Chapter 148
"Walter!"
Outside the door, Walter walked in with his assistant. As soon as he entered, he saw Pearl rushing toward him in a disheveled state.
Frowning, Walter instinctively dodged Pearl.
"Walter, they bullied me." Pearl cried and grabbed Walter's arm, "She hit me. She knew I'm your fiancée, and she still hit me."
Pearl pointed at Clea, who was leaning against Jasper, looking like she was tattling.
Clea sat up straight and smiled at Walter, "Lost the fight, so now you're calling your boyfriend for backup?"
Walter didn't look at Clea. His eyes fell on Nora.
Instinctively shaking off Pearl's hand, Walter stepped forward, "Why are you at the hospital?"
Nora lowered her head and said nothing.
Grabbing Nora's wrist, Walter looked her up and down. Only after confirming she wasn't hurt did he breathe a sigh of relief.
Pearl had returned to Emerald City, and Walter thought Nora would be in Shadow City tonight, so he'd let his guard down.
Given Pearl's personality, she would definitely cause trouble for Nora.
"Did she hurt you?" Walter asked in a low voice when Nora didn't respond.
"Samuel, they hurt Samuel." Nora instinctively pulled away from Walter and hid behind Michael.
Michael's expression was dark as he looked at Walter with hostility.
He didn't care much about idiots like James, but Walter was different.
He still had to be wary of Walter.
Walter was his equal in business, had the upper hand when it came to Nora, and the fact that Samuel was blood-related to him made Michael jealous enough to want to kill someone.
Only then did Walter notice that Michael was holding Samuel.
"Samuel." Walter reached out to take Samuel.
"My son is asleep." Michael warned Walter.
Walter frowned, his expression darkening. Was Michael's childish behavior now escalating to fighting him for his son?
"Walter!" Pearl's eyes turned red with anger as she stamped her foot, "I'm your fiancée."
Aria's eyes were also cold.
The men both sisters wanted only had eyes for Nora.
They had to get rid of her.
But now wasn't the time.
Michael was currently at odds with Nolan.
She couldn't confront Michael head-on at this moment. She had to go along with Michael's thinking, find ways to help him, and win his favor first.
"Pearl, stop it. This is your fault. You bullied Nori in Silverlight City, and she already showed you mercy. After you got out, instead of learning your lesson, you continued to hurt her and even injured the child." Aria said with red eyes, scolding Pearl.
"Aria." Pearl didn't dare provoke Aria. In the Clark family, everyone was afraid of Aria.
Because she would threaten suicide.
"Walter, Michael has been bewitched by this slut somehow. He insists on going against the Wood family and the Clark family, and wants to ruin Pearl's reputation, making the Wood family lose face too." Eloise quickly stepped forward, asking Walter to stand up for the Clark family.
The Clark family and the Wood family were business partners now. Even if Walter didn't do it for himself, he should do it for Noah.
"Walter's here too. Michael, for Walter's sake, let Pearl apologize to Nori and issue a public apology statement. What do you think?" Aria stepped forward, her voice choked with emotion as she looked at Michael.
"An apology statement? What I want is for Pearl to admit all her crimes and then get out of Emerald City." Michael's attitude was firm.
He had to make Pearl leave Emerald City and never appear before him again.
"Michael, whatever happens with Pearl should be for me to handle. Aren't you overstepping a bit?" Walter looked at Michael with a dark expression.
Clearly, he was going to oppose Michael.
"Samuel is a child of the Wood family and has Wood family blood. Since he can't be properly protected in Emerald City, I have the right to take him back to Silverlight City." Walter said in a deep voice.
Nora looked up at Walter in panic, her voice hoarse, "Samuel is mine. You promised you wouldn't take Samuel away from me."
"Have you protected him well? All you do is run around with Michael. Samuel needs someone with him now. If you can't take care of him properly, you should give him to me." Walter was angry.
The way Nora instinctively hid behind Michael.
Nora now seemed to rely heavily on Michael.
In Walter's eyes, Michael was no good guy. Men understand men best.
Nora was just foolish to choose Michael over him.
At least his feelings for Nora were real. What did Michael have?
All he had was manipulation!
"Walter, we'll take good care of Samuel. You can't take Samuel away." Jasper was also getting anxious.
"You'll take care of him? Taking the child to the hospital is the result of your care?" Walter frowned.
Clea narrowed her eyes. A woman's sixth sense told her this relationship was pretty messy.
Nora and Walter had Samuel together?
Pearl was impressive.
Getting the two top wolves of the domestic business world to go head-to-head.
Her skills must be more than just that pretty face, right?
"John, I'll pay. Go book an eye doctor appointment for Mr. Wood." Clea tugged at John, who was watching the drama, telling him to make an appointment.
"That's not my department. I'm on emergency duty today." John said flatly, "Besides, the doctors are off work now. You'll have to wait until tomorrow."
Walter turned back with a dark expression and glanced at Clea.
He knew Clea. He'd met her at a Stevens family business gala in Novaria a few years ago.
This Clea was quite legendary and clearly not someone to mess with.
"Walter, your girlfriend brought people to hurt my boyfriend and our child. Instead of blaming your girlfriend first, you want to take the child away. What's your real intention?" Clea didn't indulge Walter and called out his true purpose directly.
Clearly, he just wanted to use the child to control Nora.
"My family affairs aren't for Mrs. Stevens to manage, are they?" Walter deliberately called her that, reminding her of her late husband.
Clea was angered by Walter and stood up to argue.
Jasper quickly grabbed Clea. They really couldn't mess with Walter.
"Nori, Mr. Smith, thank you for taking care of Samuel. I'll take my boss back first. She's tired." Jasper pulled Clea toward the exit.
"Why are you pulling me? I'm going to get involved in this today whether you like it or not! What are you going to do about it?" Clea rolled up her sleeves.
Jasper took a sharp breath, hoisted Clea up, and carried her out.
"Walter, you can actually fall for a woman like Pearl? Are you blind?" In the hallway, Clea was still cursing.
Walter rubbed his temples and turned back to look at Nora, "Come back with me with Samuel."
"No." Nora hid behind Michael in fear.
She didn't want to go with Walter.
"Nora, don't make me say it twice." Walter's patience was limited.
"Can't Mr. Wood understand plain English? Not only do you need to get your eyes checked, but now your ears and throat need treatment too?" Michael patted Samuel soothingly, frowning as he warned Walter to lower his voice and not scare Samuel.
Walter took a deep breath. All that anger was suppressed when Samuel whimpered.
For the child's sake, he held back.
"Michael, I'm Samuel's father. Give him to me." Walter demanded, "I remember Mr. Smith seems very interested in the mining project in Silverlight City's development zone."
Walter turned back and smiled at Nolan, "Mr. Smith, my grandfather said this project can't be monopolized by the Wood family alone. He very much hopes to cooperate with the Smith family, but it depends on the Smith family's sincerity."
