Chapter 164 I never plan to

Chapter 164 I never plan to
Hazel smiled, held Valencia's hand, and stroked it—an amused smile on her face. “What do you mean? I'm a woman and a mother, of course. How can I not be aware that you are pregnant?”
Valencia's face formed into a smile, and her mind turned warm. So this is what it feels like to have a mother. So sweet.
Hazel held Valencia's hand and stared at her seriously. “Valencia, I wasn't present in the past to fulfill motherly concerns, but from now on, I'll make sure that I don't leave any stone unturned.”
Valencia nodded and smiled sweetly. Suddenly, she recalled something important and whispered into Hazel’s ear. Maverick didn't know that Valencia was pregnant yet. “Can this be a sec—”
Before Valencia could complete her words, Hazel grinned and nodded in agreement. It was clear that she understood what Valencia was talking about.
By the time the two women came out of the kitchen, their closeness was vivid, and there was a big smile on their faces.
Upon seeing this, a big smile appeared on Quist’s face, and his worries dispersed. Valencia was right. She handled it better than he thought she would.
The meal began immediately, a sweet ambiance filling the dining room.
Suddenly, Valencia's phone rang. Upon taking a look, Valencia discovered that it was the quadruplets calling.
Due to the late hour that they arrived in the country the day before, Valencia and Maverick were not able to speak with the quadruplets—not to mention that it was early morning when the group left the hotel for the Austeegard family mansion.
The group had yet to speak or share the details of their journey with the people back at home, so there was no way they wouldn't be worried.
A sweet smile subconsciously formed on Valencia's face, and she picked up the video call.
Upon seeing Valencia, a sweet smile formed on the quadruplets' faces. Behind the quadruplets were Aviva and Aneira.
“Valencia. Mom.” The group called immediately, their relief evident in their voices.
“Valencia, how have you been? How was the journey? Have you found your parents? Were they good to you?” Aneira and Aviva immediately fired Valencia these questions.
A sweet smile appeared on Valencia’s face, and she nodded in acquiescence.
Aneira and Aviva’s lips parted, and they gasped in shock. Instantly, they hugged each other and smiled.
Judging by Valencia's expression, it was clear that everything went well and smoothly. Suddenly, they noticed something important, making them gasp.
Judging by Valencia's background, it was clear that Valencia wasn't in a hotel. Could it be? So fast.
Seeing that the two were still subdued by shock, Valencia turned to the quadruplets and smiled sweetly. “Babies, how have you been? Were you good?”
The quadruplets nodded in acquiescence and puckered their lips in grievance. “Yes, Mom. We missed Mom and Dad a lot.”
Valencia's face formed into a smile, and she stared at them with motherly warmth and ache in her eyes. Since when had she left the quadruplets' side?
If Valencia knew that things would be this easy, she would have brought her quadruplets along. “Mom missed quadruplets a lot too.”
Iris blinked her eyes and asked in her sweet voice, “Mom, when will you be back?”
Valencia's brows furrowed slightly, and she tilted her head. In fact, she didn't know yet, and judging by how things are, she can't leave so easily. There are still things to do. “Baby, Mom will try to be there soon.”
“Dad?” the quadruplets immediately nodded and asked in concern.
Valencia immediately handed the phone over to Maverick, and they began to converse, with laughter drifting out of the speaker occasionally. In just a few days, the quadruplets’ bond with Maverick had grown inexplicably.
Soon the phone was handed over to Corbyn Cirillo so he could speak with the quadruplets.
After a few minutes of chatting, the phone was returned to Valencia.
Upon seeing the longing look on Hazel and Quist’s faces, Valencia's heart softened, and she stretched her phone toward them. She softly spoke, “Would you like to speak with your grandchildren?”
“Of course, yes.” Without hesitation, the two excitedly nodded in agreement and moved closer to Valencia.
A sweet smile appeared on Valencia's face, and she began to introduce Hazel and Quist to the quadruplets. “Babies, these are Grandmom and Granddad. Mom, Dad, these are Orson, Hudson, Iris, and Iverson.” She patiently introduced while pointing at the quadruplets one after the other.
Valencia's eyes fell on Aviva and Aneira, and she finalized, “These are my sisters, Aneira and Aviva.”
Upon hearing this, Aviva and Aneira’s hearts turned warm, and they couldn't help but smile at Valencia's words.
The two bowed to Quist and Hazel and said, “Valencia’s parents are also our parents. Nice to meet you, Mom and Dad.”
Hazel stared into Quist’s eyes, and her lips formed into a smile.
From raising someone’s daughters to now having three daughters and a beautiful quadruplet and an incoming baby—life is so beautiful. What more does she need?
“Nice to meet you, Aneira and Aviva. Thank you for taking care of Valencia.”
Immediately, their eyes landed on the quadruplets, and their hearts instantly melted. “They are so cute.”
The quadruplets are so cute. Even though the couple weren't able to spend Valencia's childhood with her due to all that happened.
Seeing the quadruplets—who were like miniature versions of Valencia and Maverick—they already had an idea…
“Grandma. Granddad.” the quadruplets obediently called while staring at Hazel and Quist with curiosity.
At first, the couple were worried that the quadruplets might ignore them. However, hearing the quadruplets call for them made their hearts melt and made all their sorrow drift into the wind.
They instantly fell in love with their grandchildren. Valencia had done a great job raising her children.
Hazel smiled sweetly, and Quist’s eyes brightened. They might have lost a lot, but heaven had rewarded them in so many ways.
“My sweet little darlings, how have you been? Grandma and Granddad can’t wait to meet you,” the two excitedly said.
They turned to Valencia and stared at her proudly. “Valencia, you did a great job raising the kids. They are so beautiful… just like you and Maverick.”
Maverick’s lips curved up as he watched the woman energetically attend to him. Although she hadn't said a word, her facial expression was clear; she was happy. She was so happy that a smile was plastered on her face even when they cuddled. Maverick’s hand entangled in Valencia’s hair, and he gently brushed it. He placed a sweet kiss on her cheek and stared into her eyes.
“Are you happy?”
As soon as Maverick spoke, he remembered the first night they had shared together—she had asked him if he was happy.
Back then, Maverick didn't even know his own feelings. But now, if asked if he was happy, Maverick would only say one thing: seeing his happy woman gave him an unprecedented level of joy.
Valencia’s emotions would always get to him. Maverick never wanted to see her sad. Just seeing her whistle and act like a happy-go-lucky child was more than enough to satisfy him.
Maverick wanted to pamper this woman for the rest of her life and never give her a reason to cry.
Valencia propped her head up, her eyes filled with light, squinting, and she nodded. “Very. So happy.”
The Austeegard family had complained about how late it was and insisted they stay in the Austeegard mansion, providing them with everything they needed.
Sleeping in her parents' house gave Valencia a sense of joy, comfort, peace, and security.
This was home. Being surrounded by warmth, having people care for you and worry on your behalf.
Maverick lowered his head and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Although he didn't say a word, the meaning behind his action was, “I'll protect your happiness forever. And from now on, I'll only make you happier.”
Perhaps it was due to joy, or perhaps it was due to weariness from the journey, but Valencia fell fast asleep in Maverick’s arms.
Maverick carefully got down from the bed and, with an unbalanced gait, made his way out of the room.
Immediately, a guard bowed to Maverick and followed him, leading him to the verandah.
Mr. Austeegard was currently on the verandah, his gaze peering at the beautiful surroundings, a cigarette in his hand.
Even though he sensed Maverick’s arrival, he didn't move or bat an eye; it was as if he hadn't noticed Maverick’s presence.
After one or two minutes, Quist suddenly broke the silence.
“Hazel doesn't like to see me smoke. She's going to chide me for days and kick me out of the room if she knows.”
Even though he said this, his happiness and love were evident.
As soon as he spoke these words, Quist pinched the cigarette and lightly stubbed it out before handing it over to a guard, who would complete the job of throwing it away without rousing Hazel’s suspicion.
It was at this moment that Quist finally turned to Maverick. His hawk eyes landed on Maverick’s face and body, clearly evaluating him.
Quist’s eyes didn't flicker when he saw Maverick, who was in a wheelchair all day, now standing straight in front of him. It was as if Quist already expected him to be in such a state.
A faint sense of approval flickered across Quist’s face. He had only wanted to see how capable Maverick was.
Quist hadn't expected Maverick to know that he would position a guard to bring Maverick out for a talk when the time was right.
Not to mention that Maverick would ditch the wheelchair and come straight to the verandah, regardless of how far it was, just to get approval from Valencia’s father.
This bearing. This intelligence. There was no wonder he was a self-made billionaire.
“I made an investigation of your relationship.” Quist paused and stared at Maverick seriously.
Regardless of how painful reading and seeing the evidence of how much his daughter had suffered, he had gone through it all.
“I hurt her. I was foolish…” Maverick declared, the light from a bulb outlining his ethereal image and personality. Coupled with his peerlessly handsome face, it made all color pale in sight.
“I can't rewrite the past, but I'll never hurt Valencia again,” Maverick declared bravely and heroically.
The guarded expression in Quist’s eyes disappeared, and he nodded. He had been initially worried that Maverick might just be with Valencia casually and wasn't serious with her. However, after seeing the fondness and love revealed in Maverick’s eyes, how could he not know how much feeling Maverick had toward her?
Well, who was he to come between them?
If it turned out that Maverick was only there to hurt his daughter, then even if it meant destroying the world to make Maverick pay, he would definitely hold Maverick accountable.
Quist had more than enough money. Taking his own daughter and his grandchildren and raising her back in the home she was supposed to grow up in, he could definitely do that.
Upon thinking like this, he calmed down.
Quist raised his hand and patted Maverick’s shoulder. “Don't hurt her.”
Although this was all Quist said, the killing and intense emotion laced in his words was more than enough for Maverick to know that if he dared to hurt even an inch of Valencia's hair, then Quist would never let him go.
Immediately, Quist turned and left, his ears picking up Maverick’s response, “I never planned to.”
