Chapter 166 So amusing

Chapter 166 So amusing
Although it had only been hours, Sapphire had gone through hell. Sapphire was locked in the same cell with the Relling family.
The Relling family, who had believed that success was within their reach, were caught off-guard and filled with indignation by their end.
At first, they thought it was a joke until they saw Sapphire locked up with them. At that moment, they realized that it wasn't a joke, and they were completely ruined.
Sapphire didn't grow up in the Relling family, so they didn't have any affection whatsoever toward Sapphire.
It could be said that within the few hours that Sapphire was with the Relling family, the Relling family tormented her and made her see hell.
Sapphire had always been placed high, and even in the past when the Relling family saw her, they had always fawned on her and treated her more carefully and specially than they treated their family treasure.
Seeing their real actions was a shock to her. How could she not realize that all they had done was to use her?
It wasn't until a guard led the Relling family out of the prison toward a boat—due to the fact that someone the Relling family had trusted had bribed them to lead them out of the country—that she was finally separated from them.
Although the Relling family believed this nonsense, how would Sapphire, who had caught sight of the Vandenberg guard earlier in the day, believe this?
At that moment, she realized that something bad will definitely happen to all of them, so she kept requesting calls with the Austeegard couple.
Surprisingly, the guard obediently gave her the phone. After seeing all these signs, how could several thoughts not begin to infiltrate Sapphire's head? She believed that the Vandenberg family didn't dare to mess with her because it was the Austeegard family's wish.
Also, the Austeegards weren't annoyed with her or hated her. They were just punishing her because her actions were too bad. They wanted her to learn.
Upon thinking like this, Sapphire became more pompous, and all her fear, anxiety, and sorrow disappeared.
Sapphire immediately pouted her lips and blinked her eyes innocently, not caring about how hideous her face looked due to the bruises caused by the beating from the Relling family. Or perhaps she purposely used such an expression to show how pitiful she was.
After seeing Sapphire's pompous face, how could the Austeegard family not understand what was going on?
Suddenly, Sapphire puckered her lips and tried to squeeze tears from her eyes. She cried out pitifully, her body trembling while trying to do everything that could make them forgive her.
“Mom and Dad, I was wrong. I was stupid. I thought the Relling family cared about me sincerely. You have always told me to give a chance to people and treat everyone with love. This is why…”
In the next moment, she shook her head frantically and waved her hands,
“I have learned my lesson, Mom. I'll be obedient from now on.”
“It is indeed our fault. Our family's daughter should be pretty and filial. How can our family give birth to someone with such unsightly looks, no talent, and greedy? Hubby, I think it's indeed our fault,” Hazel suddenly spoke and interjected, her words shocking Quist and Sapphire.
Quist knew how much Hazel had always pampered Sapphire, and at first, it made him worry that she might break down after seeing Sapphire, but he realized that he was just thinking too much.
Hazel's eyes flashed with disgust. Sapphire dared to collide with outsiders and even tried to kill their Austeegard family daughter in their mansion. As if that wasn't enough, she dared to blame them for raising her with love.
They had raised her with love only for her to turn the knife to stab them. And she claimed that it was their fault? They had never seen someone as shameless as this. Even daring to scheme with them.
In the past, Hazel had always let Sapphire do what she wanted and stayed patient with her because she was their daughter. But after realizing the truth and seeing how considerate their daughter was, how would she continue to deal with such a fake thing anymore?
The smile on Sapphire's face froze, and her expression turned unsightly, not expecting the words that would spill from Hazel's mouth. However, for someone like Sapphire, shame is the least thing that they have.
She purposely let tears fall from her eyes, and she cried out,
“Mom, I know you are annoyed at me. I don't mind if you let out words on me, I'll take it in until—”
“You think you are worthy?” Hazel sneered and coldly rebutted harshly, unable to watch Sapphire continue her ridiculous scheming.
Originally, Sapphire wasn't beautiful in the first place. Coupled with her hideous, bruised face, it made Hazel disgusted.
“Karma has finally caught up with your Relling family. You got what you deserve.”
Upon hearing this, Sapphire froze. Even if she wanted to keep lying to herself, she now knows that the Austeegard family are tired of her and had no use for her.
Seeing Quist kiss Hazel and stare at her admiringly, she knew that Quist accepted all Hazel was saying.
Sapphire's face flushed red, and she banged the table hard. She scowled,
“Isn’t it just one mistake? I have been good all these days, but none of it was worth mentioning after you discovered the presence of your daughter. You are just like everyone else—pretentious and selfish. I should have just destroyed you all from the very beginning. I know you all looked down on me because of my hideous face compared to your beautiful face.
The Relling family made me feel at home. And they accepted my flaws. You only treated me right in front of me, and you looked down on me behind my back…”
“I wish you a good home with your Relling family,” Hazel breathed out, and as soon as she completed her words, she cut off the call.
They had treated Sapphire right only to receive this kind of words. When had they talked behind her back? When had they thought she was flawed?
“Don't think about her anymore. She's just like the Relling family; ungrateful.” Quist placed a kiss on her forehead and coaxed.
Hazel shook her head and smiled gently. She exhaled and whispered, “I felt lighter like this,” she uttered. “Let's live in peace from now on.”
Quist only responded by kissing her forehead and hugging her close.

“Maverick.” As soon as Valencia stood up from the dining table, her eyes lit up upon seeing Maverick roll his wheelchair toward her.
The several thoughts of chiding a certain Mr. Maverick once he was back immediately flew from Valencia’s mind.
She immediately rushed toward him and tilted her head in curiosity, “Where have you been all day?” she questioned.
Maverick immediately extended his hand and patted his legs for Valencia to sit. Without hesitation, Valencia sat on his lap.
Immediately, Maverick captured the woman's lips in a deep kiss. It wasn't until Valencia was almost short of breath that he let her go. At that time, Valencia had completely forgotten the question she asked Maverick.
“Let's go,” Maverick uttered and began to lead the wheelchair out of the mansion.
Valencia blinked her eyes in curiosity and fixated her glance on Maverick. “Let's go? Where are we going?”
“It's a surprise,” Maverick calmly responded. His eyes landed on her face, and he complimented, “You are so beautiful, Valencia.”
Upon hearing this, Valencia's lips raised into a wide smile, and she burrowed into Maverick's embrace. Maverick is the most handsome in Valencia’s eyes.
Soon, Maverick led them to the car, and Valencia helped him into the car. A driver was already waiting for the both of them, and as soon as they got in, the driver turned on the ignition and started driving the car.
The car continued to drive down the road, and it wasn't until it arrived at one of the country's famous universities that it came to a pause.
Valencia's brows furrowed in confusion. Seeing them come to the university made her very confused.
If they had gone to an office or restaurant, Valencia would have partially understood what they were there for. But coming to a university, Valencia didn't understand at all.
The heads of the school were already present at the parking lot. As soon as they saw Maverick and Valencia, they stepped forward and bowed to them respectfully.
“Welcome, Mr. Maverick, Mrs. Valencia. We have prepared everything. The students are waiting.”
Valencia's brows arched, but she kept quiet, knowing that regardless of how she asked, Maverick wouldn't tell her. She immediately attempted to walk behind the wheelchair.
However, Maverick directly tugged her hand, and she crashed into his embrace, carrying her on his lap. He raised his chin calmly and expressed, “Lead the way.”
A tinge of red crept onto Valencia's face, but more so was the excitement. Seeing Maverick act so manly and domineeringly made her heart want to melt. Still, she maintained her composure in front of people. However, at a spot only Maverick could see, Valencia raised her thumbs toward him.
Maverick's lips curved up in amusement, and he poked her waist gently. So amusing.
