Chapter 86
Ella was released.
Zachary personally went to the police station to pick her up.
She assumed that she got out because of Zachary's help.
When Zachary reached out to hold her hand, she didn't refuse.
After the two got into the car at the police station entrance, they completely failed to notice that in a car not far away, Joshua was watching them with eyes red as if wounded.
This time, he watched helplessly as Ella was taken away by another man.
He didn't make any move.
Even though he still felt jealous and hurt inside.
But thinking about how he would divorce her once he got back, Joshua felt he shouldn't control Ella too tightly.
Otherwise, she would only hate him more.
Joshua drove to the hospital.
Still, he didn't interfere with Ella. He just called Zachary.
He told Zachary to take her back to Emerald City and have them wait for him there.
Receiving Joshua's call caught Zachary somewhat off guard.
He put away his phone, walked up to Ella, and told her honestly, "Joshua asked me to take you back to Emerald City and have you wait for him there. Once he gets back, you two will get divorced."
He had been thinking about finding the best lawyer to file for divorce on Ella's behalf.
He never expected Joshua would actually agree to divorce on his own.
If this wasn't heaven helping him, what was it?
Ella thought she had misheard. "Joshua agreed to the divorce?"
"No mistake about it. When do you plan to go back? I'll arrange it right away. The sooner you get divorced, the better."
As long as Ella was willing, he would immediately arrange for her to return home to get divorced.
Then he would bring her two children back as well.
From then on, the mother and her two children would be his.
He wondered if Aurora and Dorian would still recognize him after not seeing him for a year.
Ella hesitated for a moment. Instead of directly answering Zachary's question, she asked, "Do you know which hospital Scarlett is in?"
There was no way she would let Scarlett off the hook just like that.
Scarlett had nearly killed her and Aurora, and had caused the death of Aiden who loved her most.
No matter what, she had to make Scarlett pay.
"What are you planning to do? You finally got out, just wait until we get back home. After we return, I'll send people to help you deal with it. Why do you need to do it yourself?"
Zachary looked at her with concern and tried to comfort her gently, "Don't forget that Aurora and Dorian still need you very much. Without you, how would they live in the future?"
"Promise me, don't do anything so extreme again. If you want to kill someone, or set a fire, or if anyone bothers you, just tell me. I'll do it for you."
Zachary had said before that if Ella didn't like him, he could let her go.
But if they had a chance to meet again, that would prove they still had fate together.
When that time came, he couldn't possibly miss the opportunity again.
So this time, Zachary would hold on tight. No matter what price he had to pay, he would keep Ella by his side.
"My business, I want to handle it myself."
Ella knew that Zachary must have paid a heavy price to get her out.
But when it came to killing Scarlett, she couldn't drag him into it.
If one day she really did lose her life over this, she truly hoped she could entrust her two children to him.
"Your business is my business."
Zachary was getting a bit angry now. He coldly declared, "Ella, you can refuse to be with me, but I won't let you do anything that could put you in danger."
"I just want to go see Scarlett. I'm not doing anything dangerous."
She just wanted to see if Joshua was still staying by Scarlett's side.
That blind bastard—if he was still with the murderer who killed Aiden, she wouldn't let him off either.
Ella looked at Zachary with pleading eyes.
"If you're afraid I'll do something extreme again, you can come with me and watch over me."
In fact, if she saw Scarlett, she probably wouldn't be able to control herself.
Zachary agreed.
That very night, he took Ella to the hospital.
In Scarlett's hospital room, there was only Joshua.
Mason, disappointed by Scarlett's choices and unable to accept it, had already returned home alone.
When Ella walked into the room, she saw Joshua holding food and feeding Scarlett.
The way he personally attended to her was so glaring it made her feel sick.
Ella rushed over and knocked the food container out of Joshua's hand, filled with rage.
"You're still here taking care of her. Joshua, how many times do I have to tell you—she's the one who killed your grandfather."
Looking at Scarlett again, Ella really couldn't control her emotions of utter hatred. She lunged forward to strangle her.
Zachary quickly came over and held her back.
"Ella, you promised me you wouldn't act impulsively."
"I'm going to kill her. If she hadn't pulled out Grandpa's oxygen tube, how could he have died?"
"Let me go. She deserves to die, deserves to go to hell."
Ella couldn't calm herself down at the sight of Scarlett.
She was gritting her teeth, wanting nothing more than to tear her to pieces.
Joshua couldn't stand seeing her like that. He got up and slapped her across the face.
"Ella, that's enough."
The pain on her face directly brought Ella back to her senses.
She stared at Joshua in a daze, her eyes suddenly turning red.
This Joshua had actually hit her.
Ella laughed bitterly but stubbornly refused to let her tears fall.
"Joshua, are you even a man? Hitting a woman."
Zachary suddenly pushed Joshua away and carefully protected Ella in his arms.
"Ella, are you okay?"
Ella shook her head.
Her gaze went past Joshua to look at Scarlett.
Scarlett smugly raised the corners of her mouth at her, striking a victor's pose.
But the next second, she changed her attitude, crying out in fear and reaching up to grab Joshua.
"Joshua, I'm scared. I don't know why Ella wants to slander me like this, but I really didn't do it."
Joshua raised his hand to comfort her and glared at Ella.
"Get out."
After getting slapped, Ella's heart had gone completely cold.
She had become much more rational overall.
Her eyes, clouded with mist, looked at Joshua with hatred.
"I'm telling you one more time—she personally admitted to me that she pulled out Grandpa's oxygen tube and sent people to kidnap my Aurora. Joshua, if you really stay with her, Grandpa won't rest in peace."
"I told you to leave. Are you deaf?"
Joshua wasn't listening at all. He looked coldly at Zachary.
"Don't you like her? Take her away for me. Take her back to Emerald City. In one week, I'll go and divorce her myself."
This foolish woman, Ella.
Without any evidence, how could she act so impulsively?
Did she even know what he had done to get her out?
Now even after getting out, Ella was still this willful.
Joshua felt that if he didn't be harsh with her, she would only ruin his plans.
"You'll regret this, Joshua. I hate you so much."
Ella was heartbroken. She really couldn't stand to see Joshua with such a vicious woman anymore. She turned and left.
