Chapter 358

Chapter 358

Every time Arthur came over under the pretense of checking on Blake's injuries, he was really just here to see Caroline.

Blake was fuming inside, but Caroline had already spoken up. "Come on, Blake. Mr. Windsor helped you out. Don't give him such a hard time."

"Caroline!"

Blake looked aggrieved. Caroline ruffled his hair. "Be good. Listen."

She knew Blake was just looking out for her, but Arthur hadn't done anything wrong right now. Constantly targeting him wasn't fair.

Blake pouted. Caroline's touch melted away most of his frustration.

Still, he mumbled with a hint of grievance, "I'll do whatever you say."

Watching their interaction, Arthur's lips curved slightly before he spoke. "It's fine. I don't argue with kids."

"You're the kid!" Blake glared at him.

Arthur had treated Caroline so badly before—now he was putting on this righteous act for who, exactly?

He would never agree to Caroline remarrying Arthur!

"Blake." One look from Caroline, and Blake hung his head reluctantly.

"I'll walk you out." Turning back, Caroline politely escorted Arthur to the door.

As she moved to close it, Arthur braced his hand against the doorframe. "Logan and Layla are going on break soon. They want to spend more time here with you. Is that okay?"

Caroline nodded. "Of course. Blake's home too—he can keep them company."

They'd barely finished talking when that very evening, public opinion took another turn.

The internet exploded with exposés about Blake—photos of him smoking when he'd just debuted, accusations of him bullying crew members, claims about his messy private life, and more.

Some of it was true, some false. Mixed together, netizens couldn't tell what was real.

The entertainment company seized the opportunity to smear Blake further, claiming they'd given him excellent benefits, but he'd secretly lined up another company and staged this whole act just to cut ties.

All the mud was being slung at Blake. His reputation plummeted.

Seeing this, Caroline's anger flared. She stepped out of her room to find Blake playing with the kids, making them giggle uncontrollably.

Hearing her footsteps, Blake turned. "What's wrong?"

Caroline shook her head. "Something urgent came up at the company. You keep playing—I need to head over there."

Blake was home entertaining the kids—he probably didn't have time to check his phone. That was for the best.

Those exposés would only ruin his mood. Blake was injured. He needed to rest and recover.

She stepped outside and found Arthur standing by the door. She paused, nodded at him, closed the door behind her, then walked with him to a more private spot.

"You saw what's online?" Arthur asked first.

Caroline nodded. "Yes. I can't let them slander Blake like this."

"They hired internet trolls. The counterattack and the leaks are all premeditated—someone's orchestrating this behind the scenes. This kind of thing requires a professional team. The company's already put together a response plan. They asked me to come approve it. Want to come along?"

"Yes."

Arthur's response was even faster than Caroline had expected. She nodded and went with him.

On the way, Arthur reassured her, telling her not to worry too much.

"So far, the stuff they've released isn't that damaging—minor things. As long as we find the right angle, we can debunk it. Worst case, we pay for other trending topics to bury this one. People will move on."

In the entertainment industry, with enough money and influence, propping someone up or burying a scandal was no big deal.

For the Windsor Group's resources, this was pocket change.

Arthur had never worried about any of this.

His gaze rested on Caroline's face.

Caroline was completely absorbed in the situation and didn't notice Arthur watching her.

When they arrived at the entertainment company, the conference room was already packed with people waiting for them to make decisions.

Blake's agent had been with him since early in his career. He knew Blake's situation inside and out.

Including those so-called exposés—he'd already laid everything bare.

Seeing Caroline walk in, his eyes lit up.

"I've said everything I can. The rest of it—Blake didn't do any of that. I can't admit to things on his behalf." He said this while staring straight at Arthur.

He knew who really called the shots here. As long as Arthur believed him, everything else was secondary.

Arthur nodded. Instead of immediately sitting in the seat they'd prepared for him, he turned and instructed them to bring another chair, gesturing for Caroline to sit first.

Once the chair arrived, he sat down beside her, clearly deferring to her. This stunned many in the room. Who was this woman that even their big boss would yield to her like this?

Caroline didn't have time to think about any of that. The moment she sat down, she spoke. "Have you come up with a solution?"

"Currently, our plan is to debunk all those so-called exposés and release evidence of how that entertainment company has oppressed other artists—turn public opinion around."

"But the company running the troll operation is organized and deliberate. Ideally, we'd contact them directly, pay them a bit more, and get them to stop targeting Blake. Otherwise, this is going to be tough to handle."

Caroline had experienced firsthand just how powerful internet trolls could be. But hearing this, she frowned. It didn't seem likely.

"Did the entertainment company hire those trolls?"

"Yes. That company is pretty well-known in the industry."

They'd already prepared everything and showed Caroline the relevant materials. The more she looked, the more familiar it seemed. Then her eyes widened. "Isn't this EchoSphere Media—the one from the other day?"

She handed the file to Arthur. He looked it over and frowned as well. "If it really is them, negotiating will be difficult."

After the awards ceremony last time, Arthur had already sent them a legal letter. They'd sent people to seek reconciliation, but Arthur had refused. Now that they knew about the relationship between Arthur and Caroline, they probably wouldn't agree to settle easily.

Caroline pressed her lips together. "Then what do we do?"

She looked at Arthur.

"It's okay. That was just one of our strategies. If it won't work, we'll contact other companies—buy exposés on other top celebrities and release them to muddy the waters. As for the entertainment company, we'll collect evidence as quickly as possible to stop them from milking this situation for sympathy." The PR team quickly spoke up, steadying Caroline's emotions.

Caroline took a deep breath. "Thank you all for your hard work."

"This is our job. Nothing to thank us for."

Everyone was polite. Caroline didn't speak again after that, listening as they ran through one possibility after another.
