Chapter 78

Chapter 78

"Mr. Clair, Miss Charlotte insists on seeing you. She's making a huge scene at the villa entrance," the butler said helplessly.

Hearing this, Clair said coldly, "Have the bodyguards send her back."

The butler immediately understood that, whether Charlotte was willing or not, she had to leave.

I sat beside Clair, looking away, but I could still vaguely hear something.

It seemed some young lady had tracked down Clair at the villa and refused to leave without seeing him.

After Clair hung up the phone, I teased him with a smile, "You're quite the charmer. Which young lady came looking for you?"

"No matter how charming I am, I'm not as charming as you," Clair said with a smile. "Let's go home. I'll give you another billion or so tonight."

I blushed and pushed Clair.

Last night was really too crazy.

But as soon as we got home, Clair pressed me against the door and kissed me passionately, our clothes falling to the floor...

Tonight was destined to be another sleepless night.

By the time we finished, it was almost midnight. I was exhausted, lying in Clair's arms as he whispered in my ear, "This is my second gift to you. Happy birthday."

Thinking Clair was making another dirty joke, I rolled my eyes and closed them.

But then, like magic, Clair produced a paper rose from behind my ear.

I was pleasantly surprised and asked, "Where did this flower come from?"

"I made it myself." Clair's eyes sparkled as he looked at me.

I praised him sincerely, "It's a beautiful and delicate handmade paper rose. That's so like you—you're amazing at everything!"

"Was I also amazing just now?"

His lips brushed suggestively against my earlobe.

When I shyly nodded, he kissed me again.

In that moment, I finally understood what Clair had once said—he was just an ordinary man with basic desires too.

He wanted to hold me tight and possess me.

From the first time to countless times after.

In the heat of our romance, we wanted to be together every day.

Clair carried my drowsy body to the bathroom to clean me up.

He always took such thoughtful care of me.

We held each other and fell asleep together.

Meanwhile, Charlotte, having lost all hope and been betrayed by her two best friends, was devastated. She smashed everything breakable in her room.

Sandy came home and, hearing about Charlotte from the servants, rushed upstairs.

She looked at the mess everywhere, panicked. "Charlotte, did someone hurt you? Tell me quickly."

Charlotte suddenly looked up, tear stains still on her face, but determination in her eyes. "Mom, starting tomorrow, I want to work at your company."

Sandy asked in surprise, "Charlotte, what happened?"

Before, Charlotte had always made excuses to refuse her, which had been quite frustrating, with no solution.

"I just think it's time I grew up," Charlotte said, unwilling to reveal the real reason. She clenched her fists tightly. Once she got into Blue Sky Corporation, she would definitely make those who looked down on her regret it.

Especially Clair!

Her mom was so capable, so as her daughter, she couldn't be any worse!

"I want to be like you, a powerful businesswoman. So you need to teach me about business."

Though Sandy didn't know what had caused such a change in Charlotte, as long as Charlotte was willing to join the company and become her heir, that was good news.

She nodded repeatedly, her eyes full of relief. "Okay, as long as you're willing, I'll definitely teach you."

The next day, Sandy got up especially early, planning how to persuade Charlotte to go to the company.

To her surprise, Charlotte also got up early.

Sandy's eyes lit up. "Come have breakfast. We'll go to the company after we eat."

Charlotte was stunned.

Actually, she had stayed up all night and hadn't slept at all.

Remembering her bold words from last night, she could only grit her teeth and agree.

In the car on the way to the company, Sandy held Charlotte's hand. "You'll start learning in the planning department."

Since Charlotte was just joining the company, it wouldn't be appropriate to give her too high a position, so she'd start as a manager in the planning department.

Charlotte said, "Don't worry, Mom. I can handle it."

Sandy nodded with a smile. "I have an early meeting later. If you need anything, wait until after my meeting, okay?"

Charlotte nodded impatiently.

When they arrived at the company, Charlotte went straight to the planning department.

I happened to be in the planning department, too. Today, Clair had dropped me off near Blue Sky Corporation before heading back to Rand Group.

While working, I occasionally touched the rose pendant I was wearing, feeling like even the toughest problems could be solved quickly. I was full of energy.

"Susan, Miss Charlotte is here," a colleague suddenly whispered a warning.

I looked up and saw that everyone in the planning department except me had perked up with welcoming smiles, so I had no choice but to join them in greeting her.

Everyone lined up in two rows.

I arrived last, so I stood at the back.

The sound of high heels clicked closer. Charlotte wore a luxurious suit, carrying a classic orange Hermès bag, her long hair dyed deep red and flowing, with oversized sunglasses on her face.

She had two assistants following her.

When Charlotte stopped, everyone present said in unison, "Good morning, Miss Charlotte."

Charlotte slowly removed her sunglasses and tossed them to an assistant beside her. She put on a superior attitude, looking around with an impatient expression.

Those who knew she was here to work might think she was here to show off.

Charlotte flipped her hair and asked her assistant arrogantly, "Where's my office? Can you take responsibility for wasting my time?"

The assistant quickly gestured. "Miss Charlotte, this way please."

As Charlotte walked toward me, I lowered my eyes, not wanting to be noticed by her.

But unexpectedly, Charlotte still stopped in front of me.

She stared at me intently, her expression changing.

My breath caught. Was there no escaping this time?

Given Charlotte's personality, I might be fired on the spot.

"Where did you get that necklace?" Charlotte's face darkened as she stared at the necklace around my neck.
