Chapter 302 Are You Trying to Betray Me?
Chapter 302 Are You Trying to Betray Me?
Before Emma could react, the cold leather belt had already bound her delicate wrists.
"Let me go."
Emma protested, thinking he was just joking around again.
But the force in his hands was unyielding, with no intention of loosening.
"Stop fooling around, let me go."
Nicholas completely ignored her protests.
He rolled over, pinning her beneath him, and pressed her bound hands above her head.
This position left her unable to move.
"Honey, our week-long honeymoon officially sets sail now."
His seductive voice whispered against her ear.
"Let me spoil you properly..."
With that, he lowered his head and bit down on her snow-white, delicate neck.
The force wasn't heavy, but carried an irresistible possessiveness.
He used his teeth to hook open the shoulder strap of her nightgown...
He knew her body best, and soon had her melting like water, yet he deliberately withheld the next step.
"Honey..." Emma called out softly, her eyes unable to hide her desire.
Nicholas remained unmoved, enjoying watching her anxious, losing-control expression.
"Nicholas." Unable to bear it any longer, she kicked at him.
He nimbly caught her snow-white ankle, lowered his head to kiss it... only then did he curve his lips in satisfaction and begin his systematic advance.
Soon, like a predatory beast, he roamed freely in her territory, conquering every inch.
The thrill of being restrained gave her an unprecedented tremor.
The boat was moving, the starry sky was moving, the waves were moving—everything around them was swaying violently.
She felt like she was about to drown...
Nicholas had been planning this honeymoon since Emma returned to the White family last year, and this was just the beginning...
...
The next day.
Dawn had barely broken when a black SUV drove out of Emerald City, heading north toward Imperial City.
The heater was running full blast inside the car.
Ethan gripped the steering wheel, occasionally glancing at Danny in the passenger seat.
She was very quiet.
Wrapped in the cashmere blanket he'd brought, curled up small in the seat with only her face showing.
She kept looking out the window at the rapidly retreating scenery, her eyes vacant and unfocused.
Ethan remembered the cramped, cold little shack in the cemetery where she'd been living before—narrow, freezing, without even a proper bed.
She had been sleeping in a place like that?
The thought made his chest tighten painfully.
This time, he couldn't lose her again.
Absolutely not.
He would give her a home in Imperial City, a place where she could sleep peacefully through the night without fear.
When she was ready to be Nina again, he'd bring her back to Emerald City.
In style.
At the same time, Jackson Group was in complete chaos.
A brand-new delivery truck was parked at the group's entrance, with workers unloading bundle after bundle of gorgeous roses.
All roses, in seven or eight different colors, continuously being carried into the building, with Evelyn's office as their final destination.
Hundreds of rose bouquets had transformed Evelyn's spacious office into a fragrant sea of flowers.
Even the outer office area wasn't spared, the air thick with overwhelming fragrance.
The situation was quickly reported to the chairman's office.
After hearing the report, Daryl said nothing, but a slight smile appeared on his face.
He picked up his phone and leisurely sent his wife a message.
"Someone sent Evelyn several hundred bouquets of flowers. That's quite a gesture."
The reply came almost instantly.
"Who? Find out who sent them quickly."
Daryl replied again.
"If she likes him, she'll bring him home herself. No need to rush."
Indeed, Evelyn didn't like it at all.
When she entered her office and saw the overwhelming display, she was startled at first, then her brow furrowed tightly.
The intense fragrance made her temples throb.
Amy fluttered over like a happy butterfly from among the flowers.
"Evelyn, your admirer is so loaded! I secretly counted—exactly 299 bouquets!"
She added with a wink, "Love you forever!"
Evelyn didn't even lift an eyelid.
"Call housekeeping to clear all these flowers out."
"All of them? That's such a waste!" Amy looked regretful.
"Anyone who wants them can take some," Evelyn's tone was ice-cold. "The rest, just dispose of them."
"Alright." Amy nodded, picking up a beautiful bouquet of white roses to hold, taking a sniff.
Evelyn struggled to squeeze a path through the flower pile to reach her desk.
She took out her phone, swiped across the screen a few times, and removed a familiar number from her blacklist.
Then she made the call.
After a few rings, the other end picked up.
"Luke, I'm begging you, stop doing these utterly boring things."
"What did I do?"
The male voice on the other end carried obvious confusion and sounded somewhat hoarse.
"Stop sending flowers to my office, and quit playing these fake romantic games. You're quite something, sending 299 bouquets."
She pulled at the corner of her mouth in a cold smile.
"You don't naively think that the problems between us can be solved with flowers, do you?"
The other end fell silent for a moment, then came an even colder voice.
"I'm really not that romantic."
"I didn't send the flowers."
Evelyn froze completely.
Her mind buzzed, and she blurted out.
"Wrong number."
With that, she hung up directly.
On the other end, after Luke hung up, his expression instantly darkened.
299 bouquets?
He slammed his hand on the table with such force that everyone in the conference room jumped.
Without saying a word, he stood up, pulled back his chair, and strode out.
Leaving behind a room of executives looking at each other, each thinking some major project had gone terribly wrong.
...
In the quiet private restaurant, the same private room as last time.
Evelyn remembered that last time she got drunk here and was taken home by Luke.
This time, she hadn't touched a drop of alcohol.
Near closing time, Daniel had called, saying he was in Emerald City and wanted to take her to dinner.
During the call, he casually asked if she liked the flowers.
Only then did Evelyn realize that those 299 overwhelming roses had been sent by him.
She thought back to their unpleasant parting in Imperial City last time.
Though she couldn't understand what this gesture meant, she wanted to find an opportunity to make things clear and end it once and for all.
In the private room, the lighting was perfectly soft.
Seven or eight dishes were laid out on the table, all her former favorites.
Red wine sat in a decanter, filling the air with a light fruity fragrance.
But Evelyn hadn't touched any of the food.
She simply looked up at Daniel's handsome face across from her, her tone flat.
"Daniel, don't send flowers to my office anymore."
Daniel smiled faintly, saying gently, "I remember you loved roses. Those three I gave you at graduation, you kept them for so long, couldn't bear to throw them away, said you wanted to press them. Before it was because I had no money, but now..."
His words were cut short.
"Daniel, the past cannot be revisited."
Evelyn's eyes showed no emotion whatsoever.
"I'm no longer who I was then, and you're no longer..."
"I am, I've never changed." This time, Daniel interrupted her.
His tone was firm, each word deliberate and forceful.
"From beginning to end, you've been irreplaceable in my heart."
With that, he pulled out his phone, unlocked it, and pushed a video toward her.
On the screen was his ex-girlfriend, crying pitifully.
"It's been three years, can't I take her place?"
"You like her painting, so I learned. You like her boldness, so I learned that too. What else do I have to do to satisfy you!"
Then a familiar male voice responded—Daniel's.
"I'm sorry, I thought I could forget her. After our reunion, I realized she's rooted so deeply in my heart. I can't deceive myself or you. Let's break up."
"Daniel..."
The video ended abruptly.
Daniel put down his phone, his deep, affectionate eyes locked on her.
"I've already broken up with her. Because I know clearly who I love most in my heart."
"Evelyn, can you give me another chance?"
He leaned forward, reaching to grasp her small hand resting on the table.
But Evelyn jerked her hand back as if burned.
"Daniel, the past is the past. Whether you break up with her or stay together means nothing to me."
She looked at him seriously, her eyes terrifyingly clear.
"I came tonight to make things clear—we're impossible."
"Thank you for the flowers. Don't waste your money anymore."
With that, Evelyn picked up her bag and stood up decisively, ready to leave.
"Is it because of Luke?" Daniel also stood up, his voice filled with unwillingness.
Evelyn stopped, turned back to look at him, and admitted frankly.
"Yes."
"Do you love him? Or do you love the father of your children?" he pressed, utterly unwilling to give up.
Evelyn suddenly smiled.
That smile carried a kind of complete, letting-go relief.
"I love him, and I love the father of my children."
"Just not you."
Daniel's handsome face instantly drained of all color, turning deathly pale, unable to utter a word.
"Goodbye." She turned and walked away, her steps light.
In that moment, she felt more relaxed than ever before.
If during their last meeting her heart still had some ripples, this time it was completely calm.
Evelyn walked out of the restaurant and stood by the roadside, about to call a car when her wrist was suddenly grabbed by a large hand.
The grip was very strong.
Startled, she turned and met a pair of deep eyes.
It was Luke.
"Two days ago you were in my bed, tonight you're having dinner with your ex-lover?"
"Evelyn, are you trying to betray me?"
