Chapter 39 Emma, Are You Secretly Smiling?
Emma had no idea what had happened, but Evelyn was practically glowing with excitement.
"Emma, Zoe is definitely finished this time! Even God is helping us!"
"The entire internet now knows she's a homewrecker who destroyed someone else's marriage! Her whole public persona has completely collapsed!"
Emma had just recovered from her fever and was still feeling weak, her mind working slowly.
She looked at Evelyn with complete confusion. "What do you mean?"
"You don't know yet?"
Evelyn leaned in closer, lowering her voice but unable to hide her excitement.
"This morning, Zoe held a fan appreciation event, and then your marriage certificate with Nicholas was exposed right there on stage. Now the whole internet knows she's a mistress!"
Emma's heart lurched. So the entire internet now knew about her secret marriage to Nicholas?
She grabbed Evelyn's phone and opened the web browser.

All kinds of harsh headlines flooded the screen.
No wonder Nicholas had been so furious with her at noon, demanding to know what exactly she was trying to accomplish.
So that was what he was asking about.
She had thought he was referring to the Dreamy Garden fire and had stubbornly admitted to it!
Emma felt the world spinning around her.
Now the plot seemed to be going off track again. Once her marriage to Nicholas was exposed, the upcoming divorce might not go as smoothly as planned.
She looked up with confusion written all over her face. "Do you know who exposed my marriage certificate with Nicholas?"
Her voice carried a barely detectable hoarseness.
"No idea. Looks like someone else wants to see her completely ruined!"
Emma thought to herself that only a handful of people had ever seen her marriage certificate. Who would choose this moment to expose her marriage to Nicholas?
This was undoubtedly dragging her down with Zoe! It seemed like there was some puppet master behind the scenes orchestrating everything.
"Oh, by the way," Evelyn remembered something else, "The police station called me today."
"Julie refuses to say anything."
"I bet she's still hoping Karen will come rescue her." Evelyn curled her lip in disdain.
At the mention of Karen, Emma's expression instantly turned cold, her eyes like ice.
She pulled her lips into a cold smile.
"Then she can stay in there forever, being Karen's scapegoat for life."
She spoke each word deliberately, her voice dripping with bone-deep hatred. "As for Karen, I will never let her get away with it!"
Emma fell silent, but her mind was racing. The Perez family's bankruptcy was inevitable, but Karen had to pay the price.
And who exactly had exposed Emma's marriage certificate? What was their purpose?
"Evelyn, I didn't bring my phone. Could you call Matthew for me so he doesn't worry?"
Emma handed the phone back to her.
"Sure, no problem." Evelyn readily agreed, taking out her own phone.
Just then, the hospital room door opened.
Nicholas walked in.
He still carried the chill from outside, his face grim.
Evelyn immediately put away her phone and tactfully said, "I'll go buy you something to eat."
With that, she quickly slipped out, thoughtfully closing the door behind her.
Only Emma and Nicholas remained in the room.
The air immediately thickened, the pressure so low it was suffocating.
Emma looked up and met his icy gaze. For a moment, she didn't know what to say. The atmosphere was both awkward and heavy.
He walked to the bedside without speaking, his eyes cold. Suddenly he reached out, wanting to feel her forehead.
But Emma instinctively flinched away, not wanting any physical contact with this man.
He spent every day holding Zoe—she found it disgusting!
The pressure in the room was extremely low, both their eyes hiding the ashes of anger.
Nicholas stared at her coldly, just standing there like an ice sculpture, radiating an aura that warned people to stay away.
"Emma, didn't I warn you before not to provoke Zoe? Our relationship has nothing to do with anyone else."
Emma felt relieved. So he was here for revenge on Zoe's behalf. He was convinced that she had deliberately leaked the marriage certificate.
"Mr. Harrison, I heard you have a private investigation team. Why not send them out to properly investigate who actually exposed the marriage certificate? I have a terrible headache right now. If anyone wants this title of Mrs. Harrison, they can take it. I just hope she won't try to gain sympathy to boost her career."
Hearing this, Nicholas's anger flared. "According to you, Zoe might actually be framing you? Ridiculous."
Now Zoe was being universally condemned online, utterly miserable. Who would expose their own scandals, especially a public figure like her?
"With you as her pillar of support, even if this happened several more times, it wouldn't affect her at all. Who knows if there'll be a plot twist later?" she said coldly.
Nicholas had never realized that his wife, who had been docile for three years, was actually such a sharp-tongued shrew. This was her true face!
"Emma, we're all adults. You said before that we should part amicably. I hope you won't pull these underhanded tricks behind the scenes anymore."
He was angry, his tone threatening.
Emma watched him willing to do all this for Zoe's sake, and suddenly felt a wave of sadness.
She suddenly understood that no matter how much desire a man once had for you, it had nothing to do with love.
Her tone became sharp as well. "Mr. Harrison, thank you for bringing me to the hospital. I'll transfer the medical expenses to you."
Wait, she didn't have his Facebook. She had tried to add him many times before, but he never accepted. Later, she stopped trying!
Ironically, now he was constantly trying to add her... karma was real!
If he knew that Dr. N was her, what would his expression be like?
"I'll give the money to Charlie to return to you."
Either way, she didn't want to owe him anything.
Nicholas saw her acting completely indifferent and emanated a terrifying sense of oppression. "Emma, do you think you did nothing wrong?"
Emma was suddenly amused by his anger and shot back, "If you weren't so promiscuous, there wouldn't be such scandalous news, Mr. Harrison."
The stock price crash should serve as a small punishment for him.
Nicholas's cold eyes seemed ready to freeze her on the spot. "Emma, you must be very happy right now, aren't you?"
"Harrison Group has substantial assets; it won't take a day for you to buckle under the pressure, will it, Mr. Harrison?"
Her casual manner drove Nicholas nearly crazy.
"I'm afraid you'll be disappointed!" Nicholas replied quickly and curtly. "Even if it drops for several more months, Harrison Group won't collapse."
His tone carried the confidence of someone in complete control, as if he didn't take this minor turbulence seriously at all.
Emma looked at him and slowly spoke. "In that case, please leave, Mr. Harrison. I need to rest!"
She turned her head away, not wanting to argue with him anymore, because she no longer had any expectations of him.
Nicholas glanced at her, his eyes carrying an unquestionable distance. "I hope you won't interfere with my relationship with Zoe anymore. Consider yourself warned."
His tone was venomous! This woman disappointed him so much!
The main issue was that last night's fire had also affected his attitude!
With such a major incident happening, how could he ignore it? He had to save Zoe.
Just then, the hospital room door was violently pushed open.
Evelyn rushed in holding her phone, her face showing panic and disbelief.
"Emma! Look! Zoe! Zoe is livestreaming!"
She shoved the phone screen in front of Emma. "She looks like she's going to commit suicide!"
