Chapter 138
Hotel.
Nora woke up groggily, feeling warmth beside her.
Instinctively snuggling toward the warmth, Nora suddenly became fully awake.
As she looked up, she bumped right into Michael's chin.
Michael winced from the impact, his chin turning red.
Nora panicked and instinctively cupped Michael's face. "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry."
Michael looked down at Nora helplessly, their position undeniably intimate.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I don't know how I..." Nora was nearly in tears. She had no idea how she ended up in Michael's arms while sleeping.
"We're legally married now. Didn't we sleep together last night, too?" Michael called out Nora directly, his breath somewhat heated.
In the past, he had never felt such strong impulses toward women, and had once thought his rationality could overcome hormones.
He never expected it would feel like this.
"I..." Nora was frightened and wanted to sit up, but Michael was holding her and she didn't dare move.
Michael had figured it out that it was her last night, not Aria.
He had known all along?
Her eyes reddening, Nora looked at Michael in panic. "Mr. Smith, last night, I didn't mean to."
She was terrified. She didn't know how to explain, whether Michael would misunderstand, whether he would dislike her.
"I heard that after getting a marriage certificate, if a husband doesn't sleep with his wife and doesn't fulfill his duties, that's also a form of domestic violence. It's illegal." Michael very seriously educated Nora.
Nora shrank back. "What?"
"Yes." Michael nodded.
"Then..." Nora bit her lip. Did they have to fulfill marital duties? "Does the prenuptial agreement say that?"
"No." Michael cleared his throat, afraid of scaring Nora by being too hasty. "Get up, we should go."
Nora lowered her eyes, feeling anxious.
Michael was a normal man. He never lacked women around him. If Aria could scheme against him once, twice, there could be a third time.
"Can I..." Nora was afraid Michael would find her worthless and dirty.
Michael looked down at Nora.
Nora's eyes reddened. After a long while, she carefully tugged at Michael's collar. "Can you not look for other women? Whatever they can do, I can do too."
If Michael found her worthless and didn't want her anymore because of this, what would she do?
Whether it was the Clark family, the Adams family, or James and Luna, any of them could easily crush her.
Savannah was right. She had to please Michael.
"I'm not dirty, really not dirty." Nora remembered she had shown Michael her medical report.
Back then, Michael didn't want her.
Thinking of Michael's attitude at that time, Nora panicked even more and quickly waved her hands. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way, I'm sorry."
"What didn't you mean?" Michael smiled, propping himself up to look at Nora.
Nora bit her lip hard. After a long while, she finally spoke. "I showed Mr. Smith my medical report before, but you didn't agree."
Only then did Michael remember that Nora had once actively asked him to touch her?
Frowning, Michael's expression darkened.
He was clearly regretting whether something had been wrong with his brain back then.
"Mr. Smith." Seeing Michael's expression change, Nora started crying, choking as she grabbed Michael's collar and frantically explained. "I really, really am not dirty."
Could he please not listen to what those people said?
Michael took a deep breath, grabbed Nora's chin, and kissed her.
Nora's whole body stiffened as she looked at Michael, forgetting to breathe for a moment.
Michael held Nora in his arms. "Are you planning to suffocate yourself?"
Nora breathed rapidly, trying to dodge in panic.
"How far can you go?" Michael's breathing was also somewhat heated. He didn't even know what he was restraining himself from.
Nora bit her lip hard and, tremblingly, raised her hand to unbutton Michael's shirt.
"I don't force people." Michael held Nora's hand.
Nora anxiously shook her head. "It's not forcing. I just can't control my shaking."
Nora's voice carried a sob as she desperately tried to explain.
She really didn't dislike Michael. It was just that because of her past experiences and depression, her body would act beyond her control when she got emotional.
"I'm willing. I'll work hard to learn." Nora wiped her tears. She didn't know how to please men in that way, but she would learn.
Savannah was coming to Emerald City soon. She said she could teach her.
Thinking of the ways to please men that Savannah had mentioned on the phone, Nora's face burned uncontrollably red.
Michael leaned against the headboard, released Nora's hand, and gestured for her to continue.
Nora kept her head down, her face burning red.
Just as she was about to reach out to unbutton Michael's shirt, David's knock came from outside the door. "Mr. Smith, it's almost time. Please get ready."
Michael's expression was terrible. Damn project bidding, he actually wanted to skip it.
He finally understood why ancient kings were bewitched by women.
Nora, with her reddened eyes, looking so vulnerable, was really...
Taking a deep breath, Michael sat up straight and said in a low voice, "Go to the venue first. We'll continue tonight."
Nora's ears turned completely red. She lowered her head, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into. She had actually taken the initiative to seduce Michael.
Crazy, truly crazy.
What difference was there between her and those other women?
Clutching her fingers tightly, Nora got up and hid in the bathroom, splashing cold water on her face.
She really had gone crazy.
To keep Michael from finding her worthless and to have him protect her when Pearl returned, she was even willing to sell her body.
What would Michael think of her? Would he find her cheap?
What should she do?
Hotel lobby.
David was organizing project materials when he looked up to meet Michael's gloomy face.
Startled, David said softly, "Mr. Smith, didn't you rest well?"
Michael's gaze seemed ready to devour someone.
David's back felt cold as he swallowed.
Nora followed behind Michael with her head down, as if wanting to burrow into the ground, her ears completely red.
What happened?
"David, which position are you more interested in?" Michael couldn't wait to send David away.
David looked awkward. "Mr. Smith, you don't want me anymore?"
Michael sneered. He was already being very restrained.
"Mr. Smith, after we deal with Kurt, let me go to the investment department." David both didn't want to leave Michael and wanted to occupy an important position.
Kurt's position would eventually become vacant, and he would be perfect for it.
Michael had the same plan. He looked back at Nora. "After we return to Emerald City, deal with Kurt as soon as possible."
"Yes, Mr. Smith." Nora nodded, following behind Michael.
She simply thought Michael was urging her to eliminate the hidden threat.
But Michael wanted to get rid of David, this eyesore.
He was too much of an eyesore following them around.
