Chapter 239

Chapter 239

. He
My brother just called. He said they found the nurse from the hospital back then. The nurse said there might have been a mix-up - it was the hospital's negligence. She was afraid of getting implicated, so she's been hiding all these years. There was indeed another family who had a baby girl at the same time: the Clark family, who made their fortune in the seafood market."

Juliet was silent for a moment, looking at Zander. "That girl just now, whose family did she say she was from?"

"I think she said Aria Clark."

"Aria," the assistant reminded from the side.

"Could it be such a coincidence?" Juliet frowned.

"Maybe it's the fate the fortune teller mentioned?" the assistant said quietly.

Zander laughed. "Let's get to the bottom of it first."

He didn't believe in coincidences, only evidence.

Modern medicine is so advanced—just do a paternity test.

Kindergarten.

Parents and children were playing games together, seeing which family could finish all the addition and subtraction problems in the shortest time.

Atticus was shocked. "Kindergartens are this hardcore now?"

Math problems were obviously not his strong suit.

"This is kindergarten—KINDERGARTEN, preschool education—not an olympiad class. This school is unreasonable," Atticus was still complaining.

"If you can't do it, just admit it. These problems are so simple, do they even need thinking?" Michael snorted. "Move aside."

This kindergarten was a gifted program - admission required an exam.

The children here weren't just from wealthy families; they had to be one-in-a-million little geniuses.

Atticus snorted. He was terrible at math - numbers gave him headaches.

"Each family sends two representatives, dad with the child, or mom with the child," the teacher said with a smile.

Michael glanced at Samuel, and father and son understood each other perfectly.

"Can you do math problems?" Milo quietly asked Joseph.

Joseph scratched his head sheepishly. "12345 minus 3456, that's so hard."

Nora beside them smiled and picked up Joseph. "Let Samuel and Michael go win prizes for you."

Joseph nodded happily.

In the whole school, Joseph was probably the only one who got in purely through connections.

"Daddy, I want to go too." Milo reached out for Atticus to take him to participate.

Atticus quickly shook his head. "Math problems? Please spare me."

"Daddy, you're so dumb." Milo sighed.

Seeing Milo a bit disappointed, Nora took his hand. "Should I go with you?"

"Mommy's going with me!" Milo jumped up happily.

The competition officially started. The first round eliminated half the families.

The second round left only three or four families.

The third round, only Michael and Samuel, and Nora and Milo remained.

It was a family competition now.

"Mr. Smith is amazing, he's like a human calculator."

"That kid is pretty impressive too."

The people below had already started praising them.

Atticus snorted. "My son and my girlfriend are amazing too!"

Michael glared at Atticus, got distracted for a moment, and missed the problem.

"8645!" Samuel and Milo shouted the answer simultaneously.

Both kids were little geniuses, neither willing to concede to the other.

Michael saw Nora laughing happily and smiled too. "Let these two little guys compete."

Fourth round, fifth round - the two little ones kept shouting out answers at the same time.

Under the shade of trees, Atticus watching the excitement was stunned.

The two kids were this in sync?

In the end, both Samuel and Milo won first place and got prizes.

Samuel gave his prize to Joseph, who was thrilled.

Milo gave his prize to Nora.

Nora was very happy too.

"Michael, do you think it's possible that Nora really is my son's mother?" Atticus nudged Michael, asking quietly. "The two kids look kind of similar."

"Dream on." Michael told Atticus to wake up. "Kids can randomly claim moms, but you're all grown up - don't, you'll scare Nora."

Atticus snorted. "But they look so similar, should we do a paternity test?"

Michael looked at Milo in Nora's arms competing with Samuel for mom, and surprisingly didn't object.

A test would be a good idea.

"Milo isn't your son? Where did you find Milo?" Michael asked.

"I'll tell you the truth, Milo isn't actually my son." Atticus said quietly. "It's not really a secret. That year, when the Fields family came to Emerald City for a business association dinner, Daryl insisted I come, so I did. But that night, I had a date with a beautiful woman who didn't show up. When I opened the door, someone had left a child there."

Atticus coughed quietly.

The past was hard to look back on.

"At the time I suspected it was a child from one of my ex-girlfriends back home, so I did a paternity test. It turned out the child wasn't mine, but since he had already been sent to me, and he was a little boy with serious congenital heart disease, I couldn't bear to send him to foster care." Atticus said quietly.

Michael laughed coldly and frowned.

Milo and Samuel really did look too similar.

"Let's do a paternity test for Milo and Nora, it's not that much trouble." Atticus looked at Michael.

"Are you trying to use the child to get close to my wife?" Michael warned Atticus.

"Am I that kind of person? When I pursue true love, I believe in mutual affection. I never force anyone." Atticus looked like he was a gentleman.

"I'll look into this." Michael nodded.

He really was suspicious about Milo and Samuel's similarity.

But if Nora had twins back then...

Michael's heart clenched.

And one child was sent away.

Then he—the root of all evil—deserved to die even more.

Michael's house.

With three kids—or more accurately, four, because Atticus was a giant baby! After playing all day, when the parent day activities ended, they even went to an amusement park.

"Come on, little ones, line up." Nora stood at the bathroom door, happily telling the three little ones to line up and wash their hands.

Michael looked with disgust at Atticus who shamelessly insisted on following them home. "Are all you Fields family people this thick-skinned?"

"Do all you Smith family people treat guests like this?" Atticus snorted. "I want fruit."

"Uninvited guests are guests?" Michael warned Atticus. "Fruit's in the fridge, wash it yourself. If you dare make my wife do it, I'll throw you out."

Atticus said disdainfully, "Did you two even get a marriage certificate?"

"Need me to secretly show you?" Michael raised his eyebrows smugly.

"Michael, you're not quite like the rumors say - kind of childish." Atticus, who was childish himself, actually thought Michael was childish.

After all, when Michael showed off his marriage certificate, his face was incredibly smug.

The doorbell rang.

Michael got up to answer it.

It was Marcus.

Marcus brought two big bags of snacks. "Where's Samuel?"

"Handle business first." Michael stopped Marcus and gave him two hair samples. "Three hours, I want results."

Marcus looked at Michael resentfully. "Won't even let me eat a bite?"

"Has your family gone bankrupt?" Michael frowned.

"Fine, this is the kind of person you are, I see right through you." Marcus muttered and turned to leave.

Remembering something, Marcus spoke up. "Michael, doesn't this count as hitting the jackpot for you? Getting a wife and two sons just like that?"

"Get lost, we'll talk when we have the results." Michael felt guilty.

Over there, in the bathroom.

Milo was rubbing his scalp hard.

"Milo, does your scalp hurt?" Nora asked quietly.

"It feels like someone pulled my hair. It hurts." Milo said huffily.

Nora parted Milo's hair to look at his scalp - nothing visible to the naked eye. "It won't hurt after we blow-dry it."

"Mommy, someone pulled my hair that day too." Samuel scratched his hair.

Nora froze. Pulling hair?

She didn't know why, but she suddenly felt inexplicably anxious.
