Chapter 225
Chapter 225
After a moment of silence, Nolan thought he had misheard. "Who?"
"The Fields family, Daryl," the assistant quickly answered.
Nolan's expression changed in an instant. He waved his hand to signal the lawyer to leave first, then gave Michael a warning look.
Michael wasn't completely useless after all.
The Fields family was much more valuable than the Clark family, no matter how you looked at it.
Back then, Nolan had tried every possible way to discuss a marriage alliance with the Fields family, but unfortunately, the Fields family's real daughter still hadn't been found.
For this reason, Nolan had even sent people to investigate, wanting to help the Fields family find their child to curry favor with them.
Unfortunately, they hadn't found her after several years of searching.
And now, the Fields family had actually come to them to discuss a marriage alliance? When the Fields family came to discuss marriage, everyone on the board was shocked. This was the Fields family.
Even though the Smith Group had been developing steadily under Michael's leadership, who wouldn't want to take the Smith Group to the next level?
The Fields family was obviously the best choice.
The Smith family had only two sons. James had already married into the Adams family, which left only Michael.
Although Michael had made his relationship public, that didn't prevent him from breaking up and marrying into the Fields family.
"Michael, stop being stubborn with your father. You have a bright future ahead."
"Exactly, exactly." The board members immediately started flattering him again.
Michael sat in his chair, his body stiffening for a moment, his expression visibly darkening.
He suddenly stood up and left the conference room.
"Mr. Smith?" David thought Michael had arranged this in advance and smiled excitedly at him, "You could have told me you had arranged everything. You scared me to death."
"Get lost," Michael said in a low voice.
So this was what Nora meant by "don't worry."
She would help him?
This was the surprise Nora had for him?
Was this a surprise or a shock? She actually went to Daryl!
"Mr. Smith, where are you going? The Fields family is here. Shouldn't you at least meet them?" David looked confused.
"Meet what?" Michael's face was dark. He tugged at his tie and entered the elevator, shutting David out.
Right now, he only wanted to see Nora.
Michael could see right through someone like Daryl. He would never easily agree to Nora's request. She must have promised him something.
Conference room.
Luna stumbled into a chair. After all the board members left, she went crazy and slammed the table, "The Fields family! The Fields family came out of nowhere!"
Just when they were about to succeed, the Fields family showed up.
"Mom..." James wanted to say something.
"Shut up! This is all your fault. You insisted on marrying that Evelyn. If you hadn't married that sickly girl, the Fields family would be looking for you today!" Luna panicked and started pacing back and forth, "No, we absolutely cannot let Michael be with the Fields family's daughter. If that happens, we'll completely lose. We'll never be able to bring him down."
"Mom, why are you so worried? The Fields family's daughter has been missing for so many years and still hasn't been found. Who knows what the situation is, or if she's even married." James looked disdainful, "I think the Fields family probably just wants their adopted daughter Tessa to marry Michael."
"What's wrong with Tessa? Even though Tessa is adopted, she's deeply loved by Daryl. Who cares if she's adopted or not! What matters is the benefits behind it!" Luna looked at James with disappointment.
"Then compared to Tessa, wouldn't the Fields family's real daughter be more suitable?" James snorted.
Luna suddenly stopped and smiled, "You're right."
"If we find the Fields family's real daughter before Michael does, the Fields family will owe us a favor, and then..." Luna slapped the table, "James, I don't think Evelyn is good enough for you. It's time we figure out how to break off the engagement with the Adams family."
"Mom! What are you saying!" James looked at Luna in shock, "You were the one who made me get engaged to the Adams family's real daughter! Now you want me to break it off."
"Are you stupid! Which is more important, the Adams family or the Fields family? Don't you understand?" Luna looked at James with anger, "You're my son, you have to listen to me! I'm making the decision on this!"
Luna slammed the table and left in her high heels.
She needed to find the Fields family's real daughter as soon as possible.
Chairman's office.
Daryl had left. The conversation between the two had been very pleasant, so much so that Nolan wore a fatherly smile as he saw Daryl off, "If our Michael were half as sensible as you, I'd be at ease."
"You're too kind. I really admire Michael, which is why I want to marry my sister to him."
"Good, good, good. Then it's settled. One year as the deadline. Our two families will work together to find your lost sister as soon as possible." Nolan nodded, "Please give my regards to your mother and tell her to rest assured."
After Daryl's elevator doors closed, Nolan's expression changed instantly, "Where's Michael?"
"Mr. Smith, he left just now. No one could stop him," the assistant said quietly.
Nolan snorted and walked into his office in a good mood.
Compared to the Clark family, Nolan naturally preferred the Fields family, but he also had to find a way to appease the Clark family.
After all, the Clark family still had leverage over him.
"Tell Michael he's been too impulsive lately. Give him a month's leave to properly adjust his attitude and get himself together."
Nolan symbolically gave Michael a punishment.
On the way home, Michael called Nora.
"What's wrong?" Nora's voice was somewhat nervous.
"Where are you?" Michael's voice was low.
"I'm at the kindergarten, picking up Samuel and Milo from school." Nora didn't dare lie.
"Wait there for me." Michael hung up directly.
Kindergarten entrance.
Nora was so scared her fingers went numb. She could tell Michael was angry.
Daryl must have already been to the Smith Group. David had sent a message saying the crisis had been resolved.
Relieved, Nora stood there waiting for Michael.
She didn't know why he was unhappy. Was he angry that she had acted on her own?
"Jasper, why are you here?"
Just ten minutes later, Jasper arrived first.
"Michael sent me. He said he has important business to handle with you tonight and asked me to pick up the kids." Jasper had a gloomy expression, covering his forehead with his hand, looking like he had just escaped with his life, "If you're too busy in the future, just let me pick up the kids. I'm happy to do it."
Nora laughed, "Jasper, why are your ears red?"
Jasper looked away and coughed lightly, "Don't talk nonsense."
"Jasper, you have lipstick on your face and a hickey on your neck." Nora was being honest.
Jasper's face turned completely red, and his voice stuttered, "Don't talk nonsense. Mosquito bites."
Nora looked knowing, "That mosquito has strong vitality, surviving even in the middle of winter."
Jasper covered his forehead with his hand, "Michael's here. You should go."
Nora smiled at Jasper, but her heart was still a bit anxious.
What if it was really like Michael said? How far would Clea and Jasper go?
"Jasper, be happy." Nora waved at Jasper and turned to run off.
Life is already short. The most important thing is to live happily.
In the car, Michael received a document from Marcus.
He opened it and glanced at it, his expression darkening.
Nora and Jasper had no blood relation whatsoever.
This meant Jasper and Nora weren't biological siblings.
Sure enough, Opal had been lying.
