Chapter 61
Ella had no idea what Joshua was thinking now.
She had already told him clearly that the father of her child had come back, and she wanted to be with him.
Why didn't Joshua care?
He even asked her to get into his bed.
Even if Joshua truly didn't mind that she had children with someone else, she minded that he and Scarlett had sex in their bed.
She minded that they had given Dorian sleeping pills.
Unwilling to stay with him anymore, Ella went to the bathroom.
Joshua got up and followed her. When he tried to turn the brass lock, he found the bathroom door was locked from the inside.
He stood tall and straight at the door, showing his helplessness. "Ella, open the door. I need to use the bathroom."
Ella said irritably, "This isn't the only bathroom in the house."
The Thomas Manor was so big. Not to mention the first and third floors, even on the second floor alone, every room had its own bathroom.
He could use any room he wanted. Why did he have to be here?
Not wanting to deal with him, Ella quickly washed up, planning to go check on Aiden.
Joshua stood outside, kicking the door. "I don't have time to go somewhere else. I want to use this one. Open the door."
Ella still ignored him and continued washing up.
But Joshua, outside, was like a rebellious child, childishly still kicking the door.
"Ella, I'm telling you to open the door. If you keep this up, I'm going to break it down."
"Do you hear me? Open the door."
Ella finished washing up and pulled the door open.
She tried to walk past the person blocking the doorway.
But Joshua grabbed her arm and, with a slight pull, easily pressed her against the door.
His tall, imposing figure loomed over her, pinning her small, thin body against his chest. His expression was focused, his face serious.
"Let's talk."
Ella didn't struggle. She looked up at him lightly.
"About divorce?"
Between them, there was nothing to talk about except divorce.
Once Aiden woke up, she would tell him about having children with someone else and ask him to grant her a divorce.
Aiden loved her so much, he would definitely agree.
The word "divorce" made Joshua feel like a needle was piercing his chest again.
He frowned uncomfortably and lifted his hand to pinch Ella's thin chin, staring at her with deep eyes.
"Ella, listen carefully. I'm only saying this once. I don't mind that you had children with someone else, and I don't care that their father is still alive."
"All the things you deceived and hid from me in the past - I can let them all go. From now on, just be my wife peacefully. I'll help you raise the two children. Don't mention divorce to me again. Do you hear me?"
Joshua didn't know why he had such a high tolerance level.
Just because Ella came back alive, because he had lost and found her again, he could overlook everything.
Or maybe he was afraid of losing her again, afraid of a world without her.
So Joshua tried hard to convince himself not to care about dignity or pride.
If you want something in your heart, fight for it.
That's what makes life meaningful, isn't it?
Ella was stunned.
She stared in shock at the tall Joshua in front of her.
She could hardly believe that Joshua actually didn't mind about her and Michael.
If this had been before, when there was no Scarlett, she might have been very moved and chosen without hesitation to stay with Joshua forever.
But now she didn't want to love Joshua anymore.
And she was even less willing to pretend Scarlett didn't exist and forgive them for giving Dorian sleeping pills.
Staring at Joshua, Ella said with a straight face, "Even if you don't mind my situation, I don't want to be your wife anymore. Joshua, you don't love me. Keeping me here just tortures us both. Why not let me go and marry your Scarlett? That would be better for both of us."
Joshua's Adam's apple moved as he opened his mouth to deny Ella's words.
He truly hadn't recognized his own feelings before.
But since Ella left, Joshua had realized what he really wanted.
As long as she stayed safely by his side, that was enough.
But Joshua couldn't say the words "I love you." Looking at Ella, his eyes became so dark and hurt.
"I'm telling you again - Scarlett and I are over. There's no possibility in the future either."
"That's your business."
Ella removed Joshua's hand from her and walked away, leaving him with these words. "Anyway, I won't continue this marriage with you. When Grandpa wakes up, I'll tell him everything."
Ella left.
Joshua stood there frozen, his chest feeling like a huge stone was pressing on it, heavy and suffocating.
The expression on his handsome face was gloomy and cold. In his anger, he punched the wall hard.
He had humbled himself this much.
He didn't even mind all her issues. What more could she possibly be dissatisfied with?
What an ungrateful person.
What did he have to do to make Ella change her mind?
Joshua turned and leaned against the sink, thinking until his head hurt.
Just then, Karen from Tranquil Villa called.
She said Dorian had severe stomach pain and kept crying.
Joshua quickly went to find Samuel and asked him to go check on him first.
But he didn't tell Ella about this.
First, he was afraid Ella would worry.
Second, Aiden still needed her, and he couldn't let her leave for now.
Samuel rushed to Tranquil Villa and examined Dorian, but found nothing wrong.
Yet Dorian kept saying it hurt.
Samuel knew Dorian wasn't faking it - his little face was covered in sweat and tears from the pain.
He could only take him to the hospital for scans first.
All day, Ella stayed at the Thomas Manor watching over Aiden.
Aiden wouldn't wake up, yet she felt inexplicably anxious and restless.
Thinking that Aurora hadn't been found and Dorian wasn't by her side now, she really couldn't just sit here and wait.
She got up to leave.
She happened to run into Joshua at the door. When she tried to walk around him, he raised his hand to block her.
"Where are you going?"
Ella's face was expressionless. "I'm worried about Dorian. I want to go back to Tranquil Villa to check on him."
Joshua had forgotten about the promise he made to Dorian last night.
Thinking about how Ella, in front of him, insisted on divorce and wouldn't give him any face at all.
Joshua blocked her from leaving. "I told you, until Grandpa wakes up, you're not going anywhere."
Ella looked up and glared at him, getting angry for no reason.
"If you won't let me leave, then bring Dorian here to me. You know Aurora is missing, and now you want to separate me from Dorian, too. How can you be so cruel?"
If Dorian wasn't by her side and something happened to him, she would never forgive Joshua.
"What did you just call me?"
Joshua frowned, staring at Ella with disappointment.
"You called me cruel? Ella, do you have any conscience at all? During the month you were gone, I took care of Dorian like my own son. Not only do you not thank me, but you think I'm cruel?"
Joshua moved closer to Ella, forcing her against the wall, and said through gritted teeth with cruel determination, "Then I'll show you cruel. Until Grandpa wakes up, you'll never see Dorian again for the rest of your life."
Joshua really couldn't face this heartless woman, Ella, anymore.
Joshua didn't want to look at her pitiful expression for another second. He turned and left.
Ella angrily shouted at his back, "Joshua, you'd better not do anything to Dorian, or I'll never forgive you."
