Chapter 29 — Baby on the Way
Dana POV:
A Month Later...
"Are you feeling better now?" Samantha asks as soon as I walk out of the doctor's office.
"No, not really babe. I still feel pretty nauseous, and the hospital stench is really not helping," I reply to her, still hating the fact that she made me come all the way to a hospital just because I threw up a few times and told her I was nauseous.
"What did the doctor say?" she asks.
"Nothing really. They just ran a few tests and said they'd get back to me in about thirty minutes although he mentioned something about suspecting I could be pregnant but when I told him that was impossible, he said he'd confirm whatever was wrong with me through a test and let me know," I explain and she gives the same expression I had given the doctor a few minutes ago.
"Pregnant? You? How the fuck will you be pregnant? That's impossible!" she reacts as expected.
"That's what I told him, but he insists that the signs I'm showing are signs of being pregnant. I had to tell him that I'm on birth control and that I don't recall having unprotected sex," I say to her and all of a sudden, she becomes mute.
"Sam? Sam? Sam!" I call out her name a couple of times before she finally snaps out of whatever it is that got over her.
"Oh no Adriana, what have you done?" she says all of a sudden and I frown. Samantha never, like she never calls me by my first name and hearing her call me Adriana felt both weird and scary at the same time.
"What do you mean what have I done Sam? What are you thinking? Don't tell me you're believing that nonsense the doctor said? Come on Samantha!" I hiss at her.
"Nonsense Dana? I don't think so sweetie. Why in the world didn't I realize it? I should have known the moment you started saying you've been feeling pretty nauseous in the last couple of days and that you've thrown up a couple of times," she says, and I was no longer finding any of what she was saying funny at all.
"Stop playing with me Samantha and cut it out! How the fuck can I be pregnant? How in the world is that even gonna happen?" I retort snappily, trying not to cause a scene by yelling.
"Really Dana? Really? Should I be the one reminding you of your sin?" she snaps back and I'm even more confused.
"What exactly are you on about young lady?" I drawl frustratedly, hating the fact that she's not being clear with me.
"Did you use protection with Jason when you fucked him?" she questions, and I deadpan.
Oh, my goodness!
"Holy shit!" I yell out as a terrible realization actually dawns on me and Samantha is quick to shush me up since people were starting to stare at us instead of minding their goddamned business.
"It can't be Sam, it can't be! I can't possibly be pregnant with Jason's baby. It is not possible! And you know what, until the doctor says I am, I am not gonna buy that bullcrap about me being pregnant!" I tell her sharply, hoping with all my heart that whatever is wrong with me just turns out to be a stomachache or anything but pregnancy.
"Mrs. Davies?" a voice calls out my name and when I turn to check who it was, it turned out to be a nurse and I raise my hand slightly to indicate where I sat with Sam.
"Your test results are in madam and the doctor would like to speak with you," she informs.
"I'll be right there," I tell her before talking back to Sam, who looked just as nervous as I was.
"Fingers crossed it's not a baby, sweetie," she mouths with her eyes closed and I quickly say an Amen before getting up and heading to the doctor's office.

"So, is this the part where I say congratulations?" Samantha drawls and I throw her a death glare immediately.
"Don't make me throw you out of the car Samantha," I threaten seriously, and she simply shrugs with an innocent look on her face.
"Be serious Sam, this is not good! What am supposed to tell Blake?" I rhetorically, hitting my head on the steering wheel repeatedly.
"The fucking truth?" Sam suggests and she was really starting to get on my fucking nerves.
"If you're not gonna say anything helpful Sam, please shut up. I really don't need your sarcasm right now," I plead with her, hoping she'd just keep her unhelpful opinions to herself.
"You think I was being sarcastic? No dear, I wasn't. I advise you to tell Blake the truth and let him decide how he's gonna react or don't tell me you're thinking of an abortion?" she asks, and I scowl.
"I'd never do that to a child, and you know it," I retort quickly, slightly offended that she'd even think that.
I've never been against having children and if this baby had happened any other way, I most definitely wouldn't be worried about anything but the fact that the baby's father is my husband's boyfriend makes me feel very irritated and disappointed in myself and that is why I can't bring myself to be happy about it.
"I don't think I have the courage to tell Blake the truth, Sam. He really doesn't deserve that, and I don't wanna ruin his relationship with Jason. They've been together for so long and I'll be a home wrecker if I ruin what they have," I say. She lets out a short, dry laugh.
"Well, you should have thought of that before letting the man fuck you to the point where he burst inside you and impregnated you," she drawls sarcastically. I'm starting to think Samantha is enjoying this a little too much.
"Sam, are you really my best friend? Do you even care about how I'm feeling right now?" I ask.
"Yes, Dana, I do and that's why I'm gonna tell you the bitter truth. You messed up and you messed up big time. I remember warning you not to mess with a taken man no matter what, but instead of listening to me, you went right ahead and banged the guy. You didn't even think to use protection!" she fires at me, raising her voice slightly. I could not exactly say anything to her since she had a point.
"You sound pretty mad, Sam," I mutter, earning a death glare from her.
"Mad? I'm more than mad, you idiot. I'm furious! Do you think being a mother is some sort of joke? It takes a lot from you, Dana, and I can't believe that after living the best years of your life being a mother to your siblings, you're about to spend the few years raising another baby. And this time, it's a newborn. These years were supposed to be for you, for you to catch up and enjoy life. I'm not just mad at you. I'm disappointed, Dana, I really am," she says. I struggle to hold back my tears as her words actually sink in deep.
"Anyways, let's just put all that aside since there's really no point. At least, you're not gonna be a single mom like me cause you're gonna tell baby daddy that you got pregnant, and his cheating ass has to take responsibility for his actions as well. Forget about ruining any relationship. Trust me, if Jason really loved Blake, he would have never cheated on him with you," she says, and I sigh.
"So, first thing I should probably do is tell Jason about it. But what if he doesn't accept it? I don't even think the dude likes kids," I tell her, and she smacks me on my head.
"What the hell, Sam!" I cry out in pain, wondering why she did that.
"You can't possibly be this dumb, Adriana. How the fuck does whether or not he likes kids matter to you? He is responsible for the child, and he has to take fucking responsibility if he doesn't want me to scream to the world that he's a no-good fuck face who denies his own spawn. You better not give him any chance to convince you not to keep the baby," she snaps, and I let out a frustrated sigh before placing my head back on the steering wheel.
"I really should have never lost my self-control with Jason. Now, I'm sitting here, all pregnant, confused, and overwhelmed with guilt. Blake will probably never forgive me," I mutter in a low voice but audible enough for Sam to hear me.
"If you were in his shoes, would you forgive yourself?" Sam asks and I couldn't reply since I knew I probably wouldn't.
"You just need to get some rest first and stop stressing yourself. Remember what the doctor said about avoiding anything that would drain you in anyway, so it doesn't affect the baby. You need to start getting used to the fact that a life is growing inside of you and the last thing that baby needs is an emotionally unstable mother," Samantha advises and I had to agree with her.
I can't let myself be unstable this early on in my pregnancy.
"Can you please drive? I'm not feeling too well," I say to her.
"Sure thing," she replies calmly before getting down to switch sides with me.
