Chapter 13
Ella looked at Joshua's face full of disgust toward her, listening to his humiliating words, tears streaming down her face.
"Are you blaming me? I never thought about coming back to be your wife. You could cancel our engagement for Scarlett, so why can't I have children with someone else?"
Four years ago, if Joshua hadn't taken her to that club, would she have been drugged and raped?
If he hadn't dragged Scarlett in front of Aiden to cancel their engagement, would she have gone abroad?
She never wanted to become a mother of two children.
And she definitely didn't want to end up like this.
Joshua was also at fault, so why was he saying such humiliating things to her now?
Ella felt her heart breaking into pieces from the pain.
She felt so miserable that she couldn't help but squat down and cry out loud.
Joshua looked at her.
He instantly flew into a rage, sweeping all the documents off his desk, then grabbed Ella and shouted angrily in a suppressed voice, "You think I care that you had children with someone else? What I care about is that you deceived me, hid it from me. If I hadn't investigated, were you planning to hide it from me forever?"
"Ella, do you know you've trampled a man's dignity into the ground?"
"You're already a mother of two, how could you still pretend to be a shy innocent girl when being intimate with me?"
Joshua was so furious he wanted to strangle Ella.
If she died, maybe he wouldn't be so angry anymore.
Ella sobbed, trying hard to stop crying, too scared to look at him.
"Then what do you want? Separate me from my children and watch me suffer - would that make you happy?"
"What else?"
Joshua pushed her away in disgust, his tall figure standing before her, imposing and oppressive like a mountain.
"You're cheap to begin with. Without me and the Thomas family, how could you have afforded to study abroad?"
Really not wanting to see her crying and acting weak and pitiful anymore.
Joshua turned his back to her and threw out the words, "Get lost. Don't appear in front of me for three days."
Ella raised her hand to wipe the tears from her cheeks, standing there unwilling to leave.
Her eyes were red as she stared at Joshua, "You won't let me see my children, so I'm not leaving."
Joshua clenched his fists, grinding his back teeth, his handsome face twisted as if he really wanted to kill someone.
His back was stiff and straight as he growled word by word, "I told you to get lost."
"I'm not leaving."
Ella held onto that stubbornness, refusing to compromise for the sake of her children.
Three days of not being allowed to appear.
So for these three days, she couldn't see her children either.
If Aurora and Dorian didn't see her for three days, who knows how much they'd cry.
They were so young, already growing up in a broken family, and now without her company.
How was this different from her own childhood without parents?
The path she had walked, she absolutely couldn't let her children experience it again.
Joshua turned to look at her, gritting his teeth.
Ella lowered her head and threatened, "If you don't let me see them, I'll go tell Grandpa everything. I believe Grandpa will stand up for me."
Aiden loved her so much. Even if she had given birth to someone else's children, he might be disappointed.
But he definitely wouldn't separate her from her children.
If it came down to it, she really would have to go to Aiden for help.
"You dare?"
Joshua stepped forward and grabbed her wrist, squeezing it violently, his eyes like sharp swords looking coldly at her.
"If Grandpa finds out you gave birth to two bastards, won't he be so angry he'd die? If you really dare to go to Grandpa, I'll kill those two children of yours right away."
Ella met his gaze, her eyes red with anger, "You dare?"
"If you don't behave, you'll see if I dare or not."
Joshua pushed her away again.
Although he was furious inside, he was also very clear that this matter couldn't be brought before the elders.
Otherwise, he'd lose all face.
Joshua tried hard to suppress the anger in his chest and had to choose to compromise.
"Get out and do your job properly."
Ella still stood there motionless, her delicate little face puffed up with stubbornness.
"I want to see my children."
Joshua was about to explode with anger, shouting through gritted teeth, "Do you believe I'll have someone kill them right now?"
Ella was really afraid he'd do something crazy, so she quickly squatted down to pick up the documents from the floor.
After tidying up, she quickly left the office.
As soon as she left, Joshua still couldn't help but get angry again.
The violence and impulse he had been suppressing a moment ago were all vented on the items covering the desk.
Before long, the entire spacious and luxurious office was in complete disarray.
Ella was right outside the door.
That's where her workstation was.
Her role was Joshua's secretary-assistant.
She was both secretary and assistant, but only responsible for Joshua's daily life, wardrobe, and schedule reporting.
Other arrangements would be handled by Brian and passed to her.
Seeing it was almost noon, Ella adjusted her mindset and went to prepare lunch for Joshua.
When she came back, she noticed that her colleagues in the secretarial office were looking at her differently.
Ella knew that becoming Joshua's secretary-assistant would make others gossip.
But she didn't want to get involved with them, so she carried the food into the office.
But the chaos before her eyes, and Scarlett who had appeared near the sofa, dining with Joshua.
Made her heart, which had just relaxed, tighten up again.
Were they not even pretending anymore, being so blatant about it?
Ella knew that Joshua loved Scarlett in his heart.
But before they were even divorced, Joshua was so openly together with Scarlett - she still couldn't help but care.
Without going over to assert her authority, Ella awkwardly retreated from the office and closed the door.
She thought she wouldn't care about Scarlett's presence.
But now they were right under her nose, and she felt her heart being pulled with waves of pain.
To prevent others from noticing her distress, Ella kept her head down and wanted to go to the restroom.
But before she could walk away, the office door was pulled open.
Scarlett was dressed glamorously with exquisite makeup.
Wearing designer high heels, she was proud, confident, and very elegant.
She looked at Ella, disdain flashing in her eyes, "Joshua wants you to come in and clean up."
Ella really wanted to ignore her.
But her two children were in Joshua's hands. If she didn't do what Joshua said, who knows what he would do to her children.
Ella walked past Scarlett into the office, keeping her head down and sensibly going to clean up the mess on the floor.
Scarlett looked down at her condescendingly.
She really couldn't understand why Joshua would keep Ella by his side.
Very concerned, Scarlett disdainfully avoided the mess on the floor, walked over to sit beside Joshua, and pretended to be sympathetic.
"Joshua, how can you make Ella do this kind of work? No matter what, she's still your sister."
Joshua and Ella had been husband and wife for a year, but no outsiders ever knew.
Even Scarlett had always thought that as long as Joshua was still by her side, she had a chance to take the position.
But now that Joshua was keeping Ella by his side, she was getting a bit panicked.
Joshua didn't even glance at Ella, responding coldly, "She's not my sister, and she doesn't deserve to be."
"What's wrong with you?"
Scarlett glanced at Ella and deliberately asked, "Did you have a fight with Ella?"
Joshua was a bit impatient, but still took the initiative to put his arm around Scarlett's slender waist, leaning close to her with an ambiguous tone, "When we're together, don't mention other people. It's bad luck."
