BETRAYAL REVEALED
BETRAYAL REVEALED
Damien's pov
“Those men were innocent all along and Anderson killed them! I should have listened to their pleading".
Anderson killed them mercilessly thinking they were the traitors… or does he know they're innocent? No, if he knew he wouldn't have harmed them, or would he?
He's different from the Anderson I used to know, and the look on the captive's face when he stared at him was suspicious.
The door creaked open as Anderson walked in; speak of the devil.
“Boss, the news just got to me, the captive is…”.
“You've killed him?” I thundered, not letting him finish.
“No, he refused to eat the meal given to him,” Anderson said.
“What's my business with that?” I said, studying him.
“Make him eat,” I finally added.
“Yes, boss,” Anderson answered.
I noticed he was staring toward the way to the weapon room.
“Get the captive here… alive,” I instructed.
I don't trust him with the captive.
“Yes, boss,” Anderson answered as he met my gaze, then turned to leave.
“Alive!” I reminded him as he placed his hand on the doorknob.
“Understood,” he answered, shutting the door behind him.
I'll make sure I question him; he must give me answers, tell me all he knows. I walked to the weapon room and took out a whip.
“I'll use this on him,” I whispered.
I went back to my office, still waiting for them.
Just then the door creaked open as Anderson shoved the captive in.
He looked worse than earlier, brutally battered.
“Why is he looking this way?” I questioned as Anderson threw him to the ground.
“He tried escaping again!” he explained.
I lowered myself to meet his gaze.
“How do you think you can escape without anyone noticing? Are you that dull? You're tied up, man! Or is it because it's no longer tied to a chair?” I fired at him.
“Please spare me! I beg of you, please,” he begged.
“Speak, you? With how you spoke yesterday?” I thundered, looking up at Anderson to dismiss him, but he seemed lost, staring toward the door to the weapon room.
If he's thinking of going in there, he should come out of that dream because he never can. I can't let anyone in there, not even him.
“Anderson!!” I called out.
He jolted and turned back to me.
“What's wrong?” I asked him.
“Nothing, boss. I never noticed that door could lead somewhere; I was surprised seeing you enter there and I'm baffled. What's really in there?” Anderson asked.
Giving him an honest answer would be very dangerous; who knows the reason he asked this? Maybe they told him to find things out.
“It's nothing, just another toilet,” I answered.
“Toilet? But you usually bring out weapons from there?” he shot back.
Is he trying to question my authority?
“You believe whatever I say and nothing else. And for your information, you have no business there. On no account should you be found there, not for anything,” I warned, my voice commanding, leaving no room for further questioning.
“Excuse us, I'll call you when I need to take him back,” I instructed.
“Apologies, boss,” he said before he left.
After he was gone, I opened the door to check if he had truly left and he had. I returned inside after confirming.
“Now, I need you to tell me all you know, else…” I paused as I took the whip from the table.
“I'll hit you hard with this… not once or twice but continuously,” I threatened.
“Please, spare me. I know nothing about Lorenzo, please,” he pleaded.
“You know about Lorenzo's spy. I want you to do just one thing and if you're honest with me, I'll order your immediate release. But if you try to lie, consider yourself dead,” I warned.
“I'll be completely honest with you,” he promised.
“Tell me who Lorenzo's informant is, who gives him news about everything going on here,” I asked him, but he suddenly went silent.
“Speak up now! Or don't you want to leave here alive?” I shot at him.
“Please, spare me. I know I said a lot of silly things yesterday but you shouldn't believe them. You should trust everyone around you,” he said instead.
I clenched my fist and angrily slammed it on my table, which made my glass cup fall and break into pieces.
“You've seen what you've done. I told you earlier to be honest with me but instead you chose to begin lying,” I thundered.
“I'm telling the truth, please pardon me,” he begged.
He's hiding something. And I'll force it out of him.
I hit him hard with the whip with all my might as his skin began bleeding. His body was already weak.
“The truth?” I asked him as I continuously hit him hard.
“I'll speak! I'll tell you!” he said and I stopped hitting him.
“I'm listening. Who exactly is it?” I asked, anticipating his response.
“I honestly don't know,” he wailed.
“You aren't ready to speak up, right? And I'll deal with you,” I said, my voice laced with fury as I hit him carelessly.
“Since you aren't ready! Take this… and this… and this,” I said as I continually hit him.
Blood gushed out as he cried in pain.
“I'll speak!” he said but I didn't stop; he was trying to fool me again.
“I'll tell the truth! I'll tell the truth this time! Please!” he begged.
I stopped and lowered myself, meeting his gaze again.
“If you tell me, I won't harm you,” I promised.
“Of course you might not, but I can't say the same for him,” he answered.
“Say the same for who? Tell me who it is. I promised he won't harm you, I'll make sure you're protected,” I said, my voice sounding firm as I threw the whip on my table.
He stayed quiet for a while before finally speaking up.
“It's… It's Anderson,” he finally said.
I felt my heartbeat stop. Was Anderson the one truly behind it?
