Chapter 161
Nora looked at Michael in shock.
Was he really going to burn all bridges today?
He actually called the police and the media.
Taking a deep breath, Nora tightly gripped Michael's sleeve.
Completely breaking with Nolan wouldn't do him any good in his current situation.
Michael just held Nora's hand in return and smiled at her, "I promised to let you watch the show."
He would never let this go.
"You're crazy, you're really crazy!" Nolan's voice started trembling.
James stood there in a daze, watching the looks exchanged between Michael and Nora, feeling like a knife had been stabbed into his heart.
"You've lost your mind, that bitch has brainwashed you!" Nolan angrily grabbed a vase from the table and threw it at Nora and Michael.
Michael frowned, instinctively protecting Samuel in his arms, turned around to shield Nora, and took all the shards for her.
"Luna, you're suspected of inciting intentional harm. Please come with us for investigation."
"Nolan."
"This is a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding. It's our family matter, we'll handle it ourselves." Luna panicked, looking nervously at Nolan.
This was the most critical time for the vice president selection.
Even though she knew Nolan would find a way to get her out, she wasn't willing to take the risk.
What if something went wrong?
Looking hatefully at Michael, Luna spoke angrily, "Michael, for a woman, you don't even care about your father anymore."
"You're so vicious." Samuel said timidly, hugging Michael tightly with concern, "Dad, they don't want you, but I'll protect you from now on."
Michael felt a lump in his throat, his eyes burning slightly.
He smiled and patted Samuel's head, responding with a sound of acknowledgment.
"Mr. Michael Smith, is it true that Mrs. Smith allegedly poisoned you?"
"Mr. Michael Smith, was the cleaning staff who poisoned you at Shadow City Hotel instructed by Mrs. Smith?"
"Mr. Nolan Smith, what's your take on this?"
"Your current wife harmed your ex-wife's son, what do you think about that?"
Outside the iron gate, there were reporters everywhere.
The butler and servants frantically closed the gate, barely able to hold those people back.
"Mr. Smith, please come out and explain."
The reporters outside were in chaos.
The police indicated for Luna to go with them.
"There's a misunderstanding. In front of so many reporters, I can't just leave with you." Luna refused, "If there's anything, contact my lawyer."
"Mrs. Smith, don't obstruct our official duties." The police officer frowned.
"What's your badge number!" Luna shrieked out of control.
"Don't obstruct official duties! Now you know about losing face in front of reporters. You have weak legal awareness, extremely vicious behavior, and act without thinking of consequences." The officer said angrily, indicating for Luna to go with him.
Nolan was so angry he could barely stand, raising his trembling hand to point at Michael, unable to say a single word.
"Don't touch my mom." James angrily tried to protect Luna.
"Obstructing official duties, we'll take you too." The police officer's voice was low.
"James! Step aside." Nolan spoke up, letting the police take Luna away.
Luna didn't expect her assistant to betray her.
Gritting her teeth, she wasn't worried about any major problems.
Organizing her thoughts, Luna spoke to Michael in front of the reporters, "Michael, I've been wrongly accused. I'll prove my innocence."
"Innocent or not, justice is in people's hearts." Michael looked at the reporters outside and spoke again, "I hope this experience will teach you a good lesson."
The reporters were all taking photos and videos, watching this battle between wealthy families.
This was truly a war without gunfire, incredibly lively.
Everyone knew that once this news got out, it would definitely be front-page headlines, and the buzz could stay at the top of the charts for half a month without dying down.
"Get out! All of you get out!" Nolan was still smashing things in the living room.
Michael's lips curved up. He put Samuel in Nora's arms, took off his jacket and covered Nora and Samuel's heads with it, "Did you enjoy the show? Going home for dinner?"
Nora looked at Michael with reddened eyes, "What do you want to eat?"
"Whatever you make, I'll eat." Michael said quietly.
Nora lowered her head, her eyes moist, "Let's go."
"Nora..." Mason chased after them, wanting to talk to Nora.
Clearly, he wasn't willing to give up.
Looking at Michael, he didn't know if he was acting.
He didn't know if Michael was really together with Nora, or deliberately bringing Nora to upset James and Luna.
Nora didn't look back and got into Michael's car.
David drove them away, with reporters chasing the car for a long time.
"PR, handle this. Don't let the buzz die down." Michael's voice was low.
David's palms were sweating, hesitating to speak.
He was very worried now.
Breaking completely with the Smith family at this time was clearly not the best timing.
Instead, it was giving Luna an opportunity.
Once Nolan decided to join forces with Luna against Michael, Michael's situation would become even more passive.
Nora obviously understood this too, knowing that Michael's path ahead would be more difficult.
She just didn't understand why Michael, who always played it safe, would...
Was it for her?
How could that be possible?
"Mr. Smith." Nora said quietly.
"For the next two weeks, Luna and Nolan will both lay low. There's only two weeks. Before Luna recovers, can you get rid of Kurt, this trump card?" Michael looked at Nora.
Nora took a deep breath, "Yes."
Michael raised an eyebrow, "Good."
"Nora, don't make promises you can't keep. Two weeks, you..." David was worried about Nora, afraid she couldn't do it and would be discouraged.
"I can do it." Nora answered very seriously, "This time, Mr. Smith has completely broken with the Smith family. James definitely won't hide anymore either. If I'm not wrong, he'll come back to the company openly tomorrow and compete head-on with Mr. Smith! With Luna gone, someone with James's personality, if you provoke him a little, will definitely make mistakes."
Nora bit her lip and spoke again, "Same with Kurt."
"Are you sure you understand James that well?" David asked.
"I've known James since I was a teenager. I understand him very well." Nora nodded.
Michael's face darkened, and he kicked the driver's seat, "Just drive your car!"
David drove nervously, his palms still sweating.
This time, whether they could successfully get rid of Kurt was too critical.
James would definitely make a scene at the company tomorrow.
"Nora, Kurt is a crucial card, not a game." Before getting out of the car, David warned repeatedly, "Kurt is a cunning person. It's impossible to find mistakes and fire him."
"I'll do my best." Nora just kept saying she could do it.
Michael had helped her, so she would definitely help Michael.
Even if it was very difficult, she would give it her all.
"You can go now." Michael warned David, carrying Samuel home.
David felt helpless. Why was he always the one getting scolded? He was scared too.
Look at what Michael had been doing lately, pushing himself to the edge.
He was starting to think maybe Nora had brainwashed Michael.
