Chapter 192 For His Wife, He Can Be Shameless
The entire room fell into deathly silence.
"What did you say?"
Nicholas's voice sounded terrifyingly hoarse. It was as if he hadn't heard clearly—or perhaps he simply couldn't believe it. He stubbornly asked again.
Tyler met his shocked gaze and enunciated every word clearly.
"I said you thanked the wrong lifesaver."
"The person who actually jumped into the sea to save you and nearly lost her life was Emma."
Nicholas's pupils shrank sharply. His entire body froze in place.
He looked as if he'd heard some impossible story. Every word struck his ears, yet he couldn't piece them together into something he could understand.
"Impossible."
His voice sounded dry and strained as his Adam's apple bobbed.
"Emma is afraid of water. She won't even go into a swimming pool. How could she possibly jump into the ocean to save me?"
Tyler exhaled the last puff of smoke from his cigarette and crushed it into the ashtray, extinguishing the final spark.
He looked up, his gaze sharp as it locked onto Nicholas's face.
"That's the other truth I'm here to tell you today."
"Four years ago, when Emma saved you, she encountered a shark attack in the water."
"She was unconscious for a long time and nearly became a vegetable. When she woke up, she suffered severe psychological trauma. That's why she fears water. She underwent six months of therapy."
These words exploded like thunder in both Nicholas's and Charlie's minds.
The world seemed to go silent, leaving only the sharp ringing in their ears. Nicholas's thoughts suddenly flashed back to their wedding day in Luminous City.
Emma had been drunk, her cheeks flushed red as she leaned against his ear, mumbling incoherently through the haze of alcohol.
"Nicholas, I know... many of your... secrets. I also have a big... secret... to tell you."
At the time, he had smiled indulgently and asked softly,
"What secret?"
"Do you remember that... big shark? You were about to... be eaten, and I... I pulled you... up."
So that was it.
What she'd said was her own experience.
And he had dismissed it as drunken nonsense, never taking it seriously.
Tyler's voice rang out again, cold and clear, slicing open the truth like a scalpel.
"We interviewed several crew members who were on the boat. They all said that when Matthew finally rescued Emma, her hands were covered in blood and she had already lost consciousness."
"Everyone thought she'd been bitten by the shark, but that wasn't the case."
Tyler paused, weighing each word.
"After she desperately pushed you toward the surface, she used her hairpin to cut herself and used her own blood to lure the shark away."
"To save you, she risked her life."
The chair beside Nicholas crashed to the floor as he knocked it over.
He could no longer stand. All strength seemed to drain from his body.
His heart felt as though an invisible hand were squeezing it, the pain making it difficult to breathe.
So four years ago, he had nearly cost her life.
His defenses collapsed completely.
Finally, Charlie, who had remained silent until now, spoke with difficulty.
"Then... what about Zoe jumping into the sea to save someone?"
Tyler lit another cigarette but didn't smoke it, merely holding it between his fingers.
He looked at Nicholas again before speaking slowly.
"At that time, you had already lost consciousness and your body kept sinking. When Emma dove down to you, you were already about 132 feet below the surface."
"She desperately pulled you upward."
"Just as you were about to reach the surface, when she went to distract the shark, she gave Zoe the chance to pull you back onto the boat."
"What happened afterward was simple—Zoe became your lifesaver."
"I specifically investigated it. Zoe can't dive and couldn't possibly have gone 132 feet underwater."
"Do you know what kind of courage and strength it takes to drag an unconscious adult man up from that depth?"
"I believe Emma was prepared to sacrifice her life at that moment."
"I've already sent the records of her hospitalization and psychological treatment to your email. This is the truth."
Tyler patted Nicholas on the shoulder.
At that moment, the recurring dream in Nicholas's mind suddenly became crystal clear.
Endless darkness.
Ice-cold seawater.
He kept sinking, sinking...
Then a figure desperately swam toward him, breaking through the deep blue darkness.
It had been Emma all along.
The person who had given him life in his moment of despair had always been her.
But he had thanked the wrong person—spoiling Zoe for four years while neglecting Emma during three years of marriage.
His body began trembling uncontrollably.
Shock, wild joy, overwhelming guilt crashed over him like a tidal wave.
He couldn't stay here another second.
He turned and strode out.
He wanted to see her.
Right now, he desperately wanted to see Emma.
---
At the Jackson Mansion, the afternoon sunlight poured warmly onto the balcony.
Evelyn's mouth fell open in shock.
"So you're saying Zoe stole your credit?"
"All these years, she's been using your identity as his lifesaver to gain Nicholas's favor and resources?"
Emma nodded.
Matthew had told her everything that happened at sea that day.
Only then did she understand why Nicholas had repeatedly shown mercy to Zoe, never truly bringing himself to deliver the final blow.
Evelyn stamped her foot angrily.
"How shameless!"
"I've heard of people stealing husbands and boyfriends, but I've never heard of anyone stealing the identity of a lifesaver!"
"She's been enjoying your benefits for so many years. Doesn't she feel even a little guilty?"
Furious, she patted Emma on the shoulder.
"Don't worry, Emma. We'll definitely get revenge!"
"We'll expose her at that recognition banquet in front of everyone—tear off her fake mask publicly. That'll be quite a spectacle!"
Emma lowered her eyes and said softly.
"I also want to go to Empire City to see that patient."
"I think I might find some clues about my identity."
Evelyn wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Alright, I'll go with you."
Just as she finished speaking, a familiar black Rolls-Royce Phantom slowly stopped outside the estate gates.
The car door opened, and Nicholas stepped out with long strides.
He instinctively looked up and immediately spotted Emma and Evelyn on the second-floor balcony.
Emma's gaze darkened instantly. She turned and walked inside without giving him another glance.
She clearly didn't want to see him.
Nicholas stood where he was, pulling out a cigarette case and lighting one.
He took a deep drag, then slowly exhaled a cloud of smoke that blurred his deep-set eyes.
He had so much to say to her.
Countless words were stuck in his throat.
But he knew she was still angry.
Twisting the cigarette between his fingers, he steeled himself and decided to wait until the matter in Empire City was resolved before proposing to her again and explaining everything carefully.
This time, he would spend the rest of his life repaying her kindness.
And for the rest of his life, she would never leave him again.
Soon, another car arrived.
Charlie stepped out holding Robot 001, followed by two bodyguards carrying computers.
Seeing Nicholas, he walked over to greet him.
Then he brazenly headed straight toward the Jackson mansion.
Nicholas watched his retreating figure. Suddenly, he threw away his cigarette, strode forward, grabbed a mouse from one of the bodyguards, and followed behind.
These days, it took shamelessness just to see his wife.
Charlie walked ahead, hearing the footsteps behind him, and couldn't help but smile.
He thought, 'Who would have imagined that one day the famous Mr. Harrison would be trailing behind me like a little brother?'
A servant respectfully led them to the study.
Charlie had the equipment set down and said to Emma,
"Mrs. Harrison, I've logged in all the computer permissions for you. Unit 001 is downstairs playing with Miss Jackson."
Emma nodded softly, "Thank you."
Charlie added, "Mrs. Harrison, if you have any problems, call me anytime."
"Alright."
After receiving her response, Charlie left with the two bodyguards.
Emma opened the computer and was about to start working.
Suddenly, the study door behind her closed.
Then, from behind the heavy curtains, a familiar tall figure stepped out.
Emma froze.
Seeing the handsome face before her, anger flared instantly.
"Mr. Harrison, when did you change careers and become a sneaky thief?"
His eyes burned intensely as he strode forward and pulled her tightly into his arms without warning.
"Emma, I missed you so much."
The familiar cedar scent from his body immediately surrounded her.
Emma struggled to push him away but couldn't move him at all.
"Nicholas, get out! Or I'll call for help!"
His gaze was tender and lingering. Thinking about how she had risked her life jumping into the icy sea to save him, his heart felt as if it were being squeezed by a giant fist.
Regret and pain nearly drowned him.
He stared at her, his voice terribly hoarse.
"Emma, I'm sorry."
"My love came too late and caused you so much suffering."
Emma was stunned.
Then the anger in her heart flared even more fiercer.
"Get out! I don't want to see you right now!"
Nicholas remained gentle, speaking almost pleadingly.
"Emma, I was wrong. Please forgive me."
Emma nearly laughed in anger.
"Nicholas, do you think wounds can be erased so easily? You think—"
Before she could finish, he silenced her with a kiss.
"Mmph..." Emma struggled.
His kiss was fierce and domineering, filled with overwhelming force.
Unable to push him away, she hardened her heart and bit down hard on his lips.
He groaned and finally released her.
A striking red stain appeared on his thin lips.
He raised a finger and casually wiped away the blood.
"You bite now, little rabbit?"
He wasn't angry. His tone even carried indulgent affection.
Emma shouted again, "Nicholas, get out!"
Instead, Nicholas lifted her and placed her on the wide desk.
His hands wrapped tightly around her slender waist, preventing her from slipping.
Then he curved his lips into a smile.
"Remember that time in Luminous City?"
"If you don't forgive me, I'll keep kissing you until you do."
With that, he leaned toward her again.
Emma's heart jumped in alarm as she dodged.
"Nicholas, you're shameless!"
His eyes gleamed with amusement. "For my wife, I can be shameless."
As his words fell, his domineering kiss attacked again, claiming her lips and leaving Emma breathless as her small hands kept pounding against his chest.
Nicholas didn't stop...
Suddenly, the study door burst open.
An electronic voice echoed throughout the room.
"Two heat signatures detected in the study! Enemy intrusion detected! Emma is in danger!"
Nicholas froze mid-action and turned his head, his expression instantly darkening.
Unit 001 stood at the door with all the Jackson family members—including that ugly cat.
