Chapter 157
"Mr. Smith, your meals are all prepared according to standard and sent up to you. Why did you come down yourself?" David muttered quietly.
Making it so uncomfortable for him and Nora to have a meal.
"From now on, Nora will eat with me. Work's been busy lately, I need someone by my side," Michael said in a low voice.
David took a deep breath. The ship of friendship capsizes just like that. "Mr. Smith, let me! I'll eat with you."
The chefs who cooked for Michael were all from Michelin-starred restaurants. That's not something ordinary people get to eat.
"Go to the bathroom," Michael told David to go to the bathroom.
"What for?" David was confused.
"Look in the mirror."
Nora almost choked.
She lowered her head to eat her rice, trying not to laugh.
David ate his meal with a hurt expression.
---
The club.
"Mr. Wood, our two families are connected by marriage, acknowledged at a press conference. Whether you and Pearl have an emotional foundation or not, you're her fiancé, her future husband. You should protect her," Aria came to see Walter.
"As for Samuel, whether this child belongs to the Wood family or not, you and Pearl will definitely have your own children in the future."
Walter leaned back on the sofa, looking at Aria, "You came today planning to have me talk to Michael again?"
"This is what you should do," Aria looked at Walter.
Walter looked at Aria meaningfully, "You seem a bit unclear about the situation."
Aria frowned.
"The son is blood-related to me, Pearl is just a fiancée," Walter reminded Aria that if Pearl had no value to him, he wouldn't hesitate at all.
"Mr. Wood, the Clark family and the Wood family are old family friends. You can't just ignore this," Aria took a deep breath. "This time, we the Clark family are asking you to step in."
Aria finally dropped her proud attitude.
She had come to ask Walter for help in the first place.
"Then can you have a good chat with me about your relationship with Michael?" Walter sat up straight, looking at Aria with deep eyes.
"As far as I know, six years ago, you appeared in Michael's room, but Michael didn't seem to return to his room."
Walter spoke meaningfully.
These past few days in Emerald City, he'd been having people investigate what happened six years ago.
What he wanted to find out was who exactly left Nora's room six years ago.
In other words, Samuel's biological father.
He had to find out who Samuel's biological father was before Samuel's parentage was exposed.
Only then could he plan ahead.
"You investigated me?" Aria's fingers instantly clenched.
"I don't have that much patience to talk with you about this," Walter reminded Aria.
Aria knew Walter's capabilities and was silent for a long time, "Yes, he didn't return to his room, but Michael doesn't know that. He thought he went back to his room, so he's always thought the person from six years ago was me."
Aria knew she couldn't hide it from Walter.
But Walter definitely wouldn't expose her.
Because she still had value.
"Whose room did Michael enter?" Walter frowned, his voice low.
He was now afraid that the person who entered Nora's room back then was Michael.
"Not sure," Aria shook her head. "I had people investigate too. That night, on the same floor, the only woman who checked in was that actress Tessa, but Tessa and Michael don't seem to have that kind of relationship. If it was Tessa, she couldn't possibly hide it from Michael."
Walter had naturally found that out too.
"Is it possible Michael went to another floor?" That night, Michael had been set up, drugged, so going to the wrong floor and entering the wrong room was entirely possible.
"Too much time has passed, can't investigate again," Aria shook her head.
"If we can't find out, Michael definitely can't either. As long as he can't find out, and I insist it was me, he has no defense, unless that woman comes forward herself to deny it, or unless that woman got pregnant with Michael's child from that one time," Aria spoke again.
Otherwise, it could only be her.
Michael would owe her for the rest of his life.
"It's been six years. If that woman had that kind of scheming, she would have come forward to clarify long ago. I'm guessing the woman who actually had something happen with Michael doesn't even know the other party was Michael," Aria looked at Walter.
Walter's expression grew increasingly grim.
Right now, what he feared most was that Michael had entered Nora's room.
There aren't that many coincidences in this world.
Rubbing his temples, Walter spoke in a low voice, "If you want to get Michael, I advise you to do it quickly. Without hurting Nora and the child, make her leave Michael."
Before complications arise.
"You mean..." Aria was smart and instantly understood Walter's meaning.
She gasped, "You're saying Samuel might be Michael's child?"
"Samuel is my son," Walter said in a low voice.
Aria frowned and said nothing more.
"Pearl went too far this time, not even sparing the child. Seems her time at the police station didn't teach her a lesson. If Michael is determined to deal with her, no one can help her. If you the Clark family still want to protect yourselves, I advise you to cut off the tail to survive."
Walter warned in a low voice and got up to leave.
Aria gasped. She knew Walter was telling the Clark family to give up on Pearl.
As long as the Clark family publicly exposed Pearl's various misdeeds and sent her abroad, Walter would definitely take the opportunity to break off the engagement.
But if they didn't do this, once Michael exposed these things, it would be a devastating blow to the Clark family, and Walter would still break off the engagement with Pearl.
By then, even the Clark family and she would be implicated.
If the Clark family was destroyed, it would truly be destroyed.
Cut off the tail to survive.
That was the only option.
Pearl, that idiot.
Even though Pearl was her own sister, she couldn't care about that now.
Every man for himself.
Sitting on the sofa in silence for a long time, Aria's fingers somewhat cold as she dialed Pearl's number, "Can you get Walter's hair?"
"Aria, he won't even see me," Pearl was anxious. "What do I do, what do I do?"
"I'll figure this out. You buy a ticket to Novaria now and leave tomorrow," Aria told Pearl to leave Emerald City.
"Aria!" Pearl refused to go.
"Do you want to destroy the Clark family, or do you want to hide abroad for a few years first?" Aria reminded Pearl.
"Why should I?" Pearl was unwilling.
"Because he's Michael!" Aria's anger was strong.
Pearl was scared and said nothing more.
Who was Michael? How many people who offended him came to a good end?
If Michael really wanted to move against the Clark family, the Clark family was no match at all.
"Aria, save me. I don't want to break off the engagement with Walter," Pearl cried.
"Now you know to beg for mercy. Not a bit of sense," Aria rubbed her temples. "Walter is definitely going to break off the engagement with you, but go abroad and hide for a while. After Michael gets tired of Nora and this matter dies down, you can come back. At least you can preserve the Clark family."
Pearl cried on the other end of the phone.
Aria found it annoying and hung up directly.
With trembling fingers, she took out a cigarette, lit it for herself, her heart panicking badly.
Walter's words today clearly had hidden meanings.
It seemed she not only needed to have Samuel and Walter do a paternity test, but also use Samuel's hair to do a paternity test with Michael.
