, he'll let me see Aurora when we get back."
"Dorian, don't worry. Mom will protect herself."
Seeing that Ella had to go, Dorian had no choice.
He turned and ran back to his room, took out the pepper spray he'd been secretly making these past few days, and handed it to Ella.
"Mom, keep this with you. If anyone bullies you, spray it in their face."
Ella took it.
Seeing it was one of her makeup spray bottles, she wanted to laugh.
"This can protect me?"
Dorian lifted his head, his big eyes bright and clever.
"I put pepper water in it. If that bad guy bullies you again, spray him and see if he dares to be so arrogant."
He made it specifically to protect Ella.
Ella was going alone with that Joshua, who would definitely bully her again.
This would come in handy.
Hearing it was pepper water inside, Ella was once again impressed by Dorian.
"You made this yourself? You're so young, how do you know about these things?"
Dorian was only three years old.
How did he seem to know everything?
He could even make pepper spray himself.
Dorian looked proud and very confident.
Pepper spray was nothing.
He was currently researching a type of poison.
Once he succeeded, he'd secretly give it to Joshua.
It would act up periodically, and without the antidote, he'd keep suffering.
That way, with Ella holding the antidote, she wouldn't have to fear being bullied by Joshua anymore.
Ella thought it was Dorian's way of showing he cared, so she put away the pepper spray.
Seeing Joshua coming downstairs, she got up and followed him to the dining room to set the table.
Dorian followed along.
To make Joshua treat his mom better, he acted eager to please, sweetly calling out, "Mr. Thomas, you look so handsome today, like a prince."
Joshua glanced at Dorian.
This little brat usually rejected him, didn't he?
What got into him now?
Joshua ignored him. When he sat down at the table, Dorian came over to his side again, speaking softly, "I heard you're taking my mom on a business trip. Can you please take good care of her? She's still sick."
Dorian saw things clearly in black and white.
He knew Joshua was terrible and only bullied Ella.
But for Aurora to come back to them sooner, he deliberately tried to please him. Maybe if the bad guy had a change of heart, he'd treat Ella better.
Joshua knew full well that Dorian was just like Ella.
They liked to put on an act.
He wasn't going to be fooled by this mother and son.
Especially Ella sitting across from him—her mistakes were unforgivable.
Joshua pushed the child away with a cold face. "Get lost."
Dorian stepped aside and made a face in disgust.
Then he sat down next to Ella.
Ella could see that Joshua really didn't like her child.
She didn't expect much, just hoped Aurora could come back to her side soon.
After she divorced Joshua, she'd leave with both children.
After breakfast, Ella gave Karen countless reminders.
She also talked to Dorian for quite a while, until Joshua in the car at the door impatiently urged her, and she reluctantly got in.
On the way to the airport, Ella tried asking Brian, who was driving. "Brian, is Aurora okay?"
Earlier on the phone, Patricia told her Brian had gone there.
So Brian should know about Aurora's situation.
Brian looked at Joshua in the back seat through the rearview mirror.
Seeing his handsome face looking gloomy and very displeased, he didn't dare say much. He smiled and told Ella, "Well, Mr. Thomas knows the situation better than I do. You should ask him."
Ella turned her gaze to Joshua.
Seeing his cold demeanor, unwilling to talk to anyone.
If she wasn't worried about Aurora, Ella swore she would stay far away from him and wouldn't even look at him.
Like some menopausal woman.
Despite her inner resentment, for Aurora's sake, Ella still looked gentle and pleaded with Joshua, "Joshua, can I call Patricia? I just want to ask how Aurora is doing now."
Joshua acted as if he hadn't heard. Not only did he ignore her, he even closed his eyes.
He leaned to the side in his suit, looking cold and dignified, making people afraid to disturb him.
Ella glared at Joshua, grinding her teeth.
She even wanted to slap him across the face.
First thing in the morning, pretending to sleep.
Since Joshua ignored her, Ella had to shut up.
Brian dropped them off at the airport, arranged everything, and left.
Ella didn't expect they'd be taking a private jet.
After boarding, she saw there were two other people inside.
Scarlett and Mason.
So Joshua was going on a business trip with these siblings?
Thinking about Joshua's relationship with Scarlett, Ella couldn't understand why Joshua would bring her along.
The Lewis family siblings, already seated on the plane, saw them too.
Both were confused.
Especially Scarlett.
When she learned Mason was going on a business trip with Joshua, she begged Mason for ages before he agreed to bring her along.
She thought she could use this opportunity to make something happen with Joshua.
She never expected Joshua would bring Ella too.
So they weren't planning to divorce?
Scarlett was very unhappy, but still got up to greet Joshua. "Joshua, you're here."
Joshua acknowledged her and sat down next to Mason, discussing work matters with him, too lazy to deal with the two women.
But Mason didn't want to talk about work.
Looking at Ella, he asked Joshua, "You brought her along. Does that mean you don't mind about those two kids of hers anymore?"
