Chapter 116
Watching Nora and Michael leave, Aria's face turned ugly.
"Ms. Clark..." the secretary spoke softly.
"I'll wait here." Aria put on an innocent smile again. "I'll wait for Michael to finish his meeting, then we'll go have lunch together."
She sat on the sofa and waited the entire morning.
She loved Michael deeply, had loved him since she was very young.
It's just that Michael never looked at her properly.
But Aria had known since childhood that Michael would definitely marry her. No matter what methods she had to use, she would make Michael marry her.
The secretary nodded and left the CEO's office.
Leaning back on the sofa, Aria was lost in thought.
How could she force Nora to leave the company?
"Ambulance! Ambulance!"
Outside the office, Aria heard a commotion.
She got up and walked out, grabbing someone's arm. "What happened?"
"Mr. Smith had an allergic reaction in his respiratory system and passed out!"
Aria's face went pale with fear, and she ran toward the conference room in worry. "Is the meeting over? How could he suddenly have an allergic reaction?"
"I heard the new assistant didn't know Mr. Smith was allergic to peanuts and gave him a peanut milk candy after the meeting."
Aria frowned. That Nora!
Her running steps paused for a moment, and Aria's lips curved up slightly.
After such a huge mistake, could Nora still stay at the company?
"Ms. Clark, don't worry. The ambulance is here, Mr. Smith has been taken to the ambulance." The secretary ran over, telling Aria not to worry.
Aria nodded and spoke meaningfully. "Isaac, how many years have you been with Michael?"
Isaac quickly answered. "This is my second year."
"Michael is very demanding. If you can stay by his side for a second year, he must really trust you. Besides David, you're the one he trusts most." Aria returned to the office. "But this new assistant is too unreliable. She has no qualifications, nothing, and today she sent Michael to the hospital. This should be pretty serious, right?"
Isaac paused, then quickly nodded. "Yes, something like this happening at such an important meeting is definitely a big deal. The board members will strictly hold Nora accountable. She's really in trouble this time. HR must have already strictly mentioned during training that Mr. Smith can't eat peanut products."
This Nora had clearly gotten herself into trouble.
"Everyone in the group chat is discussing it. No one can protect Nora this time. Mr. Nolan Smith also knows about it and is already on his way to the company."
Aria smiled. "That's right. Someone so careless shouldn't be allowed to stay by Michael's side."
Aria's fingers lightly tapped her cheek. "Mr. Nolan Smith is coming?"
"He'll be here soon." The secretary nodded.
"I think Michael's assistant position should be given to a professional. I don't trust anyone else with it, so I might as well do it myself." Aria planned to recommend herself.
"Yes! Ms. Clark, you'll be Mr. Smith's fiancée sooner or later. If you become Mr. Smith's assistant, wouldn't that be even better? You could even grow closer!" Isaac was a smart person and understood Aria's meaning. "When Mr. Nolan Smith arrives, I'll definitely recommend you."
Aria nodded. "When I marry into the Smith family, I'll definitely promote you."
"Ms. Clark, with your word, I can rest easy." Isaac couldn't stop smiling.
Shadow City.
James, who had arrived at Shadow City early with Luna, trying to steal credit, received a call from the company.
"Nora got into trouble. She apparently didn't know Michael was allergic to peanuts and gave him a peanut candy."
James suddenly stood up, frowning. "Nora gave Michael a peanut candy?"
This was huge.
The board members wouldn't let Nora off either.
Rubbing his temples, James's body stiffened. He was actually instinctively worried about Nora.
With a mocking laugh, James felt like he was going crazy.
That day at Jasper's place, watching Nora cut her wrist in front of him without any emotion, he still panicked.
His chest hurt.
In the end, he still couldn't let go of Nora.
Even though she had done so many wrong things.
"Nora actually gave Michael a peanut candy?" Luna walked in from outside, laughing happily. "Gia, you're really something."
"Now the board members will have to fire Nora too."
"Strike while the iron's hot. She already has a criminal record anyway. Insist that HR emphasized all this during training, that Nora deliberately tried to harm Michael. Call the police and send her back in."
Luna sat on the sofa and snorted coldly.
Made James almost go to prison? Then she'd send Nora back in.
"Mom!" James rushed over and snatched Luna's phone. "What are you trying to do?"
Luna was startled by James's action. "What's gotten into you?"
"You deliberately had Gia frame Nora? Gia didn't tell Nora about Michael's peanut allergy?" James felt inexplicably panicked, his heart racing.
If Nora went to prison again, she would die, wouldn't she?
Her suicide attempt that day wasn't fake. Her eyes held a deathly stillness, like a walking corpse without a soul.
"Mom is doing this for you. That Nora dared to scheme against you, making us mother and son the target of everyone's criticism. Sending her to prison is getting off easy." Luna snorted coldly.
If it weren't for the fact that James being taken by the police had become a stain on his record, would they have to come to Shadow City so early to humble themselves, arranging to meet with Lyle from Seaside City for dinner in advance, giving others so much face?
James clenched his fists and turned to leave.
"Where are you going!" Luna looked at James in shock.
What had gotten into him?
"Back to Emerald City." James had to go back.
He could hurt Nora, but he didn't want her to go back to prison.
Actually, five years ago, the moment he testified against Nora for extortion in court, he regretted it.
Nora just stared at him, her eyes full of shock and despair.
James regretted it. He wanted to withdraw the lawsuit, he recanted his testimony, but Nora admitted to it.
She said in a hoarse voice that she was a fraud, that from beginning to end, she had been scamming money.
It was Nora who sent herself to prison.
She spent five years in prison.
During those five years, James tried countless times to visit her, but she refused every time.
He had regrets too.
"James! I've already arranged for you to meet Lyle. If you dare leave today, you're no longer my son!" Luna's face twisted with anger. James wanted to go back to Emerald City now? Was he crazy?
"James!" Luna couldn't believe James didn't even look back.
He was crazy. James had gone crazy again.
For that little tramp Nora, he had gone crazy six years ago too, locking himself in his room without eating or drinking.
If it weren't for Evelyn helping him get through it, Luna would have thought James was going to starve himself to death over a fake!
"Useless thing!" Luna cursed angrily.
For a woman, James had defied her again and again.
This Nora had to be eliminated.
