Chapter 217
"Emma, why did you choose to be a mistress and wreck someone else's family?"
"I heard your cousin Pearl bullied people at school. What do you think about that?"
"Have you been influenced by your cousin?"
"What are you talking about? Turn off the cameras!" Emma glared at the reporters with fury, "Since you know who I am, turn off the cameras right now. If you dare report what happened today, my uncle won't let you off."
Nora leaned against the doorway, watching Emma act arrogantly.
"You know what this kind of idiot proves?" Savannah also leaned nearby, sneering.
Dealing with someone like Emma was so easy, no need to scheme at all.
"It shows the tragedy of family education. She's been spoiled and indulged at home, thinking her parents and family can fix everything for her. She's a princess at home, so she thinks she's a princess in society too, that everyone else is beneath her." Savannah shook her head mockingly.
Too bad the real world doesn't work that way. If parents don't educate their kids properly, society will do it for them eventually.
"Why did you become a mistress? Your sister bullies classmates, you become a mistress—does your whole family have messed up values?"
Someone stirred things up.
"You've got some nerve. Do you know my sister Aria is about to get engaged to the Smith Group? Aria will be the future boss's wife of the Smith Group, Michael's wife. You dare mess with me? Let's see how you survive in the entertainment industry!" Emma had been dying to get into Michael's entertainment company but never had the chance.
Now that the Clark family and the Smith family were joining through marriage, Emma had been using this connection to boss everyone around on the team, and everyone sucked up to her.
She enjoyed being sucked up to.
"So Aria, who's about to get engaged to the Smith Group, is also your cousin. I wonder if she's ever bullied anyone or been someone's mistress."
Someone turned the spotlight on Aria.
This was something Nora had arranged beforehand.
She didn't want to do this, but Aria had schemed against Michael many times—she wasn't a good person either.
"Bullying? What bullying? With Aria's family background, getting hit by her is their good fortune. Didn't they take millions in compensation from my uncle? They took the money, and now they're bringing up something from ten years ago—they must need money again! Making a big deal out of nothing, bringing it up again for attention!"
"Emma, are you saying bullying is okay?"
"We paid them, so what!" Emma tried to leave but was blocked by the reporters.
Instantly, Emma's comments were attacked by netizens online.
Emma probably never imagined that in just a few hours, she'd top the trending searches for the first time in her life.
Phrases like "Bullying is okay?" "Victims seeking attention?" and "Secondary harm!" instantly dominated the screens.
The Clark family's PR team urgently tried to deny it and suppress the trending topics, but they couldn't contain it.
The Clark family.
"What's going on! Is Emma an idiot?" Aria rarely lost her temper, but seeing the online public opinion, she was going crazy.
"The engagement announcement is this afternoon, and this breaks now. What will the reporters say this afternoon! What can we say!"
Aria was shaking with anger.
"Calm down, you can't get angry, you can't get angry." Her assistant frantically supported Aria.
"Get away! You're all useless, idiots. Suppress this immediately and call Emma! Tell her to shut up!"
Aria was so angry she could kill someone.
With trembling fingers, Aria grabbed her phone. Her first reaction was to calm down the Smith family.
She called Haven, asking him to reassure Nolan and promising to suppress the public opinion before 3 PM.
Next, she called Michael, wanting to explain that she and Emma weren't close.
But Michael wouldn't answer.
"Damn it." Aria's eyes turned red, her whole body shaking as she gripped her phone tightly.
This couldn't happen.
She couldn't lose like this.
She would never give up.
Michael had to be hers.
She'd waited so many years and sacrificed so much—she had to have Michael. If she couldn't have him, she'd destroy him!
Michael better not be ungrateful. She'd been good enough to him.
Obedient and compliant—what more did he want!
"We can't suppress it at all." In the living room, the assistant ran over anxiously, "There's clearly someone behind this."
"Is it Michael?" Aria stumbled out and asked in a deep voice.
"We checked. It shouldn't be Michael. This happened suddenly—Michael probably just found out too, because Starshine Entertainment hasn't made a move yet."
Aria froze. If not Michael, then who wanted to destroy the Clark family? "Besides Michael, who else has this kind of power?"
"We can't find out." The assistant was very anxious.
IF Plaza.
The drama continued to unfold. Emma was trapped in the VIP lounge of the luxury store, surrounded by people, unable to leave, and could only wait for bodyguards and people from the company to pick her up.
Nora went to a corner and answered a call, "Thanks for this."
"Aren't we partners?" On the other end, a man's voice was low, "I'm surprised you're finally making a move."
Nora didn't say anything.
"Looks like you've figured things out." The man spoke again, "Don't worry, the public opinion won't be suppressed, and it will keep growing. Nolan's not an idiot—this afternoon's engagement press conference will definitely fall through."
Nora still didn't speak.
"Nora, I'm not a charity. I'll give you this small favor for free, and I don't need you to repay me yet. But next time you come asking for help, I'll be collecting payment." The man was reminding Nora that since this was a partnership, it went both ways.
"Okay." Nora agreed.
"Very good." The man hung up with a laugh.
After the call ended, Nora walked back to the store absentmindedly.
"Get those reporters out!" The supervisor was still yelling at Savannah, "You're in cahoots with his wife?"
"We just know each other." Savannah picked at her ear.
"Now I get it—how convenient that we caught them in the act. You did this! You told his wife, didn't you!" The supervisor started arguing with Savannah.
"If she's got the guts to be someone's mistress, is she afraid of people knowing?" Savannah wasn't scared of her.
"You're fired!" the supervisor said angrily.
"On what grounds can you fire me? Do you have proof?" Savannah rolled her eyes.
"I'm the supervisor. I have the right to fire you. Besides, do you have any sales? According to the rules, if you don't have sales, get lost." The supervisor pointed at Savannah's chest and scolded her.
"How can you talk to people like that?" Nora ran over and stood in front of Savannah, "The evaluation period isn't over yet."
"It's almost been a month and you still have no sales. You bottom-feeders, your life savings couldn't even buy one bag, right?" The supervisor mocked Nora, "You've been watching the show in our store for so long without buying anything—what gives you the right to speak? If you're so capable, buy a bag and help your friend's sales."
