Chapter 51 So He Rushed Over to Save Her

Chapter 51 So He Rushed Over to Save Her

"Ms. Rodriguez, how are you feeling? Yesterday when Mr. Harrison saw you injured, he was truly worried sick all night. I've never seen him..."

"Charlie, don't speak well of him. You know better than I do who he really loves. I should be grateful that he saved me last night, but compared to the harm he's caused me..."

Emma took a deep breath, her eyes red-rimmed and frosted over with coldness. Suddenly, she had no strength left to continue.

Her body trembled slightly—whether from last night's terror, the pain from her wounds, or heartache!

Charlie quickly noticed her distress and hurriedly pulled out a tissue to hand her.

"Last night, Miss Jackson went to Stellar Soiree and publicly berated Mr. Harrison. That's when he learned about your miscarriage. He immediately ordered a manhunt for the culprit, determined to get justice for you. Actually, he was heartbroken too. I saw tears in his eyes.

When he saw your car burned to a charred frame, he nearly lost his mind. He insisted you must be somewhere nearby and organized an all-night carpet search through thirty-three villages before we were fortunate enough to rescue you in time!"

Charlie had witnessed everything. Perhaps as an observer, he could see things more clearly.

Emma was stunned for a moment. The hatred in her heart seemed to lighten slightly. Without him, she might truly have died!

But she still couldn't forgive him for personally releasing the enemy who had harmed their child.

"He released Julie because Zoe said the servant had only made a minor mistake, so Mr. Harrison didn't pursue it further."

"He's already sent people to Majestic City to hunt down Julie. She definitely won't escape—Mr. Harrison will never spare anyone who's hurt you!"

Emma said nothing more, her heart still heavy with pain.

Charlie pulled out his tablet and opened a video he'd been wanting to show her but hadn't had the chance.

"Ms. Rodriguez, please watch this video!"

Emma took the tablet and saw the footage from the Harrison Group's anniversary celebration. The camera focused on the towering champagne tower.

The sound of shattering glass seemed to echo in her ears. In the video, the champagne tower collapsed with a thunderous crash, countless sharp glass shards flying with splashing wine as chaos erupted instantly.

She saw it.

While everyone screamed and fled, two figures moved against the crowd, rushing toward her.

One was Nicholas—he was closest.

He stretched out his hand, not to push away, not to dodge, but to extend his hand, blocking in front of her face.

She watched glass shards strike his arm, spraying blood. That blood instantly stained his white suit crimson.

The other was Matthew. Almost immediately behind, moving swiftly, he pulled her into his arms in one motion, shielding her with his body.

The camera shook, then froze on Nicholas's embrace.

Zoe immediately rushed to Nicholas's side, diving into his arms, crying pitifully and drawing everyone's attention.

Those short ten seconds.

Emma's heart felt as if it were being squeezed by an invisible hand. It hurt—a dull, suffocating pain.

So in that moment, he had rushed over to save her!

Nicholas—that man who supposedly had no feelings for her, who in her most dangerous moment had actually reached out to shield her from deadly flying debris!

She stared fixedly at Nicholas's outstretched hand on the screen, that blood-stained image burning into her mind like a brand.

She had always thought he was cold, never caring whether she lived or died, believing his eyes were only for Zoe.

But the video footage completely shattered her self-righteous "truth."

Then what about his later coldness? What about the distance in his eyes? What about his unhesitating choice of Zoe?

"Ms. Rodriguez, you see," Charlie's voice sounded, carrying a hint of careful consideration, "Mr. Harrison has always cared deeply about you, he just doesn't say it out loud."

Emma remained silent, her fingertips gently tracing Nicholas's injured area on the screen.

That blood was real. That pain was real too.

"When he saw you in danger, he was more devastated than anyone," Charlie continued in a low voice.

"You know he was seriously injured then, but he didn't let anyone tell you."

Didn't let anyone tell her? Why?

Emma's mind was in chaos. Why did he know the truth but choose silence, choose to protect Zoe?

"If it weren't for Zoe using her favor as leverage, Mr. Harrison would never help her again."

Charlie's words dropped like a stone into Emma's already turbulent heart.

"Favor? What favor?" Emma finally spoke, her voice hoarse. She looked up at Charlie, her eyes full of confusion and inquiry.

Charlie was considering whether he should say more when the door was knocked twice. He quickly put away the tablet and stood seriously to one side.

The hospital room door reopened, and Nicholas walked to the bedside without speaking.

He bent down, reached out, and directly lifted Emma up, blankets and all.

Emma was caught off guard, her body suddenly airborne, her heart jumping in alarm.

"What are you doing!"

She turned her head to meet Nicholas's stern face.

"Let me go!" She began struggling, and her arm wound was pulled, sending sharp pain through her. She gasped.

But Nicholas carefully avoided her injuries, holding her tightly and giving her no chance to break free. "Don't move, or you'll tear the wound and need stitches again!"

"Nicholas! Let me go! Do you hear me!"

Her voice carried sharp fury.

Nicholas ignored her completely, carrying her in long strides toward the exit.

"I'm taking you somewhere else to recover. This place isn't safe—you certainly have plenty of enemies!"

That was his only explanation.

Emma was stunned. Could it be that the Laurent family had found her?

The Global Medical Summit was next week—they'd already entered the country.

Was yesterday's kidnapper also from the Laurent family?

No, that psychopath couldn't possibly be from the Laurent family. If the Laurent family made a move, it would be at least a squad of mercenaries.

Could it be that Nicholas had discovered her identity as Dr. N?

"Whether it's safe or not is none of your business! Put me down! I don't need your protection."

Emma squirmed in his arms, trying to kick him with her feet.

But her strength was negligible against Nicholas.

The man carried her steadily through the corridor, heading directly for the hospital's rooftop helipad.

Charlie was already waiting there.

Fifteen minutes later.

Nicholas carried Emma up the helicopter's boarding stairs.

He placed her in a seat and leaned down to fasten her safety belt.

Emma was still cursing him, struggling to push him away. Nicholas continued his actions without pause, securing her belt before taking the seat across from her.

The cabin door closed.

The helicopter slowly lifted off, flying toward the western direction of Emerald City.

Soon after, a black Maybach arrived at the hospital entrance.

Matthew stared with dark eyes at the thunderously roaring helicopter in the sky, then punched the car door.

He knew he was too late!

Damn Nicholas!

Emma watched the hospital grow smaller outside the window, her heart sinking bit by bit.

She turned to look at Nicholas across from her.

He was watching her, his face expressionless.

Suddenly, the helicopter tilted right, and Emma jumped in fright, crying out in alarm.

Nicholas had already rushed to her side, reaching out to hold her.

Emma was still shaken when a kiss landed directly on his handsome left cheek.

Nicholas's brow twitched. "Is that a reward?"

Emma's face instantly flushed red. She simply closed her eyes—out of sight, out of mind.

Charlie's eyes flashed. He'd give the pilot a raise and bonus as soon as they returned.
