Chapter 147
Joshua knew that Ella wouldn't hurt him.
Even if she didn't have feelings for him, he was at least Dorian's father.
How could she bear to let Dorian lose his biological father?
So he puffed out his chest and moved closer to Ella, betting that she wouldn't actually stab him.
The moment the knife fell into her palm, Ella instinctively gripped the handle. Looking at Joshua who was right in front of her, she felt dazed and unconsciously stepped back.
"Joshua, don't push me. Give Dorian back to me."
Joshua's eyes were sharp and cold as he looked at her, "I told you, if you want Dorian, go divorce Zachary."
"Without my permission, who said you could find a stepfather for Dorian? Just go divorce him tomorrow, okay?"
Joshua softened his tone.
He really hoped Ella would think more about the little moments they had shared together.
Back then, hadn't they also had good times?
Why would she get married so quickly, just like that?
Joshua couldn't accept that the woman he loved had become someone else's wife. This marriage had to end.
"I won't divorce him."
Ella stuck to her position. She seemed to faintly hear Dorian's cries coming from upstairs.
She pushed past him, trying to go upstairs to find Dorian.
Joshua blocked her, "I won't let you take Dorian away."
Ella couldn't get through and couldn't see Dorian.
And in her hand, she still gripped that dagger, glaring viciously at Joshua.
"Move."
"I said, go divorce Zachary."
Joshua gritted his teeth, his face twisted. Clearly he was running out of patience.
Ella had also lost her patience. She raised the dagger in her hand.
"Move, or I won't be nice about it."
Joshua knew she wouldn't dare, so he deliberately pressed against the blade, "Kill me, then you can take Dorian away."
If Ella couldn't divorce Zachary, living would only make him feel like a walking corpse. He might as well die.
If he died, he could go to the afterlife to see Aurora.
If he died, his heart wouldn't hurt so much anymore.
Otherwise, living and watching the woman he loved take his child into another man's arms would be more painful than anything else for Joshua.
"Joshua, you're forcing me to do this. I just want my Dorian. Since you want to die so badly, fine, I'll help you."
Dorian's cries were still coming from upstairs.
Ella couldn't take it anymore. Gripping the dagger with both hands, she steeled herself and thrust it hard toward Joshua's chest.
The whole world went quiet.
That sharp dagger pierced right into Joshua's flesh. In the blink of an eye, blood gushed out.
Pain swept through every nerve in Joshua's body at that moment.
He stared at Ella with bloodshot eyes, his breathing becoming increasingly rapid and difficult.
Ella stared back at him.
Her eyes were filled with shock and helplessness.
"We could have parted on good terms, so why wouldn't you just let me go? Do you know how much I hate you? I really wish you would die."
Afraid that one stab wasn't fatal enough.
Ella pulled out the dagger and stabbed Joshua in the abdomen again.
"Since you want to die so badly, I'll let you die. You can go keep Aurora company. After all, she liked you so much. With you there, she probably won't be lonely anymore!"
When she stabbed his abdomen, blood flowed along the blade, soaking her hands.
It was clear that Ella was also very scared.
Her whole body was shaking uncontrollably.
But if she didn't take Joshua's life, he wouldn't give Dorian back to her.
Dorian was her everything. Even if it meant a life for a life, she had to get Dorian back.
"Ella..."
Joshua endured the pain in his chest and abdomen, weakly calling out her name. His whole body swayed unsteadily as if he might collapse at any moment.
He had always believed that Ella wouldn't hurt him.
After all, they had been husband and wife.
And she had stayed with the Thomas family for five years.
Even if there was no love, there should at least be some gratitude, right?
But.
He seemed to be wrong.
Joshua looked down at Ella still gripping the dagger stuck in his abdomen, blood continuously flowing out. She didn't seem to soften even a bit. Her face was ice-cold, truly wishing for his death.
Why was this happening?
Why had Ella come to hate him so much?
Joshua couldn't stand any longer. His vision blurred, and he swayed and fell to the ground.
Ella stepped back in fright, but her hands still gripped that bloody dagger. She stood there frozen, watching Joshua fall. To say she wasn't panicking would be a lie.
She had really killed Joshua.
She had killed someone.
Ella suddenly felt her mind go blank.
Just then, Dorian ran down from upstairs, running and shouting, "Mommy, Mommy..."
Ella snapped back to reality. Instinctively dropping the dagger, she rushed over with her blood-covered hands and hugged Dorian.
"Dorian, are you okay?"
"Mommy, let's go. I don't want to be here. They're all bad people."
Dorian cried, pulling Ella toward the door.
Ella quickly followed.
But she couldn't help looking back at Joshua lying in a pool of blood.
She didn't know why, but seeing Joshua about to die, her heart actually hurt.
After hesitating for a few seconds, Ava and several servants caught up.
"Joshua, Joshua, what's wrong?"
Ava didn't have time to worry about Dorian. Seeing Joshua lying in a pool of blood in the living room, covered in blood.
She was terrified and rushed over.
Ella knew she couldn't escape. Killing someone meant paying with your life.
She quickly took Dorian's hand and headed out.
Passing by Brian at the door, in front of a group of bodyguards.
Everyone who saw her covered in blood didn't dare approach.
Brian also returned to the villa to see what was happening.
Ella led Dorian to the entrance and handed him to Heath, choking up as she instructed, "Dad, take Dorian away. Take good care of him from now on, and don't let him get taken away again."
"Mommy."
Dorian sensed something and didn't want to leave.
Heath saw the blood on Ella and quickly grabbed her, asking with concern, "What happened? Ella, where are you hurt?"
Mason was also shocked, not expecting Ella to actually bring Dorian out.
But where did the blood on her come from?
Ella explained, "I killed Joshua. They definitely won't let me go. You guys help me take Dorian away, hurry!"
If they didn't leave now, it would be too late.
Ava would definitely make her pay with her life for Joshua.
She wouldn't try to escape either.
After all, she had wanted Joshua dead.
She just felt sorry for her Dorian.
From now on, he wouldn't even have a mother.
Ella crouched down and hugged Dorian, unable to hold back her tears.
"What?"
Heath was shocked, but also worried about Ella. He took Dorian's hand with one hand and pulled Ella with the other.
"Come with us."
Mason quickly opened the car door.
But before Ella could get in the car with them, Brian sent people rushing over.
"Stop her."
The bodyguards understood and immediately moved forward to block Ella from getting in the car.
The Lewis family's bodyguards, Heath and Mason quickly protected Ella behind them. The two sides faced off, the atmosphere tense.
Brian came over and said, "Mr. Lewis, Ms. Garcia stabbed Mr. Thomas. He's already passed out. Mrs. Thomas asked me to send her to the police station. I hope you won't interfere, or I won't mind using force."
Clearly, the Thomas family had more bodyguards.
If it came to a fight, the Lewis family wouldn't stand a chance.
"If Joshua hadn't taken Dorian, would Ella have hurt him?"
Heath gripped Ella's hand tightly, unwilling to let go.
Despite his age, his presence was just as strong as any young person's.
Brian said, "The child is also our CEO's. It's perfectly reasonable for a father to have his son over for a few days. You'd better not waste your effort. If you don't let Ms. Garcia stay now, the police will come arrest her later anyway. What's the point?"
He hadn't expected Ms. Garcia to be so ruthless.
One stab to Joshua's chest, one to his abdomen.
Such large wounds, blood flowing freely.
It wasn't even certain if he would survive.
"Brian, even if she has to face criminal charges, the police should be the ones to take her. What gives you the right to arrest her?"
Mason signaled for Ella to get in the car, "As long as I'm here today, you won't be able to keep her."
Brian felt there was no need to clash head-on with the Lewis family.
Besides, Joshua liked Ella so much.
If he hadn't allowed Ella to hurt him, how could such a frail person have injured him?
Thinking this, he didn't need to listen to Ava. He quickly signaled to Mason.
"Then hurry up and take her away. Don't block the ambulance here."
Mason understood and picked up Dorian to get in the car.
The Lewis family quickly left with Ella and her son, disappearing from the entrance of the Thomas Manor.
Soon after, Samuel rushed over. The Thomas Manor had its own medical room, so there was no need to go to the hospital. Samuel immediately performed emergency surgery on Joshua.
After Ava sent Joshua into the operating room, she saw Brian come over but didn't see Ella.
She demanded, "Didn't I tell you to detain Ella? You let her go?"
Brian lowered his head, "The Lewis family had too many people. I was afraid they'd make a big scene and things would get out of hand. I let Ms. Garcia go back with them first."
"You useless fool, who told you to make that decision on your own?"
Ava was furious and immediately ordered the butler beside her to call the police.
She was determined to send Ella to prison.
Joshua was the Thomas family's only hope.
If he died, she would definitely make Ella pay with her life.
On the way back to the Lewis Villa.
Ella held Dorian in her arms, her whole body still trembling.
In her mind, the image of Joshua covered in blood kept appearing.
She had clearly wanted Joshua to die.
But after actually hurting him, she was afraid.
Ella didn't even know what she was afraid of.
"Ella, don't worry. Even if it costs me my life, I'll protect you."
Heath raised his hand to embrace Ella, wanting to give her enough sense of security.
Mason asked, "Did you hurt Joshua badly? Will he die?"
Ella lowered her head, then shook it. Her eyes seemed covered in fog.
"I don't know, but he bled a lot. He should die, right?"
She had stabbed near his heart. The second stab should have hit his kidney too.
Plus with all that blood loss, even if Samuel was there, he probably couldn't save him.
Ella held Dorian tightly and choked up as she told him, "Dorian, when Mommy's not here anymore, you have to listen to Grandpa and Grandma. You have to grow up happy and healthy, okay?"
