Chapter 160 Sapphire

Chapter 160 Sapphire
Valencia’s brows furrowed, and she stepped out of the presidential suite. She hadn't seen Maverick ever since she woke up. And even when she had bathed and put on her dress, she still didn't catch a glimpse of him.
How can it be? Where can he run off to so early in the morning while he's in that state? Sigh.
Valencia twisted the doorknob and pushed open the door.
Valencia's expression suddenly softened, and her lips curved up. Such a devilish Maverick. He so loved teasing her a lot. Huff.
Despite Valencia's thoughts, her walking pace was fast and steady; Valencia soon arrived at Corbyn's presidential suite, and she was immediately granted entry.
And just like Valencia thought, Maverick was with Corbyn.
While the two were always acting like mutual enemies, whenever something went wrong, they'd push aside their indifference and work on finding an answer. Their relationship is very interesting.
However, it's just that it had been morning since Maverick left the room, which was very unusual.
"Did something happen?" Valencia made her way toward Maverick and placed a kiss on his cheek.
Valencia nodded to Corbyn politely and greeted, "Good morning, big brother."
Maverick was supposed to be in the room if nothing had happened. Could it be that they had alerted the Relling family by their entrance into the country...
No, their entry into the country must have certainly alerted the Relling family, who would have already had their eyes on Valencia and Roman—the two greatest pawns.
Could it be that the Relling family are planning something that involves the Austeegard family's safety?
"Taking precaution," Maverick calmly interjected before the woman's mind could start to wander.
The two didn't tell Valencia about last night's attack yet because that would only make her worry more. That, Valencia can’t allow.
Upon hearing this, Valencia sighed in relief, and she became calm. She parted her lips as if to say a word—
"Eaten yet?" Maverick arched his brows and calmly spoke, interrupting Valencia’s words.
Upon hearing this, Valencia's calm expression broke, and she blinked.
When Valencia hadn't seen Maverick in the suite when she woke up, it made her unable to pay attention to other things. Valencia's sole aim at that time was to find Maverick and make sure that he was fine.
For that reason, Valencia wasn't even able to concentrate in the room, not to mention notice that a meal had been prepared for her.
Valencia tapped her nose awkwardly and took a step back. She pressed her lips together and blinked her eyes before responding, "I'll go in and have my meal."
Maverick didn't even bat his eyelids a bit. It was as if he had already expected the woman to act like that.
Maverick leaned back authoritatively and stared at her calmly.
Even though Maverick didn't speak, it wasn’t hard to understand what he meant. Once Valencia was done with her meal, they could leave for the Austeegard mansion.
Upon hearing this, Valencia, who had just taken a step, quickly retracted her legs and eagerly stared at Maverick.
Waiting until she had her meal? After hearing that, how would Valencia be able to eat any more?
Anyway, it’s not as if Valencia was the type who eats in the morning.
Hell, Valencia could even go a whole day without eating—so what was missing breakfast?
Valencia immediately batted her eyelashes cutely and parted her lips. She drawled softly, "Rick..." as if the two were the only ones present in the room.
Maverick's eyes instantly darkened, but upon realizing what the woman was trying to do, he was able to regain control over himself.
Maverick arched his brows, stared at the woman firmly, and calmly retorted, "Don't think about it."
The woman shouldn't even try to compromise her health—he won’t allow it!
Upon hearing this, Valencia puckered her lips and harrumphed. Such an overbearing Maverick.
Upon recalling that she had to eat for her baby's sake, Valencia made a face at Maverick and haughtily left the room.
Maverick’s lips curved up, and he chuckled in amusement. The woman is really too adorable—how can he not like her?
Corbyn slammed Maverick with dirty eyes and leisurely strode out of the room, the hotel as a whole, and made his way to the car.
Minutes later, the group was finally done with their preparations and got into their car.
Immediately, they drove straight for the Austeegard family mansion in the country.
It took them an hour's drive before the car finally arrived at the Austeegard mansion.
Upon seeing the majestic gate a few meters away, Valencia's confident look immediately broke, and her fist subconsciously formed into a ball, her body turning tense due to nervousness. She couldn't help gripping her dress.
As if understanding what the woman was thinking, Maverick immediately interlocked his hand with hers and used his finger to stroke the back of her hand, clearly to comfort her. "It'll be fine," he susurrated next to her ear.
Even though Maverick didn't say more than that, his words meant that he’d go all the way for Valencia, and he’d do his utmost best to see that the day ended on a positive note.
Upon hearing Maverick's words, Valencia felt as if all the burdens on her shoulders had been taken off, making her mood improve.
At that moment, it was as if the worry had diffused into thin air, making her feel inexplicably relieved.
Valencia took a deep breath and nodded at Maverick. "Okay."
However, still, Valencia’s mind couldn't help but wander.
Of course, the situation with the Austeegard family is such an unexpected one that appeared out of thin air.
The Austeegard family had always believed it was just them and their daughter—will they believe the word of a stranger that appeared out of nowhere?
At the stranger's word, Valencia felt as if she had been stabbed deeply.
A stranger in her own family. She doesn't like that feeling at all. She only hoped that the Austeegard family would be—
"Hello there. The Austeegard family has personal issues to focus on, and for that reason, they won't be receiving visitors for now. Please, turn back and leave."
The sudden cold voice of the guards positioned at the gate snapped Valencia out of her thoughts.
Immediately, Valencia raised her head to gauge the situation.
It turned out that when Valencia was deep in thought, the car had approached and stopped at the Austeegard family gate already.
Valencia’s brows furrowed, and her eyes dilated. What was happening?
Valencia immediately took a glance at the guard and tried to evaluate his expression.
Judging by the guard's cold and hostile stance, it wasn't hard to see that the guards were already expecting their arrival.
Valencia felt her stomach drop. Is this the Austeegard family's handiwork or...
"It seems the Relling family's influence in the Austeegard mansion is deeply entrenched, farther than we thought," Maverick's cold voice drifted into Valencia’s ear.
The Relling family already knew about their arrival, so they would do anything to stop them from meeting the Austeegard family.
And so they decided to use it for their own good by using the excuse of the situation that the Austeegard family is currently battling with to shut the family off from the outside world and also prevent Valencia from meeting them. Such a perfect excuse.
Unfortunately, the Vandenberg and Cirillo families didn’t earn their reputation for nothing.
Maverick and Corbyn’s lips curved up. As if it was planned, their eyes immediately met.
Even without saying it, Valencia somehow understood what the duo planned—crashing the gate and taking them down.
Immediately, the bodyguards of the Cirillo and the Vandenberg families appeared.
"Boss, please." A few minutes later, one of the guards opened the Austeegard family gate and bowed to them so they could enter.
Soon, the car drove straight into the mansion. The ride took them fifteen or more minutes before they finally arrived at the Austeegard main mansion.
As soon as their car came to a pause, the Austeegard family guards immediately surrounded it and pointed their guns at it. A girl in her twenties stood elegantly behind the guards. It was very easy to see that she was the fake daughter of the Austeegard family.
Calmly, Corbyn opened the car door and alighted from the car. Immediately, Maverick, Robin, and Valencia followed.
Upon seeing Corbyn, the girl's eyes lit up, and a small, coquettish smile appeared on her lips. However, the minute her eyes landed on Valencia, her eyes turned cold, and a hostile glint immediately dawned over her eyes. It was as if she had just come across her hated enemy.
Sapphire straightened her back, with coldness laced in her eyes. Nevertheless, she managed to place an elegant smile on her face. Her voice was calm, her whole person poised.
"And may I know who this group of people who dared to take down our guards and forcefully crash the gate are?" Sapphire's eyes immediately turned sharp and calculating.
"Being so blatantly disrespectful to my family in our abode—if such news gets out, it will surely affect my family’s reputation. Just because my father is sick doesn't mean my Austeegard family is a pushover.
However, I can shut one eye and pretend that none of this happened if one of you breaks her hands and legs." She calmly spoke, and her cold eyes immediately fell on Valencia.
Even though Sapphire was speaking about breaking a woman's legs and hands, her voice was soft and harmless if she was speaking about simple things which were totally unrelated to a gruesome thing like this.
An uncontrollable urge to laugh immediately overwhelmed Valencia. Sapphire clearly knew them but still dared to act as if she was clueless. Shameless. Truly shameless.
Although Valencia tried to restrain herself, seeing the cocky and shameless Sapphire made her unable to help herself. She commented in a sarcastic tone, "A chicken acting like a phoenix. Truly interesting."
Although it might seem as if Valencia casually spoke a word, in fact, the meaning behind Valencia’s words is that Sapphire, a fake daughter, dares to act cocky to Valencia in the Austeegard mansion—Valencia's rightful home.
Sapphire's eyes immediately turned cold.
