Chapter 31 — No Longer a Secret
Jason POV:
"I'm pregnant, Jason."
The second those words came out of her mouth, I froze.
"Aren't you gonna say anything?" she asks but I still could not bring myself to say anything to her.
"Jason, say something!" she snaps impatiently.
"Are you very sure?" I ask, saying the first thing that popped in my mind.
"I wouldn't be here telling you this if I wasn't one hundred certain about it. I'm pregnant and it's yours," she says, and I let out a sigh knowing very well that my next words were going to upset her, but I couldn't come up with any other choice of words at the moment.
"It's not mine," I tell her calmly and her face falls.
"What did you just say?" she asks in a low voice.
"I said it's not mine Dana. It can't be mine," I repeat, and she scoffs.
"Are you for real Jason? Is that the best you could say? What do you even mean by it's not yours? Why the fuck would I lie about something as serious as this and who else would be the father?" she hisses angrily, and I couldn't help but feel bad for her cause I wasn't planning on changing my statement and she would probably think I'm simply trying to deny my responsibility.
"Someone else has to be the father Dana but I can assure that whoever it is, it's not me. I can't be the father of your child," I tell her as calmly as I could, and she breaks into a short laugh.
"You are unbelievable Jason, you really are. I can't believe I thought you'd be responsible enough to just maybe accept that we made a mistake and now, we just have to find a way to deal with the consequences but instead, you're denying it so shamelessly without even batting an eyelash," she says and by her shaky voice, I could tell she was hurt.
"Okay Dana, let me be clearer. I'm not trying to avert the responsibility of the baby or anything like that, I would never do that to anyone. The truth is, the reason I'm so sure that your baby can't be mine is cause...," I pause for a bit and let out a deep breath.
"Go ahead and tell me Jason, how are you so sure it's not yours? What in the world are you trying to insinuate by saying that?" she fires back, raising her voice slightly.
"I can't have children Dana," I tell her honestly and she frowns.
"What do you mean you can't have children? Why in the world are you trying to make up such a stupid lie?" she yells out furiously and I'm not even surprised that she doesn't believe me.
"I don't have any reason to lie to you, Dana. I really can't have kids and that's why I'm so sure yours isn't mine. If you want proof of it, I will show you the numerous test results I have from various hospitals and they all say I'm sterile, which means I have no chance of ever having kids," I explain to her, and she immediately staggers backwards, almost losing her balance but I'm quick to hold on to her but she shrugs my hand away.
"I don't believe you Jason. You're messing with me right now and I know it! How in the world are you sterile and yet I got pregnant? I haven't exactly been with anyone else and even so, you're the only one I had unprotected sex with! So now tell me Jason, how the fuck is you being impotent and me being pregnant supposed to make any sense?" she snaps.
"I'm sorry to have to ask you this Dana but were you perhaps with anyone else before or after me? That's the only probable option I can give you right now cause I'm certain I'm not your baby's father," I say to her.
"You know what? Whatever! I don't believe you and you can't change my mind on that, but you can forget I told you anything today. I'll just take this as my punishment for letting my hormones get out of control. Have a good evening and forget I told you anything," she says immediately turning to leave and as soon as the door flew open, there stood Blake behind the door and the second our eyes met, my heart sank.

Dana POV:
"B-Blake, how long have you been standing there?" I stutter nervously, wishing so badly that the ground would open up and swallow me whole right this moment.
"Long enough to understand what's going on here," he whispers quietly, and I could literally hear the sadness in his voice.
"I-I'm so sorry, Blake, please forgive me," I beg shamelessly, as tears start to roll down my cheeks.
"Sorry? You're sorry? For what exactly, Dana? What did you do wrong?" he asks, and I'm confused.
"I-I know we shouldn't have done what we did. No excuse in the world can make any sense and I know I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I’m shameless enough to ask you to forgive me, Blake. I'm so sorry for disappointing you and betraying you this way. Please forgive me," I rant whilst crying, hanging my head low shamefully as I could not look him in the eye.
"You're pregnant, Dana, get some rest," was all he said before walking away and heading downstairs. I immediately lose my balance, falling hard on the floor and bursting into tears.
"You're gonna hurt yourself, Dana. Get up," Jason says, trying to help me get up but I push his hands away.
"Don't touch me," I tell him sharply, hoping he takes a hint and stays away from me.
"Don't be stubborn, Dana, you're pregnant. Get up and go to your room to get some rest," he instructs, and I scoff.
"Get some rest? Are you serious right now? How the fuck am I supposed to do that with what just happened Jason? Don't you care about Blake's feelings? Aren't you wondering what could possibly be going on in his mind? Don't you have any sense of guilt at all? Instead of standing here and telling me to get some rest, you should be going after him to at least save your relationship for goodness’s sake!" I yell at him, wondering why he seems so unbothered.
"Let me worry about my relationship with Blake, Dana, and you focus on yourself and your child. I beg you Dana, go to your room and get some rest. Whatever will happen from now, we'll find out tomorrow," he replies before walking away and going in the same direction as Blake.
Tears stream down my face as the hurt look on Blake's face kept playing over and over in my mind, making me feel worse each passing second. I couldn't help but regret the day I let myself go with Jason and now I'm pregnant and will most probably soon be divorced and the only person I can think of to be the father of my child has turned out to be sterile.
If this isn't the worst luck ever.
