Chapter 313 If You Dare to Come Up, I Dare to Take Off
Chapter 313 If You Dare to Come Up, I Dare to Take Off
Finally, Luke was dragged downstairs by Daryl for a lecture. Before closing the door, Daryl made sure to add two pointed remarks.
"No matter how much Nicholas likes Emma, he's never dared to climb up to our house."
"You need to break this bad habit, or you won't be allowed to see the children anymore."
Luke quickly nodded in agreement, "Yes, Mr. Jackson."
Watching the door slam shut, he finally exhaled, his expression darkening.
He lifted his hand and sent a message: [Evelyn, you set me up?]
Evelyn replied instantly: [Come back up if you dare! My dad's not watching anymore.]
Luke gritted his teeth in frustration: [Come down here, let's talk properly. I promise I won't hit you.]
She replied: [If you have the guts, climb up again. You dare come up, I dare strip.]
Luke stared at the text, easily imagining her smug expression, and couldn't help but curve his lips helplessly.
[Evelyn, well played!]
[Why, thank you!]
The night deepened.
A baby's cry pierced the villa's silence.
Evelyn hadn't actually fallen asleep. She turned over, threw off the covers, and got out of bed.
Going downstairs, she helped the nanny feed the baby and change the diaper. The little one quickly drifted back to sleep.
Yawning, she slowly made her way back upstairs.
She had just reached the second floor when suddenly, a warm, large hand gripped her waist like an iron clamp.
Evelyn's scalp tingled with shock.
Immediately, her mouth was covered tightly, preventing any sound from escaping.
The world spun around her.
She felt herself completing a high-difficulty turn, being carried directly into another room.
With a soft click, the door closed.
She was pressed down onto a soft bed, completely surrounded by a familiar yet dominating masculine scent.
"Mmph."
She struggled symbolically, but her hands and feet were pinned down, unable to move.
His burning breath sprayed against her ear, carrying an enchanting magic.
"I dare come up, you dare strip?"
"Now, time to honor that promise."
As soon as he finished speaking, the large hand covering her mouth moved away, replaced by his even hotter lips.
This kiss carried absolute aggression, giving her no chance to breathe.
After what felt like forever, he finally pulled back slightly.
Evelyn could finally breathe. She lowered her voice, furiously scolding him.
"Luke, you're shameless! You actually ambushed me?"
"Ambush you? This hardly counts." He chuckled lowly, his chest vibrating slightly. "I could carry you away anytime."
Evelyn glared at him. "You're about to get engaged, yet you come here to pester me. Does your fiancée know?"
Luke gently stroked her head. "Aren't there still three days left?"
"Right now, we're both single. As long as you want it, I can give you everything."
This statement successfully infuriated Evelyn. "Get away from me! I don't want anything, and I don't want to see you."
"Evelyn, if you still love me, come to the engagement party..."
"I won't go, I absolutely won't go." Evelyn's face showed complete rejection, her voice carrying a sob. "Luke, I won't crash your wedding."
The room had no lights on, so he couldn't see her expression.
But Luke knew she was already crying. She pushed him away in rejection, turning her head to the side, her body trembling slightly.
"Don't cry, hmm." He lowered his head to kiss her wet face. "Evelyn, don't be sad. You can ask me not to get engaged."
"I would give up everything for you, including Lyra."
Including Lyra!
Evelyn's heart jumped. What did he mean by that?
Had Lyra become a backup?
If he didn't love her, why go through all the trouble of an engagement party that everyone now knew about?
If he did love her, how could he so easily talk about giving her up?
Was marriage and love something he could discard at will, just like when he abandoned her and the children, knowing she was pregnant, yet walking away and having someone report his death...
Thinking of all this, the hatred in her heart deepened.
"Luke, I don't want you anymore." She said calmly, tears rolling down like pearls. "I don't want you!"
"From now on, no matter who you're with, no matter what you do, I will never love you again."
Her tone was resolute.
"Evelyn, can't you really get past that hurdle?" His voice carried a broken quality.
She didn't answer, only sobbed.
Luke lowered his head and kissed her lips, abandoning his usual dominance for sudden gentleness.
After a long while, he finally released her, saying calmly,
"Evelyn, life has many surprises and many accidents."
"Someday, you'll understand my difficulties."
Gradually, Evelyn stopped crying and asked him seriously, "Luke, do you have a first love in your heart?"
"Do you love her very much?"
Luke didn't deny it, answering seriously, "Yes, I love her very much."
"She's an indispensable part of my world. Don't you want to know..."
"Enough." Evelyn interrupted him, her heart already cracking. "Enough, Luke, stop talking."
The tears she had barely stopped began flowing again.
"Can you leave? I don't want to talk anymore."
"Let me kiss you for a while." Luke said, then kissed her lips again.
He kissed while caressing her.
Evelyn didn't resist, instead cooperating unexpectedly.
Soon, he had set her ablaze, burning across her barren landscape.
In the darkness, only their intertwined breathing could be heard...
After it ended, Evelyn pushed him away. "Luke, go. We're finished."
"Never to meet again."
Luke suddenly laughed. So her compliance was her way of giving him one last time.
"Cancel the birthday party, and I won't bother you anymore." He seized the opportunity to make a condition.
"In your dreams." Evelyn showed no weakness. "Why don't you cancel the engagement party?"
"Luke, from now on, let's each live well and not interfere with each other."
With that, she suddenly lifted her head and bit down hard. Luke's sharp intake of breath could be heard.
She took the opportunity to get up and run away.
Clearly, this was another failed negotiation. She would never bow to him.
Evelyn never yielded to force, only to reason.
So his apologies were useless, and his engagement party struck right at her weak spot.
It remained to be seen who could hold out until the end.
...
Meanwhile, Ethan brought the drunk Danny back to the hotel.
As soon as the car stopped, he leaned over and lifted the person entirely, rushing toward his usual top-floor presidential suite.
The driver watched their retreating figures and shuddered again, pressing the gas pedal as the car instantly disappeared without a trace.
Ethan gently placed the person in his arms on the soft bed.
"Thirsty, I want water." Nina mumbled incoherently.
"Okay, water."
Ethan poured a glass of water and gently fed it to her lips. She swallowed twice, then obediently fell asleep.
He stared at her face, really wanting to tear off that damn mask. He missed his Nina so much.
Nina suddenly opened her eyes, staring at his sharply defined handsome face, and softly called, "Ethan."
Ethan caught her wandering little hand, gripping it tightly against his chest.
His voice was low and coaxing.
"Call me honey."
"Honey." She obediently repeated, looking at him seriously for a few seconds, then suddenly broke into a smile. "Two identical Ethans."
"Good girl." He lowered his head to kiss her.
Her little hand circled his neck as Ethan seriously savored the fragrance in her mouth.
Suddenly, he felt emptiness before his eyes.
She had disappeared.
Ethan was scared out of his wits.
"Danny, Danny."
"Nina."
He shouted, searching the entire presidential suite, but found no trace of her.
A sense of terror filled his heart. He was afraid she had disappeared again.
With trembling hands, he picked up his phone and quickly dialed Nicholas's number.
It took a long time for someone to answer, the voice hoarse with a hint of anger, "You better have a legitimate reason for calling me at this hour."
"I need to find Emma. Nina's missing."
Three seconds later, Emma's voice came through, "What happened? How could Nina go missing? Where are you now?"
Ethan tried to steady his voice and explained the whole situation.
"Don't panic. Nina likes cool places. Check the rooftop or the pool."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Ethan was about to head to the rooftop when suddenly the sound of water and something breaking came from the bathroom.
His heart jumped violently. Without thinking, he ran toward the bathroom and pushed open the door.
He saw her entire body sleeping at the bottom of the circular bathtub, water splashing everywhere.
Bath products and aromatherapy lamps were knocked over on the bathtub's edge, and beside them lay a piece of ultra-thin synthetic mask...
Ethan was scared to death and immediately reached into the water to pull her out.
He was afraid she would drown!
The next second, a beautiful and familiar face was exposed before his eyes.
Even though he had already known it was her.
But at this moment, seeing this face so clearly and truly, the shock in his heart was still overwhelming.
"Don't be noisy, I want to sleep." Nina frowned and mumbled.
Ethan gripped the back of her head firmly, forcing her to look at him seriously. "Baby, do you know who I am?"
"Ethan." Her clear big eyes locked directly onto his without any evasion.
"Good girl." Ethan curved his lips, no longer able to restrain himself.
He lowered his head and fiercely kissed her soft red lips.
Water splashed everywhere.
Ethan could no longer hold back.
Finally, he and she completely merged in the warm water...
He possessed her once again.
His movements were very gentle—she was the most precious girl in his life.
...
The next day, when Nina woke up, she found herself wearing a large bathrobe, nestled in Ethan's arms.
He wore a matching bathrobe, his handsome sleeping face extremely alluring.
She was startled awake, her first reaction being to reach for her face.
Thank goodness, the mask was still there...
Ethan was awakened by her movement, slowly opening his eyes, his voice still carrying the laziness of just waking up.
"Why are you awake so early? Are you hungry?"
Nina looked up at him and questioned, "Why are you sleeping in my bed again?"
Ethan looked innocent. "Don't you remember? You got drunk yesterday and threw a tantrum, clinging to me and refusing to let me go."
Nina's face instantly turned bright red. She scratched her little head somewhat embarrassedly.
"Sorry, that drink was so sweet yesterday, I had two extra glasses. I didn't expect it to be so strong that I got drunk."
Ethan put on a stern face and lectured her seriously, "Next time, absolutely no more alcohol. What a troublemaker."
Nina quickly nodded and even raised three fingers to swear.
"I won't drink, I promise, absolutely no more alcohol."
"Good girl." Ethan looked at her with complete adoration, the love in his eyes so thick it was about to overflow.
Urgent doorbell ringing suddenly sounded, startling Nina.
Ethan reached out to hold her, comforting, "It's okay, I'll get the door. You stay in the room, don't come out."
Ethan got up and went to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, Grandma and the butler stood outside.
"Grandma, why are you here?"
Grandma completely ignored him, her face stern as she pushed past him and charged into the room.
When she saw the handsome young man sitting on the bed wearing a white bathrobe.
She nearly fainted from lack of oxygen, her vision darkening. After several seconds, she cried out in anguish, "Oh my God!"
