Chapter 149
Joshua never expected his luck would be this good—that he actually didn't die at Ella's hands.
Since fate had given him another chance, he naturally wouldn't let it slip away.
Perhaps only this opportunity could bring Ella and Dorian back to his side.
Mason was somewhat angry, "Ella likes Zachary. They just got married. Why do you have to break them up? Besides, even if they divorce, Ella still won't get back together with you."
"Joshua, I'm begging you, please let Ella and Dorian go, okay?"
Joshua was rich and handsome, powerful and influential. He could have any woman he wanted.
Why did it have to be Ella?
Even after being hurt by Ella to the point of nearly dying, he still wouldn't give up.
"Your begging won't help. As long as Ella divorces and comes back with Dorian, I can let bygones be bygones. Otherwise, she can stay in prison forever!"
Joshua knew that Ella would compromise for Dorian's sake.
She couldn't possibly abandon Dorian and spend decades in prison.
The Lewis family would also beg her.
Even if doing this didn't win Ella's true heart, as long as Ella and Dorian could stay by his side, that would be good enough.
Mason really had no way to deal with Joshua. Unable to reason with him, he could only go home and discuss it with Heath and Rhea.
Zachary also returned to the Lewis family from the hospital.
The family sat in the living room. After Mason finished speaking, everyone's eyes fell on Zachary.
Waiting to see what he would decide.
Zachary refused to let Joshua have his way and insisted, "I won't divorce. I've already found the best lawyer to defend Ella. We'll say that Ella lost her mind because of the child. After all, Joshua was the one who snatched the child first and put me in the hospital."
He didn't believe he couldn't beat Joshua.
It was just hard on Ella, who might have to stay at the police station for a while longer.
"Grandma, is it true that Mom will only be released if we beg that bad man?"
Dorian leaned against Rhea's leg, speaking softly and weakly, with no energy at all.
Without Ella, he had no appetite and couldn't sleep. The whole world felt dark, everything had lost its color.
He really missed Ella so much.
Rhea picked up Dorian and sat him on her lap, her face full of kindness.
"Yes, if that bad man doesn't relent, Ella might have to suffer in prison. Dorian, would you be willing to go talk nicely to that person for your mom's sake?"
After all, Dorian was Joshua's child.
Maybe if he begged a few times, Joshua would soften.
"Grandma, then take me to find him. I'll beg him. As long as Mom can come out, I'm willing to do anything."
Dorian just wanted to save Ella. Learning that begging that bad man could get Ella out, he couldn't care about anything else.
"You're really willing to beg him?"
Rhea was a bit surprised.
Dorian nodded his head.
But Zachary refused, "Dorian, we won't beg that kind of person. We need to have dignity, understand?"
"Besides, if you go there, he might lock you up and not let you leave like last time."
Dorian was Ella's treasure. If he went to Joshua's side, Ella's time at the police station would be for nothing.
So he had to stop Dorian from begging Joshua.
Dorian pouted, looking at Zachary with tears in his eyes.
"Dad, but I want Mom. I've already lost Aurora. I don't want to lose Mom too, and I don't want Mom to suffer in prison. Please take me to see that bad man."
If the way to save her was for him to go back to that bad man, he would go.
As long as she could come out, even if he had to stay with that bad man for the rest of his life, he was willing.
"Dorian."
Rhea hugged Dorian tightly, feeling heartbroken, and looked at Zachary, "You can see the child can't be without his mother. Ella must be missing her child these past few days too. We understand your feelings, but if you love Ella, don't you want her to be well?"
They still hoped Zachary would voluntarily divorce Ella.
Only by meeting Joshua's demands could Ella not only get out but also avoid a lot of trouble.
Zachary hesitated.
He really didn't want to give up Ella like this.
He stood up and said, "I'll go to the police station first to see Ella and hear what she has to say."
The Lewis family didn't stop him.
Nor did they actually send Dorian to the Thomas family.
After all, Ella had hurt Joshua to bring Dorian back.
Sending him over like this would make Ella sad if she found out.
They still wanted to hear Ella's opinion.
At the police station.
Zachary saw Ella, who hadn't slept in days.
She looked much more haggard than before, and seemed listless.
Through the glass window, Zachary picked up the phone, his eyes full of heartache, his voice hoarse.
"Are you okay?"
Ella forced a smile, "I'm fine. There's food and drink here, it's pretty good. The Thomas family must have filed charges, right? Did they say when the trial will be?"
She really wanted to know the result sooner.
That way she wouldn't be so anxious all the time.
Otherwise, not being able to see the future and staying up night after night was really hard to bear.
Zachary shook his head, "There's no news about the trial yet, but Joshua woke up. He said he can sign a settlement letter to let you out, but..."
Ella's expression froze slightly.
Hearing that Joshua had woken up, her furrowed brow relaxed, her feelings complicated.
Sometimes, she really wished Joshua would die.
But why didn't he die?
If he didn't die, he would definitely cause trouble again!
Looking at Zachary, Ella asked, "But what?"
Zachary didn't hide anything and said frankly, "Joshua said that as long as you divorce me and take Dorian back to the Thomas family, he'll sign the settlement letter and let bygones be bygones to let you out."
He also couldn't bear to see Ella suffer in prison.
After all, they had just gotten married and hadn't even had a proper life together yet.
After telling Ella the truth, he would see what she chose!
If her choice was Joshua, he would make it happen for her.
However, after hearing this, Ella laughed, but the next second her face instantly darkened, and she said without hesitation, "He's dreaming."
"I will never take Dorian back to the Thomas family. Is Dorian with my parents now?"
Zachary nodded.
Ella continued, "Go back and tell my parents to take good care of Dorian. I don't need Joshua's settlement. I just hope he dies. Even if I stay in prison for the rest of my life, I won't take Dorian back to his side."
That Joshua simply didn't deserve it.
He still wanted to use her release to threaten her.
Did he think she would compromise?
She dared to try to kill him, so she never expected to get away with it.
"Ella."
Hearing Ella's firm choice, Zachary's heart ached uncontrollably.
This was not only comfort for him but also made him determined to stand on the same side as Ella.
He told Ella, "Don't worry, I'll find a way to get you out. I'm just sorry you have to go through this for now."
Ella shook her head and instead acted as if nothing was wrong, smiling.
"I don't feel wronged. Go ahead and do what you need to do. Also, help me watch over Dorian and tell my parents not to worry about me. It's pretty good here."
How could Zachary not know that the police station might be okay, but if she really went to prison, it wouldn't be like this.
After getting Ella's thoughts, he also had the motivation to continue fighting against Joshua.
After talking with Ella for a few more minutes, he got up and left when time was up.
Back at the Lewis family, Zachary told them about Ella's thoughts.
But they still held their previous view—they didn't want to keep fighting a lawsuit with the Thomas family.
This would do Ella no good at all.
If Ella was really sent to prison, she'd get at least three years, or more than ten years at worst.
How could they just watch Ella go to prison and suffer?
The next day, while Zachary was out meeting with lawyers, Rhea personally took Dorian to Thomas Manor.
Ava received them personally.
Seeing Dorian, Ava lowered her stance, kindly trying to please him.
"Dorian, come here to Grandma. Grandma has prepared lots of gifts for you."
She still really liked Dorian.
Especially thinking about Aurora's death—half of it was caused by her.
If she hadn't told the doctor to act, maybe Aurora would still be alive.
Because of the guilt in her heart, Ava wanted to make up for everything with Dorian.
Dorian's eyes were red. He didn't want to get close to Ava, just pouted pitifully and said, "Can I see that person? Let me go see him."
Ava asked, "You mean your dad? You came to see your dad?"
Dorian nodded.
Ava thought Dorian also felt sorry for Joshua, so she quickly took his little hand, "Okay, Grandma will take you to see Dad."
Rhea followed behind them.
In the Thomas family medical room, Joshua was still lying in bed on an IV. Samuel sat beside him, also trying to persuade him not to hold a grudge against Ella.
Considering all the grievances Ella had suffered for the sake of the two children.
But Joshua was unmoved.
He thought that if he just held on a little longer, Ella would compromise.
Hearing movement at the door, the two looked up.
Seeing it was Dorian walking in, both were very surprised.
Samuel stood up and called to him, "Dorian, how did you get here?"
Seeing Ava give him a look, realizing something, Samuel tactfully got up and left.
Leaving time for the father and son.
Joshua was still lying in bed, unable to move.
Looking at Dorian, a warm current suddenly surged through his heart.
He opened his mouth and called softly, "Dorian, did you come to see Dad?"
Dorian's eyes were full of hatred for Joshua.
He really hated this bad man to death.
If it weren't for him, Ella wouldn't have been taken away by the police.
But now Rhea told him that only by begging Joshua would Ella be released from the police station.
For Ella's sake, he could only beg him.
Even though he really didn't want to call this bad man Dad, Dorian tried hard to suppress his dislike, knelt on the ground, tears streaming down.
"Dad, please let them release my mom, okay? As long as you let my mom out, I promise you, I'll stay by your side."
Seeing Dorian's actions, Joshua's heart tightened.
He really didn't expect Dorian would come to beg him.
The Lewis family must have taught him to do this!
Joshua raised his hand wanting to pull Dorian up, but because his injuries were on his chest and abdomen, he couldn't move at all.
He could only lie there, looking at Dorian and gesturing, "Get up first."
"Dad, don't you just want me? I'll stay with you from now on, but let my mom out. Mom has worked so hard taking care of me and Aurora. Please don't make her suffer anymore, okay?"
