Chapter 113
Looking at what Ella was holding in her hand, Mason thought she had stolen it from him. He let go of her and snatched it away, furiously saying, "Ella, you really never learn. Do you just love stealing other people's things that much?"
He didn't know when Ella had taken it, and afraid of losing it, he quickly and carefully put it away.
Ella, finally released, gasped for air in big gulps.
Seeing Mason take away her item, she reminded him, "Check your pockets. Is that really yours?"
Mason felt around in the inner lining of his clothes and indeed found another key.
He took it out.
Two identical keys appeared before his eyes, leaving him shocked and unable to react for a long time.
The next second, he excitedly connected the two keys together and joined them.
They actually fit together perfectly without any gap, forming one complete key.
Mason could hardly believe it. He grabbed Ella again and demanded frantically, "Where did you get this? Tell me now."
This golden key was a gift he had given his sister Flora Lewis for her third birthday.
Mason had told Flora that when she turned eighteen, he would give her the other half of the key. When the two halves came together, she could unlock her coming-of-age ceremony.
But Flora went missing when she was four, and they could never find her.
So he had kept his half with him all this time, hoping that if he ever saw Flora again, he could give it to her personally.
He never expected Ella to have Flora's key.
Mason was too excited.
Having the key—didn't that prove Flora was still alive? Following this lead, they could find Flora soon.
He stared at Ella, expecting her to tell him where she got the key.
Ella's expression was calm as she told the truth, "I've had this key since I was little. A few days ago, I ran into your mom while driving. I took some of her hair and got a DNA test done with mine. The results showed that your mom and I are related."
Ella wasn't saying she had to claim this family connection.
She could choose not to.
But Scarlett had to pay the price.
Knowing Mason would do anything for Scarlett, only by revealing her identity could she stay alive.
"What did you say?"
Mason was thunderstruck, hardly believing what he heard.
So Ella was his sister?
How was that possible?
He couldn't accept it.
Avoiding Ella, Mason staggered back two steps.
Ella didn't want to accept this truth either, but to get revenge for Aiden and Aurora, she had no choice but to use the Lewis family's power.
Knowing Mason was suspicious, she reminded him, "If you don't believe me, my test results are still at the hospital. You can come with me to get them."
She could tell Mason didn't want to admit she was his sister.
Maybe he really wanted to strangle her right here for Scarlett's sake.
If even family ties couldn't move him, then this brother wasn't worth claiming anyway.
"You're my sister? You're saying you're my sister who's been missing for twenty years? But you don't look anything like her. Don't you have a family? How could you be my sister?"
Mason shouted frantically, still unable to accept this fact.
Ella watched his reaction, her heart turning cold.
She thought when he found out she was his sister, he would hug her excitedly and say, "Finally, I found you."
But what was she seeing instead?
It was as if finding out she was Mason's sister was something shameful to him.
Not wanting to explain further, Ella got out and went to the driver's seat, starting the engine to leave.
But Mason raised his hand to hold the steering wheel, his voice trembling, "I'll go to the hospital with you to get the results."
He thought Ella probably wouldn't dare lie to him about this.
This kind of thing couldn't be faked.
He could have someone do a test and the truth would come out.
But he still couldn't believe Ella was the sister they'd been searching for all these twenty years.
If his sister was Ella, how could he bear to hurt her?
Mason got into the passenger seat, staring at Ella the whole way.
He asked her, "Why did you think to get tested with my mom?"
Ella didn't hide anything and told him, "I saw that you had the same key as me."
"And from the first moment I saw you, I felt you were familiar, but I couldn't remember."
She was four when she went missing, so logically she should have some memory.
But Ella couldn't remember anything.
If she hadn't seen Mason's key, if she hadn't paid extra attention, she wouldn't have gotten the test done.
She didn't expect the test results would actually surprise her.
"I'm sorry."
Mason held the joined key in his hand, thinking about what he'd done to Ella before. He was filled with regret and guilt.
Ella ignored him and drove the car straight back to the city.
She asked Mason, "You didn't bring me out to visit your mom, did you? You wanted to do something to me, right?"
Even if Rhea went to a nursing home, she wouldn't stay at one in the countryside—that would be too inconvenient.
Mason brought her here because Scarlett told him to.
That Scarlett would stop at nothing to deal with her.
Thinking of his purpose, Mason found it hard to speak.
If Ella beside him really was his sister, how could he tell her why he brought her here?
Mason kept quiet and said nothing, still wanting to see the test results first.
Ella glanced at him and asked again, "Do you know or not that Scarlett kidnapped my daughter?"
She could let go of how Mason had treated her before.
But if he knew about it and participated with Scarlett in kidnapping her daughter, she would never forgive him.
Not only would she not forgive him, she would make them all pay the price.
Mason denied, "I didn't know your daughter was kidnapped."
And he didn't believe Scarlett would do such a thing.
Ella didn't know if he was hiding anything from her, and continued, "Can you not tell Scarlett about our relationship yet? Don't tell your parents either."
She couldn't provoke Scarlett using Joshua.
She didn't know if using Mason would work.
Whether it would or not, she wanted to try.
Mason kept quiet without responding.
His mind was still in a daze.
He still couldn't quite accept this fact.
He needed some time to process it.
Ella urged, "If you truly care about that sister from before, please cooperate with me."
It took Mason a long time to respond with a sound.
After the car arrived at the testing center, Ella got the test results. She didn't look at the one between her and Rhea, but handed it directly to Mason.
Then she checked the one for Dorian and Joshua.
The result shows that both parties tested have a biological father son relationship.
In other words, Dorian and Joshua were father and son.
The man from that night four years ago really was Joshua.
Ella stood there stunned, holding the test result in her hand, unable to react for a long time.
Mason finished reading his copy and confirmed that Ella in front of him really was his sister. He still felt uncomfortable and didn't know what to say.
After a long while, he asked Ella, "Whose is that one you have?"
Ella snapped back to reality, quickly put away the test report in her hand, and told Mason, "If you're afraid I faked it, you can do another test with me and your family. I have something to take care of now, so I'll go first."
Ella pulled out some of her own hair and handed it to him, then took the other report and turned to leave.
