Chapter 193
The two reached an understanding and went downstairs together for dinner.
The dining room was already full of people.
The nanny was praising Joshua's cooking skills, and Joshua was attentively serving food to Ella, asking her to try this and try that.
Ella could notkeep up with eating it all.
Still, Ella had to admit that Joshua's cooking was pretty good and looked appetizing too.
She was quite satisfied with today's meal.
But after just a few bites, Ella felt nauseous again and wanted to throw up.
She held it in and didn't show it, otherwise it would discourage Joshua.
After dinner, Joshua took her out again.
This time, they didn't bring the kids, just the two of them.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Ella felt really uncomfortable and was not in the mood to go on a date with him.
She asked Joshua, "Where are you taking me?"
"To see the city's night view, a different kind of starry sky."
Joshua had prepared a little surprise for Ella, thinking that they'd been back for over a month now, and Ella had agreed to date him.
It was perfectly normal for them to stay out tonight.
Joshua hoped Ella would willingly stay with him.
Ella was not very interested in those things. Her stomach kept feeling queasy, so she just came clean with Joshua: "Why don't you take me to the hospital instead?"
Hearing this, Joshua looked at her with concern written all over his face. "What's wrong? Are you feeling sick somewhere?"
Ella didn't deny it. "Maybe there's something wrong with my stomach. Take me to the hospital for a checkup first."
Actually, she suspected it might not be her stomach, and her period was also late.
But she thought it couldn't possibly be a pregnancy.
How could she be pregnant?
When she gave birth to Aurora and Dorian, the doctor said her body was too weak and severely damaged, and she wouldn't be able to have children again.
It was because of this issue that she had given birth to Aurora and Dorian without knowing who their father was.
So she shouldn't be pregnant.
Joshua was really worried Ella might have some problem and immediately turned the car around to take her to the hospital.
On the way, he asked, "Should I have Samuel come check on you?"
Ella immediately refused. "He's still upset with me because of Megan. Don't bother him. I think it's just a small problem. I'll just go see a doctor myself."
Joshua agreed.
After taking her to the hospital, he personally accompanied Ella to register.
But at the examination room door, Ella shut Joshua out and wouldn't let him come in to listen.
Sitting across from the doctor, Ella explained her situation.
The doctor had her lie on the bed for an ultrasound.
Soon after, the doctor said, "You're pregnant. The baby is six weeks along. Make sure to rest. You have a body type that makes pregnancy difficult, so it's best not to do any strenuous exercise during the first three months."
Did she hear that right?
Was she really pregnant?
But the doctor had clearly told her back then that she couldn't have children anymore.
How could she suddenly be able to again after seven or eight years?
Ella still couldn't quite believe it. She stared at the doctor. "Could you check more carefully? Am I really pregnant? Are you sure?"
The doctor glanced at her and smiled. "It's showing right here on the computer screen. The gestational sac is so obvious. There's no mistake. You're pregnant."
Ella still found it unbelievable.
So was this child a gift from heaven given to her when she was in Eldoria, when she was in difficult circumstances?
Otherwise, it didn't make sense - how could she get pregnant after just letting herself go once after all these years?
Ella had mixed feelings about this unexpected child.
She didn't know if Aurora and Dorian would mind, and she didn't know how to tell Joshua.
Because of this child, did that mean she and Joshua would have to stay together forever?
Ella didn't believe she and Joshua would have a beautiful future together. She still didn't have much trust in that man.
She had only wanted to give him a chance to prove himself.
Now, suddenly there was a child.
Walking out of the examination room, Ella looked completely dejected.
Joshua immediately came up and asked, "How is it? What did the doctor say? What's the problem?"
Actually, he wanted to go in and ask the doctor himself.
But he couldn't leave Ella alone.
"Let's go. I'll tell you when we get back." Ella pulled Joshua along, and the two left the hospital and got in the car.
Sitting in the passenger seat, she still felt conflicted.
Joshua, who was driving, kept glancing at her, still looking worried. "What exactly is the problem? If you don't tell me, I'm going to turn around and find the doctor."
He should have asked the doctor before leaving with Ella.
Seeing Ella looking so troubled, his whole heart was in his throat.
Having learned from past mistakes, Ella didn't want any more secrets or misunderstandings between them. She took a deep breath and said calmly, "I'm pregnant. The baby is six weeks along."
Joshua didn't notice at first, but the next second, he slammed on the brakes and looked at Ella in shock and disbelief. "What did you say? Say that again."
He suddenly became excited, grabbing Ella's hand, his eyes burning as he stared at her intently.
Ella looked back at him and said firmly, "I said, I'm pregnant."
Although she really liked children.
But this child's arrival didn't bring her much joy.
Because she had never thought about having another marriage.
And she didn't believe Joshua could really make her happy.
Men were all fickle.
Maybe he liked her now, was good to her, always had sweet words on his lips, and tirelessly did anything for her.
But after a long time, would he still be like this?
They still had decades of life ahead.
"Ella, is it really true?" After getting a definite answer, Joshua showed great surprise and excitement.
He quickly pulled the car over to the side of the road, got out, walked around to open the passenger door, and hugged Ella tightly, gently touching her abdomen.
"Is there really a baby that belongs to me in here? Ella, am I dreaming?"
Joshua still couldn't quite believe that Ella, who had once told him she couldn't have children anymore, was now pregnant with his child.
He was going to have another child.
No one could understand his feelings at this moment.
Holding Ella tight in his arms, he wanted to merge her completely into his very bones.
No one knew how timely this child's arrival was.
No one knew how much he looked forward to having a child he could personally accompany from birth come into his world.
Joshua was so happy that his handsome face couldn't help but be covered in smiles.
But Ella couldn't smile. She pushed Joshua away forcefully. "You really like this child?"
Joshua was stunned by her question. He suddenly realized something and immediately restrained the joy in his heart, answering indirectly, "Don't you like it?"
There was not a trace of happiness on Ella's face.
Joshua's heart suddenly tightened, and he inexplicably became anxious.
Ella lowered her eyes and asked flatly, "With this child, what will you do?"
Joshua still didn't quite understand why Ella had suddenly become so sad.
He held her hand and tried hard to suppress his excitement. "Of course, I'm looking forward to his birth. From now on, I'll spend more time taking care of you and being with you. Whatever you want me to do, I'll agree to it, okay?"
He was afraid.
Afraid that Ella didn't want this child.
Afraid that she had not decided to have a future with him.
But he really wouldn't be like before anymore.
He would spend the rest of his life making it up to Ella and the children.
Ella said, "Joshua, let me ask Aurora and Dorian first. If they don't mind, then I'll have the baby. But you can't interfere with my freedom."
She didn't want to immediately change her current situation and delay her work just because of a new child.
This new child couldn't be her whole life anymore.
Joshua nodded in agreement without thinking. "Okay, I'll listen to you. As long as you're willing to have him for me, I'll support whatever you want to do."
Joshua quickly straightened her dress and fastened her seatbelt.
Although he was very happy about this child's appearance, seeing that Ella wasn't very happy, he couldn't show too much excitement.
Finally, he obediently drove Ella home to rest.
It was still early.
The adults and children were all still sitting in the living room.
Seeing that Ella and Joshua had gone out but came back after not long.
Mason laughed mockingly, "That was a quick date. Joshua, looks like you're not up to it."
He had taken her out, but didn't even stay out overnight.
Mason expressed some contempt for Joshua.
Joshua ignored him and went straight upstairs with Ella to rest.
Joshua came back downstairs and told the elders, "Mom and Dad, I have something to tell you."
Heath and Rhea weren't quite used to Joshua calling them that.
After all, he and Ella weren't married yet.
Even if they were dating, there was no need to change how he addressed them now, right?
But they didn't correct him and waited for Joshua to continue.
Joshua pulled Aurora into his arms and told them, "Ella wasn't feeling well just now, so I took her to the hospital for a checkup. She's pregnant, so during this time we all need to take care of her and try not to make her unhappy."
Heath and Rhea, Mason, and Vida were all very surprised, staring at Joshua intently.
"What did you say? Is Ella pregnant? Have you two been together for a while?"
Joshua didn't deny it, but he also knew.
The child was conceived when he and Ella were abroad, trapped in the mountains during that time.
This must be fate!
Thinking about how Ella wasn't very happy about this child's arrival, Joshua looked at them and pleaded, "Mom and Dad, when I'm not around, please try to help me talk to Ella. If she's in a good mood, the baby will be healthy."
Heath and Rhea were naturally happy thinking they would have another grandchild.
They didn't know what Ella was thinking.
They still wanted to respect Ella first and casually agreed to Joshua's request.
Aurora's big eyes sparkled as she asked excitedly, "Daddy, you said Mommy has a baby? Am I going to have another little brother? Wow, that's great! I really like little brothers."
Dorian also stared at Joshua, but showed clear displeasure on his face. "You made my mom pregnant?"
Joshua looked at him, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. "Yes, of course, Daddy made Mommy pregnant. Otherwise, how would she get pregnant?"
"You haven't even learned how to be a good father. How are you qualified to make Mom pregnant again?" Dorian got angry, stood up, and ran upstairs.
