Chapter 162 Prison
Chapter 162 Prison
“Please, come in,” Hazel and Quist Austeegard gently spoke, with Hazel’s hand holding Valencia tightly and her eyes focused on Valencia, as if she was afraid that if she blinked, Valencia would disappear from her sight.
Seeing the motherly love she had missed all her life, Valencia’s heart melted, and she felt as if she had been submerged in sweetness, making her feel warm.
It turns out that she had a good family, and the heavens never created her to be stuck with a family that schemed against her and didn’t love her.
The minute Valencia stepped into the beautiful mansion, she instantly felt a feeling she hadn’t experienced in her life: the feeling of belonging. The feeling of home.
And it made tears well up in Valencia’s reddened and swollen eyes.
Upon seeing Valencia on the verge of crying, tears slipped past Hazel’s eyes, and she wrapped her hands around Valencia with remorse and self-regret gnawing deep in her heart. “I’m so sorry, Valencia. I’m so sorry. It was all my fault,” she cried out.
Before Hazel could continue to blame herself, Valencia wiped the tears from her eyes and shook her head fiercely. She tried to plaster a smile on her face. She explained, “No, Mom. I’m just too happy. I finally have a home! I finally have a mom and dad like everyone else. I’m so happy,” she whispered in a shaky voice.
Although Valencia had always acted as if she was calm and didn’t care—in fact, how could she not care that she didn’t have anyone to call family? Now that Valencia finally had a mom and dad who cared about her, how could she not be happy?
Quist extended his hand, held Valencia’s hand, and stared into her eyes. “Daughter, it’s all my fault. If I had paid more attention when you were born, none of this would have happened. Your mother and I didn’t spend the first quarter of years with you, but for the rest of your life, we promise to make it up to you,” Quist pronounced in a sincere voice, making Valencia’s heart melt.
Hazel stared at Valencia and nodded her head in acquiescence.
Valencia didn’t need anyone to tell her how much the couple must have blamed themselves for everything that happened. However, that was all in the past—what they needed was to make the best of today and the future.
Valencia shook her head and wrapped her hands around them both. She began to say, “Mom, Dad. What happened to our family is a big regret, but still, that has been the reason I’ve grown to become the woman I am. And also, have the people around me—including my man and my quadruplets. So we don’t have to blame ourselves…”
“Quadruplets?” the Austeegard couple retorted and exclaimed, filled with shock. It turned out that not only were they reunited with their daughter—they also had grandchildren. And the most important thing was that they had quadruplets as grandchildren!
Hazel’s eyes welled with more tears, and she smiled beautifully while grabbing Quist’s hand, her voice trembling from excitement. Quist wrapped his hands around her and hugged his wife while gently listening to her joy. Despite the years they had spent as a couple, their love was still as strong—it had never weakened. Rather, it seemed to grow stronger with each second that ticked by.
“We are grandparents, husband! We are now grandparents!” They hadn’t expected to become grandparents so soon. It was truly a blessing in disguise.
Suddenly, she snapped out of it and smacked her forehead as if she had just recalled something important. “Look at my manners. I still haven’t let you settle down yet.” Immediately, she led them in and motioned for them to sit.
Once everyone was settled, the group was finally able to talk and ask what had been on their minds—which was how the Austeegard couple had come to know about the Relling family’s plan and beat them to it.
Quist took a glance at all of them. “In fact, we were also clueless in the beginning. However, Mr. Carter and his wife came to find me.”
Although it had taken them a week of persistent chasing to get Quist’s attention and convince him to agree to a meeting, they had persisted.
Even when Quist didn’t believe them at first, Mr. Carter had done everything to find and present evidence to convince him.
When they realized Mr. Carter was telling the truth, Hazel and Quist had immediately flown out of the country to get diagnosed—and that was when they discovered the slow-acting poison being fed to them.
The doctor had told them how fortunate they were because just a little longer and an unfortunate condition would have befallen them both.
After nursing their health back to full, the couple decided to lay low and pay attention to everything happening—and that was when they realized how cruelly deep the Relling family’s influence ran.
Quietly, Quist began to uproot the Relling family’s control while taking back power.
Suddenly, Quist turned toward Roman and stared at him calmly. “You don’t have to worry. Your parents are with my guard. Once I call them, they’ll bring them over,” Quist informed.
“One minute.” As soon as Quist said this, he picked up his phone and began to type a message.
It wasn’t even a minute later that Roman’s phone suddenly vibrated.
Immediately, Roman picked up his phone and saw he had been receiving multiple notifications from social media.
Upon checking, Roman discovered that the Relling family’s dirty secrets had been published online—and they had been arrested.
The group’s expressions changed immediately. Too easy. They hadn’t expected that their mission would be so successful that they wouldn’t even need to lift a finger or go through with their original plan.
Upon hearing this, it was as if a huge burden had been lifted off Roman’s shoulders. He hurriedly stood up, clasped his hands together, and bowed to them immediately. “I—”
Before Roman could continue, Hazel shook her head and stopped him. “We’re the ones who should thank you for being an honest person.”
If it had been someone else, they would have done whatever the Relling family wished! A perfect example was Sapphire.
Sapphire had grown up in the Austeegard family without any hardship. They had raised her with love.
Yet the minute Sapphire knew the truth about her birth, she immediately backstabbed the Austeegard family and followed the Relling family’s wishes.
Even though there was the situation with Roman’s parents, Roman went against the Relling family and tried to help them.
No matter how much they tried to appreciate him, it would never be enough.
A maid immediately stepped forward while holding an old painting that dated back and was worth tens of millions. One of Roman’s hobbies was collecting and appreciating paintings—and the most important thing was that Roman had been searching for this painting for a long time.
A surge of happiness immediately surged through Roman’s eyes, but in the next second, he snapped out of it and shook his head, clearly trying to reject the gift. He had been the one to gain the most—because he was able to get his parents safely. “This…”
The Austeegard family had gotten it as a gift for Roman. If Roman said he didn’t want it, they would only find a way to destroy it. Although he knew they wouldn’t do so, Roman had reluctantly agreed due to their “threat.”
After profusely thanking them, Roman immediately informed them of his departure. Although the Austeegard family had assured him of his parents' safety, if he didn’t see them with his own eyes, he wouldn’t be at peace.
As soon as Roman left, the Austeegard couple stood up and began to lead Valencia, Maverick, and Corbyn toward the dining room.
“What will happen to her?” Although Maverick hadn’t mentioned her name, they all knew he was talking about Sapphire. It didn’t matter if the Austeegard family had raised Sapphire or if they had a soft spot for her. All Maverick knew was that he would never let her go scot-free—and he’d make her pay for what she had tried to do to his woman.
“Send her to prison,” Quist responded indifferently, and he immediately arched his brows, as if to tell them he could declare her fate more severely if he wasn’t satisfied with such an ending.
Prison? That was already too good for her!
He had to make sure that Sapphire would never set eyes on—or even hear news about—his woman again.
And the Relling family? He had to make them pay for the sins they had committed.
Sending them to prison was a blessing. They aren't worthy.
Maverick immediately picked up his phone and sent a message.
The Relling family had been completely destroyed from that moment on.
