Chapter Fourteen.
AMELIA.
"You don't have any other choice. I asked for what I asked, and it's Dylan I want. You have just one week to bring him here. I don't know how you want to do it, and I don't care how you both get here. But if Dylan is not here in a week, be ready for your secrets to be revealed."
Her words kept coming on and off in my head. It's been two days since the witch threatened me.
I've been a ghost of myself ever since then; I can't even recognize myself anymore. I've been going to school, but I've not been going. Cause my mind was always on what the witch said, I've also not been able to look Dylan in the face ever since this incident. It was like I did something really wrong to him when in reality, he was the one who did something bad to me.
In all honesty, if I knew that the witch wanted something like this from me, I would have told her not to worry. I would have said to her that I was fine with the way that I looked.
Now, I was burdened with the thought that my life would be a living hell if I didn't offer Dylan to her. There was no way in hell that I was going to do that; I would just wait here and expect the living hell that she wanted to put my life through.
I was left with a choice to make. Should I make the most out of the five days I have left? Or should I be miserable all through? I've been asking myself this question since yesterday, and I still couldn't give myself a satisfactory answer.
"Hey." I was startled by the sound of the voice, and I looked up to see Ava.
I couldn't help the smile that appeared on my face. She's such a ray of sunshine. She has been the only one who cared about me since I came back to school from that terrifying meeting with the witch.
She knew something was up with me, but who was I going to tell that I was dealing with a witch problem?
"Hey Ava. How're you?" I greeted her, and she beamed at me.
"I'm good. I've been trying to do some homework from Mrs Williams's class. I don't know, is she the one that is just very complicated, or am I just dumb?" She asked me, and I could not help but laugh.
"Come on, her classes are not that hard," I said, defending Mrs Williams because I like her and also because her classes are actually simple.
"I've heard that you're a genius around here. So when a genius tells me something is simple, I know for sure that it is extra hard." She said, and I just laughed.
"Come on, let's go to the cafeteria," I said, laughing as we both left my locker and walked to the cafeteria.
We talked about different things on our way to the cafeteria, and I just laughed. Ava was such a sweet girl and a darling. She was the only light that had been in my life for the past few days, and I really really appreciated her presence. I might have fallen into depression if it wasn't for her.
I thought as I laughed.
When we were finally settled in the cafeteria, she started eating like she hadn't eaten in days again.
"Why do you eat that way?" I asked her, genuinely curious.
"Oh, I love good food. And this school has the best cafeteria ever." She said with a mouth filled with food.
"Your previous school didn't have a good cafeteria?" I asked her, and she shook her head.
"It was basically whack and nonsense. Imagine them serving us spread and some other nonsense that I can't even remember. I love food, and I love love, good food. Food basically makes me horny." She said, and I laughed.
"What?" I asked with a laugh, and she shrugged.
"That's just how it is." She said. I shook my head in wonder as I started eating my food.
"What's with you and that guy?" She asked.
I frowned at her, confused about what she meant.
"Which guy?" I asked her.
"I mean the one that looks like a Greek God and has been staring at you ever since we sat down here." She said, and I had a feeling about who she was talking about.
After she said he was looking at me, I could basically feel the prick of his gaze on my neck, and I sighed.
I didn't want to look back now; he would know that I was talking about him.
"That's Dylan. He used to be someone I couldn't do without." I told her, and she frowned.
"For real? Is that why he's staring at you like he needs you? I've noticed it; even in class, he's always looking at you." Ava said.
"Yeah, we used to be friends," I told her.
"Friends? I was thinking you guys had a thing."
"Naah, I think if I hadn't found out somethings, then maybe we would be dating right now. But I did, and we stopped talking ever since." I told her, and she nodded.
"I hope I know some of those things soon. Cause I would like to know why he's looking at you with a blank expression and pain in his eyes."
Ava said, and I could only sigh.
He was probably feeling guilty for what he did; there was no way he looked at me the way Ava said he did. I was the one who read his diary and saw all those things that he did.
It hurt me for real, but it was something that I had to let go of at some point in my life. It's like the way I can't control my feelings for him; he also can't control his feelings for Valerie, so I understood perfectly.
