Chapter 73 Falling apart

Chapter 73 Falling apart
USHER'S POV

"What do you mean by it's not there?" I snarl, feeling enraged by the way my plan seems to be falling apart.

"The sword is not in that room. I searched well, I swear." Anna looks scared as she speaks in an apologetic tone.

It's not her fault that someone moved the weapon. Missing it now means all hope of marrying Hayden is gone and that's makes my brains want to explode.

I have someone to help me fight my sister. But not the right weapon. What really sucks is that the sword could be in the same room the secret records are. No one can steal it from there without being caught.

The only chance I will have of seeing that sword will be on the day of the wedding. That is the time it will be handed over to Hayden and he will be the new King.

"Are you sure there isn't anything else that can kill your sister other than a golden sword?" Anna asks. I can tell she is sympathising with my predicament.

"How would I know? I have never seen the secret records."

"But you can talk to the Prophetess, she will probably tell you if she doesn't suspect that you want to kill your sister." Anna suggests.

"The Prophetess hates me since she discovered I am not Hayden's real mate. She wouldn't tell me anything." I tell her.

"Then you have no option but to wait until the sword is handed over to Hayden. Maybe then we can steal it."

Hayden and my sister will already be married. If I get rid of her then and still have Hayden golden feather, then I will be living half a millennia even without him knowing.

Problem is if he finds someone else to marry. I will need to still be there so he can consider me first.

BELLA'S POV

Mother has had the hardest time keeping an eye on Skylar today. The kid became too excited by the huge crowd of people that he forgot he wasn't supposed to leave his mother's side.

He wanted to talk to everyone. I envy his confidence and desire to meet people because I was wishing the party would end soon.

I think there isn't a prince or princess he hasn't talked to. He is kind of intrigued by the idea of being a prince or princess. It's understandable because every kid does wish to be a prince or princess.

He also had the chance to meet the Alpha of Silver Moon. The man got so charmed by sweet Skylar that he gave the kid one of his special horses. You can imagine how elated the kid is right now.

He got to ride with Hayden early today after Hayden and I left the library. Skylar wasn't satisfied with the short distance they rode, he wanted more but there was no time.

Now he has got his own horse, which is quite gentle. He has spent almost ten minutes saying goodnight to it while Hayden and I wait to take him back to his room to sleep.

"Let's go sleep now." Hayden scoops him into his arms and starts walking back into the house, I follow.

"Do you think he will let me ride him?" He asks.

"Of course he will. But you need to let him rest too." Hayden answers.

We walk back into the palace with Skylar resting on Hayden's chest. The place is a little noisy than usual at this late hour.

The guests that are to travel back to their kingdoms were given rooms to spend the night in.

Some are peacefully resting while others are still in the hall partying.

The day hasn't been as bad as I had imagined it would be. It was my first party, I think I handled all the attention well.

"Where on earth have you been?!" Hayden's young servant exclaims after almost running into us while running full speed.

I am assuming he has been Hayden's servant long enough for them to become friends. He doesn't use titles while addressing Hayden and Hayden treats him like a friend but one that he doesn't like very much.

"And why exactly are you running like a maniac? There is a rat that is chasing you again?" Hayden mocks.

"I wouldn't run this fast if a monster was chasing me. But it's your father that sent me to look for you. I know better than to keep him waiting." The servant answers.

"What does my father want?" Hayden asks.

"Why would he tell me? I am your servant , remember?"

Hayden hands Skylar to me. "I will come see you once I am done with my father." He says.

I give him a peck on the lips before he walks away with his servant.

HAYDEN'S POV

"You acted so amiably today, I feel proud." My Father compliments after inviting me to take the seat across from him.

I hope that's all he wanted to tell me. He did not make another deal with some King or Alpha for me to visit their kingdom because that would be terrible for me.

"I heard Usher found her mate and that they are leaving tomorrow." He says, sounding a little disappointed.

"Yeah. Her mate wants to take her away. I accepted because we will have peace if she leaves." I say.

Father shakes his head. "I thought we agreed that you will act like you would choose her until the day of the marriage?"

"She is leaving with her mate, why would I -"

"They are not leaving. She rejected Angel Grayson and he appears okay with it." Father says.

Please let him be confused. I was already celebrating Usher's departure.

"That is before we spoke and he assured me he will be taking her to his kingdom with him." I say.

"Well, she declined to leave with him. I met him a few minutes ago and he doesn't even think he wants her as his mate. He said she has a heart of a monster."

I was being selfish to hope that he won't notice. No one deserves to be stuck with Usher for life. But she is now back to being my problem again.
