Chapter 197
"What's going on? Where's the pianist?" A small problem had occurred at the wedding.
For a high-society wedding like this, everything should have been perfectly arranged.
But they had hired a famous pianist, and now there was a slight accident. The pianist had suffered a sudden heart attack and was rushed to the hospital.
"What do we do? Does anyone here know how to play piano? There's no time to find someone now. The couple will be walking through here soon with the flower shower. Without someone playing live, I'm afraid..."
Everyone looked anxious, and the guests were confused too.
The attendees were mostly from business circles, with some from entertainment and modeling circles accompanying influential figures.
But that piano piece was quite difficult. They were afraid of ruining the wedding. After all, playing it smoothly just by reading the sheet music wasn't that easy.
The bride was getting anxious too. A carefully planned part of the ceremony had gone wrong. Playing a recorded piano piece would make her wedding seem less perfect.
"Should I give it a try?" Nora thought the bride seemed nice and asked quietly.
"Can you do it? Don't mess up someone's wedding if you can't." Someone questioned her.
"Who is she anyway? Who brought her?"
"I think it was Michael."
"I heard she's just an assistant. She can play piano?"
Nora didn't say anything. She simply wanted to help the bride.
"I trust you. Give it a try." The bride pulled Nora over to the piano.
Nora just glanced at the sheet music once, then placed her slender, beautiful fingers on the piano and gently pressed the keys.
Feeling that something was wrong with the sound, Nora stood up to check the piano strings.
"The tuning's off. Let me adjust it," Nora said quietly.
"Can she really do this?"
"I think she can't and is making excuses."
Nora ignored their gossip. She knew how to repair pianos because she had learned it while she was in prison.
After adjusting the tuning, Nora sat back down on the chair.
Actually, Nora was grateful to the Adams family. Before knowing her true identity, they had really put effort into training her.
And Nora was a rare genius, not only with exceptional memory but also with a strong talent in the arts.
The piano notes rang clear as her beautiful fingers began dancing across the keys.
Melodious music flowed out.
Over there, Michael, who was talking with someone, froze for a moment and instinctively turned to look at the piano.
Nora sat at the piano, playing elegantly and calmly, her whole being seemingly glowing.
On the other side, Daryl and Zander also stared at Nora in a daze.
She really had so many shining qualities.
Zander teased Daryl, "Who said Michael was shallow, only interested in Nora's face, saying Nora was just a decoration?"
Daryl snorted and said nothing, but his gaze never left Nora.
Indeed, there was something strangely magnetic about Nora that kept drawing the three brothers' attention.
Daryl had to admit, he was definitely interested in Nora now.
"Who is this person? A celebrity from China? I see she came with Michael." Guests were asking around.
"Mommy! That's my mommy!" Milo jumped excitedly, pointing at Nora and saying she was his mother.
The guests were stunned. Milo's mother?
The woman who gave birth to a child for the Fields family and then ran away?
Impressive.
One woman connected to both the Fields family and Michael was clearly not simple.
The wedding ended perfectly. To Nora's piano music, the bride and groom slowly walked toward the altar.
Nora watched the couple with blurred vision, her heart aching terribly.
To say she wasn't envious would be a lie.
What woman doesn't hope to marry the person she loves?
This is the happiest and most beautiful moment in a woman's life.
When the groom kissed the bride, Nora looked away, trying hard not to cry.
In this lifetime, she probably would never have a wedding of her own.
Michael appeared behind Nora at some point and embraced her from behind, "How many more skills do you have that I don't know about?"
Nora smiled, "Nothing. I just happen to know how to play piano."
"Really? I'm finding you're quite a genius." Michael held Nora and wouldn't let go, "You learn so fast. Learn more from Savannah."
Nora's ears turned even redder, and she instinctively retorted, "Why don't you learn?"
The moment she said it, Nora felt her legs go weak with fear. Michael had spoiled her so much that she had actually dared to tell her benefactor what to do.
Michael narrowed his eyes, his voice dangerously saying, "Are you saying I'm not trying hard enough?"
Nora was scared into stuttering, "No, that's not what I meant."
Michael smiled and took Nora's hand to leave.
The wedding ended perfectly. The bride was very grateful to Michael and Nora, and before leaving, gave Nora a super luxurious wedding favor.
Nora was happy—her first time receiving a wedding favor at someone's wedding.
"The bride was so thoughtful." On the way back, Nora couldn't help but open the favor to look. Everything was carefully selected by the bride.
"So what wedding favors would you pick for friends at your wedding?" Michael held Nora's fingers, squeezing them and examining them carefully.
These hands were too slender. The wedding rings would need to be specially designed.
After squeezing Nora's left ring finger for a while, Michael sent the measurements and photos of Nora's finger to a famous jewelry designer.
"These hands are so beautiful," the designer replied in surprise.
"My beloved," Michael replied proudly.
"Leave it to me," the designer sent an OK emoji.
"Give me design drafts within a month. I'll make my selection and need the rings as soon as possible. I'm using them for a proposal," Michael typed back quickly.
He wanted to officially propose to Nora after announcing their relationship.
"Designing for you will take some time. How about you give me two months?" the designer pleaded.
"As soon as possible," Michael replied, then closed the app and tossed the phone to Nora.
Today at the wedding, he had seen longing in Nora's eyes.
He didn't know why, but whatever Nora wanted, he wanted to give her.
Even if she said she wanted the stars from the sky, he would find a way to get them for her.
He must have truly fallen in love with Nora.
Before, Michael didn't understand what it felt like to love someone.
Turns out, loving someone means giving them endless favoritism, trust, wanting to give her the best of everything, and believing she deserves the best of everything in this world.
Nora's first half of life was something he could no longer make up for or participate in, but for the rest of her life, he wanted to protect her always.
Michael knew Nora had suffered a lot, endured many grievances. He wanted to heal her wounds and give her happiness.
As long as Nora would give him that chance.
Actually, Michael was also afraid of the truth from six years ago.
If he was really the one from that night, once Nora found out, she would definitely run away.
