Chapter 64
Ella spent another whole day watching over Aiden at the Thomas Manor.
But Aiden still showed no signs of waking up.
Hearing the sound of a car from the courtyard downstairs, she knew Joshua must have arrived with her Dorian.
Ella went downstairs to greet them.
But when she walked out of the villa and stood on the steps, she only saw Joshua getting out of the car alone.
There was no Dorian at all.
Ella wasn't sure, so she hurried over and searched the entire car, but still didn't see Dorian.
She turned to face Joshua behind her and asked anxiously, "Where's Dorian? Didn't you say you'd bring him over after work?"
Joshua stood there upright.
He was wearing a brown suit today that wrapped around his tall, perfect figure, looking mature and elegant.
The expression on his handsome face was somewhat serious.
"Dorian was picked up by his father."
"What?"
Ella looked at Joshua in shock.
Joshua pressed his thin lips together, held back for half a second, then said, "Isn't Michael the child's father? If he misses the kid and wants to take him for a couple days, that's perfectly reasonable. Don't worry for now, in a few days I'll have him send the child back to you."
Actually, he hoped more that Michael would take the child away and never appear again.
That way Ella would only belong to him.
And he wouldn't have to raise someone else's kid.
"I bet you're the one who handed Dorian over to him, right?"
Ella was furious, glaring fiercely at Joshua, turning to leave.
Joshua reached out to grab her, "What are you saying? How could I hand the child over to him?"
"If not you, then who?"
Ella was angry, turning to glare at him, her eyes reddening with anxiety.
"You can't stand Dorian at all. You've been wishing Dorian would disappear. I bet Aurora's kidnapping was arranged by you too."
"Joshua, you're completely rotten. I don't want to see you anymore."
Still worried about what might happen to Dorian in Michael's hands, Ella rushed to run.
She wanted to go find Michael and get Dorian back.
But Joshua hugged her from behind, restraining her attempt to leave, his face darkening.
"I think you're hoping the child stays with his father so you can use this chance to rekindle your old flame with him."
"Ella, don't forget, you're my wife now."
This damned woman.
As soon as she heard the child was with Michael, she really wanted to go find them without any regard.
What did she take him, her husband, for?
Just a title?
Joshua was also angered, his handsome face gloomy, his eyes piercing Ella's, ice-cold and bone-chilling.
Ella really hated him to death and couldn't help raising her voice, "I never wanted to be your wife. Every day with you is torture. You're the one who won't divorce me, so what right do you have to stop me from seeing my child?"
Ella was so anxious she was about to cry.
But she didn't dare tell the truth at this moment.
She was afraid that if she denied Dorian was Michael's, Joshua would ask whose child he was.
Then Ella would have even more trouble explaining.
What she needed to do now was leave as soon as possible to find Michael.
She just wanted to protect her Dorian and keep him safe.
"Do you think I want to be with you either?"
Joshua felt a stabbing pain in his chest from Ella's words, and in his anger also said something he didn't mean.
"If it weren't for Grandpa, how would someone like you be worthy of being my wife?"
"Then let's get divorced."
Ella screamed, struggling to push him away. Thinking of Dorian falling into Michael's hands, it surely meant more danger than safety.
She felt desperate and helpless, completely unsure of what to do.
"Fine, divorce."
Joshua's head heated up and he agreed.
But at that moment, the butler hurried over, excitedly saying, "Mr. Joshua Thomas, Mrs. Thomas, Mr. Aiden Thomas is awake."
Joshua and Ella looked at each other.
Even though they had been fighting bitterly just moments before.
But now they shared the same feeling, rushing into the house, upstairs, to Aiden's room.
The two approached Aiden from either side of the bed, saying in unison, "Grandpa."
Aiden looked weakly at the people by the bed.
When he saw Ella, he thought his old eyes were playing tricks on him.
He tremblingly raised his hand, wanting to touch Ella.
Ella quickly grasped his hand, tears streaming down.
"Grandpa, you're finally awake. I was so worried about you."
Aiden felt the warmth Ella transmitted to him, lying there with a weak smile.
"Ella, have you come to take Grandpa away?"
Ella shook her head, her voice hoarse and trembling.
"No, Grandpa, I didn't die. I came back alive. I'm sorry for making you worry."
Aiden fell silent.
His gaze scattered as he looked at Ella crying before the bed.
Hearing what she said, he took a long while to process it.
Finally, Aiden turned his gaze to Joshua on the other side, seeking confirmation, "Is what Ella said true?"
Joshua nodded, his throat choking, "Yes, Ella came back alive. She's fine."
Aiden accepted the reality.
He also realized that he hadn't died, he was still alive.
Looking at Ella again, Aiden's tears flowed freely.
"That's wonderful, as long as you're okay. Otherwise, after I died, I wouldn't know how to explain to your grandfather."
Ella buried her head close to Aiden, holding back her emotions to comfort him, "What nonsense is Grandpa saying? You'll definitely live to a hundred and stay with us always."
Even though Aiden had woken up.
She was still very worried.
She didn't know what Michael would do to Dorian now that he had him.
Seeing Joshua leave with his phone, Ella wanted to get up and follow, but couldn't leave Aiden.
In the end, she could only stay with Aiden and wait for Samuel to arrive.
Samuel walked into the room and glanced at Ella, seeing she still had great hostility toward him, he felt quite depressed.
But he didn't ask much, first examining Aiden.
Ella then got up and said something to Aiden before leaving.
She really didn't want to stay with Samuel for even a moment.
Joshua, afraid she would go find Michael, followed her out and blocked her way.
"Where are you going?"
Ella glared at him coldly, "Since you've already agreed to divorce me, please draft the agreement as soon as possible for me to sign."
"And where I go now is none of your business."
Ella was furious, walking around Joshua to leave.
Joshua grabbed her wrist, pulling her against the wall, his tall figure standing before her, looking down.
"Grandpa just woke up. You know he needs your company. If you leave, how do I explain to him?"
"Just tell him the truth - that I went to find Dorian."
Ella turned her head away, not wanting to look at Joshua.
She would tell Aiden the truth about her situation sooner or later anyway.
"Are you trying to anger Grandpa to death?"
Seeing Ella with her face turned away, unwilling to even look at him, Joshua uncomfortably pinched her chin to make her face him.
"Ella, Dorian is with his father - what could happen? Can't you consider Grandpa's health first?"
This heartless woman.
Sometimes Joshua really wanted to pry open her chest to see if there was even a heart inside.
In the five years at the Thomas family, Aiden had been so good to her.
Yet now she still wanted to leave.
Joshua's chest felt blocked by something, stuffy and uncomfortable.
Ella glared at him, her bright face looking somewhat pale, wanting to deny that Michael was Dorian's father.
But she couldn't say it.
Who told her to impulsively say Dorian was Michael's before - if she argued now, Joshua definitely wouldn't believe her.
She tried hard to calm herself down.
After settling down, Ella said, "Can you contact Michael now? I want to talk to him on the phone."
No matter how much Joshua minded Michael's existence.
He didn't want the Ella before him to worry about the child.
Otherwise she definitely wouldn't be willing to stay peacefully.
Joshua suppressed the sourness in his heart, pulled out his phone, found that unfamiliar number, and handed it to her.
"Michael called me before, this is the number."
Ella took the phone and dialed directly.
Not wanting Joshua to hear her conversation, she turned away from him and walked toward their room.
Joshua didn't follow.
He really couldn't ease this discomfort. He clenched his fist and violently punched the wall beside him.
This action was just seen by Samuel coming out.
He laughed mockingly, "You and Ella had another fight?"
That Joshua was really moody, treating everyone like an enemy.
He had to find her himself and ask what exactly he'd done to offend her.
Joshua straightened his posture, tugged at his clothes, and changed the subject, "Is my grandpa okay?"
Samuel's face was serious, "Not great, but with Ella back alive, it should stabilize his condition. He needs slow recovery."
Joshua understood and turned to enter Aiden's room.
In the other room.
Ella gripped the phone nervously. "Michael, I'll find a way to come to you, but please don't hurt my child, okay?"
On the phone, Michael laughed frivolously, his voice gentle.
"How could I hurt our child? But Ella, I don't have much patience. If I don't see you within a week, I might lose my mind."
"You know I'm sick. If I lose my mind, I'm not sure what I might do to the child."
Ella agreed without thinking, "Okay, I'll definitely come find you within a week."
"Can you let Dorian talk to me now?"
She had to first confirm Dorian's safety.
As long as Michael didn't hurt her child, she would go even to hell.
Michael agreed and had someone bring Dorian to him.
He picked up Dorian and sat him on his lap, coaxing gently, "Dorian, call for Mommy. Mommy wants to hear you talk."
Hearing this, Dorian quickly reassured her through the phone.
"Mommy, I'm with Daddy now. Don't worry about me. Daddy treats me very well, and I really like this daddy too."
Knowing Ella must be confined by Joshua and couldn't get away.
He didn't blame Ella at all for not being by his side.
When he grew up, he'd see how he'd deal with Joshua.
Daring to bully Ella, Joshua was really asking for it.
Hearing Dorian's childish voice, Ella breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as Dorian was okay.
Ella told Dorian, "Then be good and wait there for Mommy. Mommy will come find you in a couple days."
