Chapter 178
Leaning against the car door, Clea watched with an ambiguous smile.
Jasper's face had already darkened. This man was shouting at the kindergarten entrance, clearly looking for trouble.
"What are you yelling about?" Jasper walked over and grabbed the man's collar from behind.
The man glanced at Jasper, initially wanting to get angry, but seeing that he was no match for Jasper's build, he shrank back, "I'm Samuel's dad. Where's Nora? She's my woman. She was my girlfriend before she went to prison, and now that she's out, she's avoiding me?"
The man's voice was loud, attracting everyone's attention. The parents picking up their children all took out their phones to record videos, posting them in class groups and on social media.
In an instant, Nora was pushed into the spotlight again.
"What are you talking about?" Jasper was getting angry, wanting to shut the man up, but with so many cameras pointed at them, he couldn't use force directly.
"You want to hit me? I'm Nora's man. I was supporting Nora before she went to prison. Samuel is my son too. Now she's doing well, latched onto Michael, and wants to dump me!" The man pushed Jasper away, shouting.
"Where's Nora? Get Nora out here!"
"If Nora doesn't come see me today, I'm not leaving. Nobody's leaving."
The man came prepared, even bringing a banner.
It said Nora abandoned her husband and child.
Clea watched the scoundrel making a scene with interest, then looked at Jasper, whose face was dark with anger but couldn't do anything about the troublemaker.
Sure enough, honest people are easily bullied by scoundrels.
The Smith Group.
When David came back from outside, he saw Kurt's resignation letter.
He was shocked for a long time, "Mr. Smith, how did Nora pull this off? This is amazing."
"Look at these." Michael opened his emails. The project department people had all submitted resignation letters together. What did this mean?
They were showing Michael their power.
"Has the project department gone crazy?" David was a bit angry, "Mr. Smith, what do we do? If we really fire Kurt, won't the project department's losses be too great?"
"The Smith Group isn't a place where people can come and go as they please." Michael leaned back in his chair, "Did you prepare everything Nora asked you to?"
"I've got the dirt on the ringleaders." David nodded.
"Contact these people privately. If they don't withdraw their resignation letters by tomorrow, fire them all."
Michael's voice was low.
"Mr. Smith, how did Nora actually do this?" David really thought Nora was incredible.
"He doesn't deserve his position, and he's greedy. He thinks I need to flatter him now, that the company can't run normally without him, so he thinks he can control me, using resignation as leverage to make me agree to all his unreasonable demands." Michael sneered.
Men either die from greed or from women.
Kurt was involved in both.
Nora understood human nature too well.
She agreed to whatever benefits Kurt wanted, even unreasonable demands, but used Kurt's mistress to provoke him.
Losing face in front of a woman, that little mistress would definitely be unhappy, and when she made a fuss, Kurt would want to prove himself even more.
Thinking that by threatening to resign, Michael would definitely give in.
"Voluntarily resigning saves so much trouble."
Michael said lightly, the corners of his mouth turning up.
This way, even if Nolan made trouble, it would be useless.
Kurt proposed the resignation himself—what could he do about it?
David gave Michael a thumbs up, "Mr. Smith, Nora has done great work recently. If she hadn't discovered someone hacked into your computer, our losses would have been huge. She deserves a good reward."
Michael raised an eyebrow. Do I need you to tell me that?
"Mr. Smith, give her a bonus!" David, with his low emotional intelligence, kept fighting for Nora's bonus.
"Are you that free?" Michael didn't want to talk to David.
"Mr. Smith, you can't be so stingy. Nora really did great work this time." David kept chattering. When Nora came back, he was still trying hard to show off, "Mr. Smith, I think we should celebrate this. If it's not convenient for you, I'll take Nora out for a nice meal after work."
Nora came back from HR and heard David saying he wanted to take her to dinner, "That's not necessary, is it?"
She still had to go home and make dinner for Mr. Smith.
"Why not? You fought a beautiful battle this time. I have to take you for a good meal. Don't worry about it. If Mr. Smith is being stingy, I'll take out my salary to give you as a bonus." David walked over to Nora, whispering, and patted her shoulder.
Nora looked nervously at Michael and took a step back, keeping her distance from David.
"Nora, what do you want to eat?" David was still showing off.
"It's not necessary." Nora looked carefully at Michael. His face had already become frighteningly dark.
"Why not? We're eating!" David had already taken out his phone to book a restaurant, "I know a really good restaurant. I'll take you there after work."
"Unfortunately, you won't be getting off work." Michael tapped the desk, "You have to work overtime."
"Why?" David asked.
"Because I just approved Kurt's resignation, so tonight, you'll probably have to work late, going to rally the other people in the project department." Michael said casually.
David's mouth twitched. He thought Michael was a demon.
"Okay, then we'll celebrate another day." David still tried to comfort Nora.
Nora took a deep breath and said quietly, "Mr. Smith, tomorrow morning, we can hold a farewell party for Kurt. The more grand, the better."
David looked at Nora in shock and silently gave her a thumbs up, "Crushing someone's spirit—impressive."
Michael smiled, "Very good idea."
A farewell party, grandly sending off Kurt, would also serve as a warning to others—a big gift for James and Luna. He hoped they'd like it.
Some were happy, some worried. David, who had to work overtime, left with a dark face.
"Mr. Smith." Nora was a bit scared, "Will James and Luna do something desperate?"
"Only when a mad dog jumps over the wall and bites people can we kill it in self-defense." Michael said meaningfully.
Nora took a deep breath and nodded, "The next person to get rid of is Isaac."
Michael looked at Nora meaningfully. She was taking such steady steps.
What should he do? The more he looked, the more he liked her.
"Let's go pick up Samuel." Michael turned off his computer and took Nora's hand to leave work.
"But Jasper is picking up Samuel today." Nora was stunned.
"Isn't this a celebration? We'll take Samuel out to eat, then send him back to Jasper's." Michael raised an eyebrow, "Celebrating our perfect teamwork?"
Nora's ears turned red, and she nodded, "Okay."
Although celebrating now was a bit too early—the crisis hadn't been resolved, but had intensified instead.
But Nora was being greedy.
She greedily wanted to spend time alone with Samuel and Michael.
