Chapter 135
When the emergency room door was pulled open, Ella lost her composure and rushed forward. Seeing that Dorian was already awake, she asked with concern, "Dorian, are you okay? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Dorian sat up from the gurney, shaking his head, "Mom, I'm fine. You don't need to worry."
He reached out and held Ella's hand.
Seeing Joshua nearby, Dorian's face immediately turned cold.
Joshua saw that Dorian seemed quite energetic and didn't look like he was seriously poisoned, but he still asked Samuel on Ella's behalf, "Scarlett said he drank poison. Did you detect what kind of poison it was? Can it be treated?"
Samuel sighed, "I didn't detect any poison. I did find some sedatives though. He'll be fine now that he's awake."
Ella didn't believe it and immediately picked up Dorian, "Dorian, let's go to another hospital."
Back then, she had also begged Samuel to save Aurora, but he was just as cold-blooded and heartless as Joshua, not even glancing at Aurora.
Maybe this time he didn't care about Dorian's life either.
To be safe, Ella carried Dorian away to get re-examined at another hospital.
Samuel was amused by her behavior, "She actually doubts my medical skills?"
Joshua watched Ella and Dorian's retreating figures and explained, "Don't take it personally. After all, we did nothing to save Aurora back then. It's normal for her to have other thoughts."
Still worried about Dorian, he asked again, "Are you sure the child isn't poisoned? His life isn't in danger?"
Samuel was helpless, "Why would I lie to you? He just took some sedatives. I'm very sorry about Aurora. I definitely won't be careless this time."
He knew that Joshua and Ella had gotten close again recently.
About Aurora's death, he had always felt guilty.
He wanted to apologize to Ella in person, but felt too ashamed to do so.
Joshua acknowledged and caught up with Ella, patiently persuading her, "If Samuel says it's fine, it should be fine. You don't need to worry."
Ella didn't listen. She took Dorian out of the hospital, and when she got in the car, Joshua was about to follow but was stopped by Dorian, "Don't follow us. Go away. I don't want to see you."
Joshua had just looked at Ella for help, hoping to get her approval.
But Ella didn't even glance at him and drove off directly.
Leaving him standing alone by the roadside, quite frustrated.
These past few days, Joshua could tell that while Ella had contact with him on the surface, she wasn't actually warm toward him.
This made him feel like he couldn't get into Ella's heart.
Joshua felt a bit troubled.
He didn't know what to do to make Ella reluctant to leave him like she used to be.
While he was frowning, Samuel appeared behind him, "Didn't catch up with the mother and son?"
For the sake of saving face, Joshua didn't say that Ella had deliberately left him behind. He turned to Samuel, and thinking of what Scarlett had said earlier, he became more cautious, "Help me with something."
"What?"
"Help me do a paternity test between Dorian and me."
Although Ella had denied it, saying Dorian wasn't his child.
But there were some things Joshua still couldn't figure out.
He couldn't understand how Ella knew about what happened between him and Scarlett four years ago.
He couldn't understand why Scarlett would say such things.
Even if the child wasn't his, at least doing the test would stop him from overthinking.
Samuel laughed, "Don't you know in your heart whether the child is yours or not?"
Joshua shook his head, "I don't know in my heart, but I have doubts, that's why I'm asking you to do it."
"Alright then, tell me, what are your doubts? Did you have sex with Ella four years ago? And then she ran away with the child?"
There was some teasing in Samuel's words.
He knew very well that four years ago, Joshua didn't like Ella at all.
He definitely wouldn't have had sex with Ella.
So Ella's child should have nothing to do with him.
Joshua was silent for a while, then asked Samuel, "How old do you think Dorian is?"
Samuel laughed again, "Three years and a few months, no more than six months at most."
Joshua was shocked, staring at him intently, "Dorian is only a little over two years old, isn't he? How did he become over three?"
Ella had told him Dorian's age.
At the time, he just thought it was remarkable that a two-year-old child could speak so well.
But Dorian and Aurora did seem much more mature than children their age.
"What are you talking about? I'm a doctor. Can't I tell a child's age? He's over three, which means Ella got pregnant shortly after going abroad."
Samuel was adamant, indicating his conclusion couldn't be wrong.
Joshua was stunned.
If Dorian was over three, then Ella should have been pregnant when she went abroad.
But at that time, there were no men around Ella at all.
She couldn't possibly have gotten pregnant with a stranger's child.
Thinking of that night four years ago, Ella was also at his birthday party and knew about what happened between him and Scarlett.
Joshua suddenly became excited, grabbing Samuel with an urgent voice, "No matter what, hurry up and do a paternity test between me and Dorian."
Samuel asked him, "Do you really suspect the child is yours? Were you together with her four years ago?"
"Stop talking nonsense and go do it."
Joshua had lost his patience.
Samuel removed his hand and sighed, "Fine, I'll do it for you. The blood sample we drew from Dorian earlier should still have a backup. Come with me."
Joshua felt inexplicably nervous.
Following Samuel, his legs were even trembling a bit.
Actually, he didn't want Dorian to have any connection with him.
After all, he had been so disgusted with Dorian before, and had done nothing to save Aurora.
He had even said many insulting things to Ella.
As long as the child wasn't his, everything could still be fixed.
But if it really was his child, Joshua couldn't imagine the consequences.
Ella took Dorian to another hospital for blood tests, and still no poison was detected.
But they did find that he had been given sedatives.
Dorian said, "That bad woman covered my mouth and nose with a towel. I couldn't break free and passed out right away."
When he woke up, he was already lying on a hospital bed.
He had diagnosed himself and confirmed there was nothing seriously wrong.
Ella was still worried and asked Dorian, "She didn't force you to drink any medicine or anything?"
Dorian shook his head, "She tricked Grandma. After Grandma let her in the car, she tied up Grandma halfway. I was going to run but didn't make it in time, and she covered my mouth and nose with the towel."
The doctor told Ella, "Don't worry, the child is fine now."
Only then did Ella feel relieved.
Maybe Scarlett just wanted to scare her at the time?
Thinking that Samuel also said Dorian was fine, she left with Dorian.
When returning to the hospital where Rhea was staying, she received a call from Heath asking how she and Dorian were doing.
Ella quickly brought Dorian to Rhea's ward.
Seeing that Rhea's injuries had also been treated and that Rhea was conscious with no life-threatening danger, she felt relieved.
Rhea saw Ella and quickly waved, "Dorian, Ella, are you both okay? Can the poison Scarlett mentioned be treated?"
Ella explained to Rhea that everything was fine.
Seeing Mason standing nearby with his head down, looking guilty, she asked him, "Scarlett should be in a psychiatric prison now, right?"
Mason didn't deny it.
He never knew Scarlett could be so obsessive and crazy.
Kidnapping Rhea was one thing, but she also hurt Rhea.
Although she was injured too.
But for killing Aurora and Aiden, Scarlett should never be able to get out of prison for the rest of her life.
"Get a lawyer to handle it. I don't want her to ever get out again in this lifetime."
Ella reminded him.
Heath beside them said firmly, "Ella, don't worry. I've already had a lawyer handle it. Scarlett won't get out. She'll stay in prison for the rest of her life."
Ella pulled Dorian into her arms.
Since her goal had been achieved.
It was time for her to prepare to leave with Dorian.
Thinking that Dorian had also been frightened today, Ella told Rhea, "Mom, you rest well. I'll take Dorian back first."
Rhea nodded in agreement, "Okay, you two go rest. Mason is here to keep me company."
Ella took Dorian back to the Lewis family. As soon as they entered, the butler came over to report, "Ms. Garcia, Mr. Baker is here. He says he has something to discuss with you."
Ella looked toward the living room.
Who else could it be but Zachary?
His timing was perfect.
Leading Dorian over, before she could speak, Dorian threw himself into Zachary's arms, saying pitifully, "Mr. Baker, if you hadn't come, I almost wouldn't have been able to see you again."
Zachary picked him up and looked at Ella, "What happened? What's going on?"
Ella told him everything that happened today.
She also said, "When Scarlett is sentenced, let's go back to Eldoria."
As for what the Lewis family had given her, she decided to return it to Mason.
Whether she would come back in the future would depend on the situation.
She might occasionally come back to see Heath and Rhea, and pay respects to Aurora and Aiden.
But she just didn't want to see a certain someone.
Zachary was a bit surprised, "Have you really decided? But if you leave, what about the shares and assets the Lewis family gave you? They probably won't let you take them, right?"
Ella had told him before that she would leave after getting her revenge.
He believed it.
But later Ella told him that the Lewis family had given her the inheritance rights and asked her to replace Mason as president.
If Ella left with him, wouldn't she have to give up everything?
Ella looked dejected and smiled sadly, "Although having money and power can satisfy all of a person's desires, after having those things, I'm not happy. I still want to leave."
She would make a new tombstone for Aurora and take it with her.
For the rest of her life, she didn't want to have anything to do with Joshua.
"I want to leave too, to go back to the place where Aurora and I used to live. Mr. Baker, let's leave together, okay?"
Dorian agreed with Ella's decision.
Zachary could only nod in agreement, "Okay, then I'll make arrangements right away. Once Scarlett is sentenced and in prison, we'll return to Eldoria."
After reaching a consensus, Ella first took Dorian back to their room to rest.
Just after putting Dorian to sleep, Joshua's call came in.
She didn't want to answer.
The phone kept ringing.
Finally, she just turned it off.
But soon after, the butler came to the door to remind her, "Ms. Garcia, Mr. Thomas is here. He's waiting for you in the downstairs living room."
