Chapter 102
Ella could tolerate any insult thrown at her.
But insulting Aurora? That was crossing the line.
She glared at Scarlett, and without a second's hesitation, picked up the bowl of breakfast porridge in front of her and dumped the whole thing on Scarlett's head.
Scarlett shrieked, the heat making her jump up immediately as she frantically clawed at the porridge on her head.
Then, her face twisted in pain, she screamed at Ella, "How dare you hurt me, Ella, go to hell."
She grabbed her bowl and was about to throw it at Ella.
Seeing this, Karen rushed over and held her back, "Ms. Lewis, if you do this, Mr. Thomas will be angry."
Really afraid Ella would get hurt, Karen signaled with her eyes for Ella to leave quickly.
Ella didn't leave. She walked around the dining table and slapped Scarlett hard across the face.
She was calm and composed, her expression unchanged, "I'm warning you, if you say one more word about my child, I'll make sure you suffer too."
"Ella, you bitch."
Scarlett gritted her teeth, wanting to hit back, but Karen held her tight and she couldn't muster any strength.
She clawed at Karen's hands, cursing, "Let go of me."
Karen still wouldn't let go.
Ella didn't want to keep fighting with her, so she turned and left.
Only after Ella had gone far away did Karen release her, pretending to comfort her, "Ms. Lewis, calm down. Ms. Garcia just lost her daughter, and sir is very protective of her right now. If you hurt her, Mr. Thomas definitely won't let you off."
Seeing that Ella had left, Scarlett, still in pain and cleaning the porridge from her head, screamed, "What are you standing there for? Call an ambulance."
Only then did Karen slowly go find her phone to make the call.
After being taken to the hospital, Scarlett didn't notify Joshua. Instead, she called Mason first.
Mason rushed to the hospital and saw that Scarlett's hair had been cut, with large red burns on her head and face.
He went over and held her hand, his eyes full of concern, "What happened? How did you get hurt like this?"
Scarlett threw herself into his arms, crying pitifully, "Mason, it was Ella. She poured hot porridge on me. Help me get revenge, make her die miserably, okay?"
She wouldn't let Ella get away with this.
Mason loved her so much, he would definitely kill Ella for her sake soon.
Mason held her in his arms, agreeing obediently, "Okay, I'll go settle the score with her. What did the doctor say? Will it scar?"
Scarlett shook her head, worried about being disfigured, and pleaded with Mason, "Get Samuel to come treat me. If he treats it, there definitely won't be any scars."
Mason agreed.
Then he also notified Joshua.
On his way to the hospital, Joshua called Ella first.
But she didn't answer.
Worried, he called Karen.
After learning what had happened, Joshua turned the car around and didn't go to the hospital. Instead, he went to find Ella.
He was really worried that Ella might do something foolish or that something bad might happen to her.
At that moment, Ella was already at Zachary's apartment.
She knew Scarlett would definitely complain, and if Joshua couldn't reach her phone, he would absolutely come looking for her.
Finding his way to Zachary's place would only take a matter of minutes.
Holding Dorian in her arms, Ella told Zachary, "When Joshua comes later, help me put on an act."
This time she had hurt Scarlett pretty badly too. Joshua might get angry like last time.
She couldn't have a falling out with Joshua yet, or she wouldn't be able to deal with Scarlett.
Zachary agreed, but was a bit worried, "I'm really worried about you handling this alone. I'm afraid that Scarlett will hurt you. How about I send bodyguards to secretly protect you?"
Ella shook her head and refused, "No need, it'll be hard to explain if they're discovered."
"Just help me keep the recordings I'm sending you safe."
With recordings and evidence, she could send Scarlett to prison.
She would eventually force Scarlett to confess all her crimes, just like last time.
Even if it cost her own life.
"Mom, then you have to be careful. If you need me, I'll be the first one to rush forward."
Dorian pouted as he looked at Ella, pressing closer into her arms.
He was so sad that Aurora was gone.
He absolutely couldn't lose Ella.
Ella lowered her head and nuzzled Dorian, promising him she would definitely take care of herself.
The three of them chatted for a while, then the doorbell rang outside.
Ella knew it was probably Joshua coming to find her.
She put Dorian down, deliberately messed up her hair, and curled up barefoot on the sofa.
Zachary got up to open the door.
It was indeed Joshua, his face full of worry, his voice somewhat urgent, "Is Ella here?"
Zachary grabbed him by the collar, angry, "Joshua, do you know that if I had arrived any later, something would have happened to Ella? Since you took her away, why aren't you taking good care of her?"
Hearing this, Joshua knew Ella was there.
He pushed past Zachary and entered.
He saw Ella huddled on the sofa looking terrified, not even letting Dorian near her.
He strode over.
But Dorian blocked him with his small body, not letting him near Ella, glaring at him and shouting angrily, "You big bad guy, if Mr. Baker and I had arrived any later, mom would have been hit by a car."
"Mom likes you so much, why do you always let mom get hurt?"
Dorian was really angry that when Aurora needed Joshua, he wasn't there.
Dorian kicked him twice in revenge.
Joshua didn't mind.
Seeing Ella looking lost and devastated, he moved past the child and sat down, trying to pull her into his arms, "Ella, are you okay? It's my fault. I shouldn't have left you alone with Scarlett."
He heard Scarlett was badly hurt too.
Seeing Ella like this, he couldn't bear to blame her anymore.
Ella didn't resist and leaned into his arms, crying and murmuring, "Joshua, did my Aurora really deserve to die? Why did Scarlett curse her and tell me to join Aurora soon? I want to go find Aurora, but I don't know which way Aurora went. I'm afraid I won't be able to find her."
Scarlett was the one who had Aurora kidnapped in the first place.
And she hadn't told anyone that she didn't know who the children's father was.
So why did Scarlett know that her Aurora didn't know who her father was?
Could Scarlett have known about her two children all along?
So was that incident four years ago arranged by Scarlett?
Ella suddenly realized—if it wasn't arranged by Scarlett, then who?
But she still didn't understand—after Scarlett drugged her and made her sleep with a man, why didn't she tell everyone about it?
If the Thomas family knew she had slept with a strange man, wouldn't she have even less of a place there?
But Scarlett said nothing. And the reason she said nothing—was she worried about something?
Ella racked her brain thinking.
"It's my fault. I'll never let her near you again."
Joshua held Ella in his arms, telling her, "You rest here for now. I'll go to the hospital to check on Scarlett, and then I'll make her come apologize to you."
Ella nodded through her tears, not trying to keep him.
If she needed him again, calling him back wouldn't be difficult.
After seeing Joshua off, Ella was still thinking about Scarlett's motives.
If four years ago when she was drugged, it was arranged by Scarlett, but after succeeding, Scarlett never revealed it to anyone.
Then thinking about how Aurora always called Joshua daddy when she was alive.
Such a small child didn't want her mother, but only wanted Joshua—could that be because of a blood relationship?
Ella was startled by the realization. Could it be...
Could the man from that night four years ago have been Joshua?
