Chapter 82 Mercy For The Evil
Chapter 82 Mercy For The Evil
USHER'S POV
I am sure I was dead, silent and motionless. I was resting so soon, with a heart full of guilt and regret.
I was scared that the heavens would want nothing to do with me considering the long list of my morally wrong acts.
All I wanted was the best man in the world who has got all the things I dreamed of having at his finger tips. If I had Hayden and no twin sister, I would be as white snow.
Life wasn't fair to me. So I became the girl people came to hate. But was it my fault? Should anyone be blamed for trying to survive and fighting for what they loved? It's all that all humans do, right?
My sister impersonated me so she can steal the secret records. Apparently she had her own good reason for doing something so outrageously wrong. We are not at all different. We both did what we had to do to get what we wanted.
I felt so alone in the darkness, so doomed.
Then came the sweet touch of redemption. It felt like someone radiating with life had reached out a hand into the darkness and was pulling me back to the world of the living.
Every part of my dead body craved the life I was being showered with. I could feel my organs coming back to life again.
I took a deep breathe as soon as I could feel my throat heal. I was curious to know where I was so I immediately opened my eyes.
I was instantly disgusted to find myself in my old home, my old pathetic room.
My mother and Anna sit on the edge of the bed, staring down at me. They are not the people I was wishing to meet first after coming back to life.
I wonder what kind of magic the two have used to bring me back.
"Welcome back My Lady!" Anna shrieks. "Would you like a glass of water to drink?"
Water? That's the best welcome back gift they have got?
"Anna helped me bring you back to life. Apart from the two of us, no one else wants to see your face! What you did was very disgraceful!" Mother snaps, the smile she had suddenly disappearing.
Is there a nice place I can go where people will accept me for who I am and I can be happy? It's disheartening to be yelled at the moment you open your eyes.
"How would Anna know how to bring me back from the dead?" I ask out of curiosity. Anna isn't a very intelligent creature, she is the opposite.
"We used the golden feather you had in your room. It healed your wounds." Mother answers.
"How did you know it will heal me?"
"Anna asked the Prophetess." Mother answers again. I see Anna raise her eyebrows but remain silent.
If they are the only ones that brought me back to life, does that mean Hayden doesn't know I am back to life?
I imagine he must be regretting having taken my life by now. He will have already realized how lonely his life will be without me or my sister.
I am back to being the only female angel in the kingdom.
"Did you tell Hayden that you're going to resurret me?"
"No of course. He would cut off your head if he knew you were alive. You killed his mate, remember?" Mother utters angrily.
Yeah, the beautiful golden winged angel Bella is dead and I am alive. I can't resist a laugh.
"Yes, but he will get over it. He will soon be searching for me." I say feeling like a precious gemstone.
"You better hide in here until he and his family are calm enough to not want your head cut off!" Mother warns again.
"I don't want to die again, but this is such an awful place for someone to stay. Can I have this room a little improved?" I ask.
"If you wanted to live in a better place, then you wouldn't have ruined things so bad in the palace!" She berates.
Well, no matter how bad I ruined things, Hayden has no option but to come looking for me. Unless he is ready to live his millennia without a kid or wife.
.
BELLA'S POV
Hayden wanted to prove that he wasn't crazy when he claimed that my life could be saved. He carried me out of the medical room immediately after Mary brought me a dress to change into.
All those that saw me had the weirdest reactions. I think they had already believed I was dead so seeing me again gave them the shock of their lives.
A lot of guests are still around, discussing what they witnessed in the biggest wedding ceremony they have ever attended.
What happened will be a tale told for years. Maybe even the children that are yet to be born will know about it.
Now we are about to make the tale even more interesting. Because I am back to life.
"Someone is going to get a heart attack if we keep going." I tell Hayden.
I just saw one of the servants drop a basket full of clean clothes that she was carrying. She was too astounded to see me.
"Alright, let's go see my father." He says with a smirk.
He just saved my life the second time so I can't start saying no to him so soon.
"I think my feet are strong enough now. You don't have to carry me up the stairs." I tell him.
"I wouldn't mind carrying you up a mountain, you don't weigh much."
"But I don't want to be carried like a kid when people expect me to act like a queen." I protest.
"People will understand. This is our home and we should be free to do whatever we want. Including not act like King or Queen." He argues.
Life isn't going to be so smooth with someone as stubborn as him.
"Bella!" Someone calls from behind.
I look back and see Usher's mother running towards us. Hayden lowers me to the ground before turning.
"I am so glad to see you alive!" My biological mother screams with a smile.
I don't know how to react. So far I haven't seen her bad side.
"What is it you want?" I ask.
She puts on a humble face as she says, "My Lady I came to ask for your forgiveness, on behalf of Usher."
Usher is dead, what's the point of begging for her to be forgiven?
"I didn't raise her well enough, she became way too self-centered. I am so sorry for what happened!" She adds.
"Even if I forgive her, how will it help?" I ask.
The woman stays quiet for a long time. Then she shocks us both by going down to her knees, right in front of us.
"What exactly do you think you're doing?" Hayden asks, irritated.
Usher's mother looks up at him. "Your Majesty, I am searching for a way to save Usher's soul. If she stays dead and doesn't get another chance to right her wrongdoings, Goddess Israel will reject her and she will be doomed forever." She says, giving Hayden that pleading look that she thinks will earn his mercy.
"If you're asking me to bring your daughter back to life, I am sorry because that will never happen." He says despite me thinking that he will feel inclined to help her.
"Sir, I would not ask you for help since what Usher did was horrible. Let the burden of bringing her back be solemnly mine. All I ask is you let her live after that. You have my word that she will be a really good person and will stay away from this palace." She pleads.
What's more amazing than mother's love? When Usher was alive, she didn't care at all about her family. Yet here is her mother, determined to save her from the dead. Question is, how? She got no golden feathers.
"If you think you can bring her back, go ahead. I have forgiven her." I say.
"No!" Hayden objects. "Usher should never be allowed to live among people again. She is a monster."
I see tears gather in the woman's eyes. She looks so heartbroken.
"Hayden, just let herdo what she can. Pleeeease!" I plead on behalf of the woman. I am well aware that she has got no way of bringing Usher back, but who says someone can't hope.
"Alright, go ahead and resurrect her." Hayden agrees, but his voice is full of sarcasm. He too knows she has no way of doing it.
"Thank you so much, your Majesty!" Usher's mother looks elated as she rises to her feet. "I will ask Usher to leave your kingdom so she won't cause any trouble here." She swears with a smile.
Hayden pulls my hand and we start climbing the stairs. "Why would you want Usher back after all she us done to us?" Hayden asks.
"Her mother can't bring her back, you know that."
"Yeah. But you encouraged her anyway." He points.
"My Father once told me that I should never take hope away from someone. It may be all that they have got." I say.
"Hmm! That sounds . . .touching." He smiles.
